«Jill» is a most attentive server! Everything she suggested was superb: French Onion Soup with a perfectly melted and broiled top, tender and flavorful New York Strip, expertly preparedColorado Rack of Lamb, and a delectable local Whitefish prepared with garlic, parsley and lemon. The chocolate soufflé with a Crème Anglais was pretty much scraped clean and the cheesecake was creamy and dense with raspberry and chocolate!

Most of these reviews are positive for a reason… this place rocks. From the cozy setting to the kindly wait staff to that ravioli appetizer, we were so impressed! No trouble getting a table on Saturday @7:30pm but this is march in northern Michigan. Even locals vacate if they can. The salad was ridiculously fresh for March, the bread warm and soft. The fish was perfectly cooked and the soufflé was heavenly. I will say that as a usual vegetarian, I saw no obvious choices for a non meat entrée. The waitstaff, I’m positive, would have helped produce something suitable but nothing was listed. But I was happy with my choice and thrilled to have this gem right here. Keep it up!

Absolutely amazing! The food was to die for, and the staff was great. We visited the town for the first time today and decided to eat here. It was not a let down. This is not a cheap place by any means, however for the portions and quality it was WELL worth it! The breadsticks were good, nothing to go crazy over, but it’s bread at the end. Their signature red roasted dip was really tasty and not spicy. The salads tasted great and super fresh. For our entries I ordered the Whitefish Robinson and my Fiancée ordered the Whitefish Grenobois. Such a delicious meal! Wish we had a delicious place like this around the metro Detroit area. Instead wears stuck with truly overpriced places like Joe Muers!!!

Good food and good service. We were vacationing and tried this out on a Sunday night. A nice selection of wine by the glass with affordable prices. Will re visit next time we are in the area.

Best restaurant in Charlevoix. The wait is worth it, just get there early because they don’t take reservations. For some of our 45 minute wait we had drinks around the corner at The Villager. We started with the escargot which were plump and delicious. The salads were incredibly fresh. For my entrée I had the filet stuffed with roasted garlic which was perfectly cooked. My mom enjoyed her duck. Even the table bread was yummy! Overall it was a wonderful evening.

Had dinner here recently. Great food and service. Had the escargot, mushroom ravioli, and veal with morel sauce. All were awesome. You can split entrees for a ten dollar charge, and get the sides and salads for each person. Nice touch. Hidden gem. Small place and it filled up by six pm on a Monday.

Wife and I went for dinner. Got there on Sat about 6pm and got right in. I ordered Walleye and wife had Dover Sole special. You can order all fish prepared 4 different ways. We both chose Genobois which is with Lemon butter sauce and capers. Both were great! Service was also excellent. We topped it off with Chocolate mousse which which we highly recommend Ambience was also good. Would highly recommend.

All I can say is WoW! We’re sailing through the Great Lakes east and stopped in this charming town of Charlevoix, checked out Unilocal and Terry’s was a quick walk from the marina. Absolutely extraordinary! If I didn’t have good manners I would have licked the plate of that creamy morel sauce over those fantastic mushroom ravioli — I could eat a few plates of them! The salad was super crunchy and delicious with balsamic dressing and blue cheese sprinkles, and the special was a whitefish sautéed with a light tomato sauce and topped with nicely cooked fresh plump shrimp. I had stewed tomatos as a side which was also quite relish! You can’t go wrong choosing this lovely place!

I went to Terry’s a few weeks ago on a Friday night. When we arrived around 6, it was pretty quiet, but by 6:45 almost every table was filled. During the slow seasons, they have a 3 for $ 30 pre fixe menu. I thought this was a great value for the good quality of food. I had a ravioli app, the duck entrée, and the desert escapes me. The one bad thing about Terry’s is that although it shares a kitchen with Villager Pub, it doesn’t share their beer menu. Villager has a superb selection of drafts, while Terry’s is just standard domestic and import bottles.

This was terrific. We had escargot appetizer which was good. The bring fresh hot out of the oven rolls and have a delicious red pepper spread. We each had whitefish. DH had the special which was tomatoes, artichokes, capers and 3 large shrimp. I had the robinson, which was garlic and parsley. Both came with choice of salad or coleslaw. He had a salad with blue cheese that came with extra blue cheese crumble and i had the coleslaw, both were excellent. Both whitefish dishes were outstanding. Both had green beans and we choice hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were the best we’ve had. So the point is do not miss this place, it was delicious!!!

What a wonderful meal! I had the Walleye with lemon butter and asked them to add some garlic for me. It was incredible! My husband had the veal with morel sauce and still raves about it. We shared the raviolis, also with the morel cream sauce, and loved every bite. Service was great and personable. Another great Unilocal find!

I’ve been coming to Charlevoix almost annually for twenty years and make Terry’s a definite stop each time. Why? It’s because of the whitefish and attentive service. I was rewarded last week when the special was a blackened whitefish. I ordered it and was glad to hear they would prepare it they way I wanted, in their ala Robinson sauce, a mix of garlic, olive oil and parsley. It was amazing to the point of putting down my fork and thinking another one would be good, but I resisted, opting for the gold brick sundae instead. The place is small, intimate and gets busy quickly. If you’re in Charlevoix for a weekend, don’t go in there Saturday night expecting to be seated immediately, it’s not going to happen. We plan ahead and go on Sunday night or during the weekday when the crowds are smaller. Also, here’s a tip for Saturday night, Terry owns the Village Pub in front of Terry’s, you can order a lot of the whitefish dishes in there. A few other notes from our group last week. We ordered the mussels appetizer and was very pleased with the size of the muscles and the amount. The sauce they came in was excellent and had a nice kick to it, perfect for dipping the bread into. You can’t go wrong with their French onion soup, either. It’s made the authentic way, Gruyère cheese melted over the crock bowl. Finally, don’t forget the dessert. We always go for the Gold Brick Sundae, a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream covered in a chocolate that hardens into a thick shell, a must have.

Eight of us went to Terry’s last night, and we all had a fabulous meal. Think of how rare that is, for EVERYONE in a large party to declare their meals delicious. Six of us had Terry’s signature Long Island duck with Michigan cherry sauce. Even under the sauce, the duck skin remained nice and crispy while we ate. The duck was accompanied by slightly-crispy green haricot verts(very thin green beans). My other side dish was a baked sweet potato. My suggestion to Terry’s is either truly roast the sweet potatoes(these seemed to have steamed, probably from being baked in foil, which makes them bland) or offer toppings to give them more flavor. One person had the whitefish special, which last night was made with basil beurre blanc, and one had the New York strip steak. When I asked them how their meals were, they both said, «Excellent!» Two people had the french onion soup and loved it. I was one of three who had the escargot, which was very enjoyable. The snails, cooked in garlic butter, were big, meaty and tender. I’d also like to mention the garden salad. What’s so special about that? Sadly, it’s special because Terry’s seems to be one of the few places left, even among fine restaurants, that serves a fresh mix of greens. I would be surprised if they came out of a bag, because usually bagged greens have an odd odor and taste, and sometimes they are even musty! If Terry’s isn’t tearing up their greens fresh in the kitchen, you can’t tell. Another delicious item that everyone liked: The roasted red pepper/shallot/garlic/olive oil bruschetta-type relish for the bread. I don’t eat bread(celiac) but I enjoyed this relish on my salad instead of dressing. The only complaint anyone had was from a person who doesn’t like green beans. He wished that there were another vegetable choice. I also want to mention our waitress and our servers, who did a great job. Note to diners: Terry’s is a small restaurant that doesn’t take reservations, so call as far ahead as you can to «put your name on the list,» and take their suggestion for seating time. In the past we’ve waited a long time for a table, but this year we called a few days in advance, and when they asked if we could come earlier, we did, and we were seated right away. We will definitely come back to Terry’s when we return to Charlevoix.

Delightful! Went there with a large group, so we were able to sample everyone’s dishes. For starters, the mushroom ravioli were amazing. The sauce was rich, earthy and so creamy. I could have made a meal out of them! The lobster raviolis were good, but not like the mushroom ones. We also tried the crab cakes — I personally thought they were average, but they didn’t go to waste. Most people at the table ordered some variation of whitefish. Mine was topped with a lemon beurre blanc suave and capers — YUM. My hubby’s was topped with a mixture of fresh minced garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil — I preferred his! Another diner at our table had the scallops and said they were some of the best she ever had. Very quaint place — reminded me of a French bistro. Would definitely go back when we return to Charlevoix.

We have been to charlevoix many times and have never tried this place. We found it on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did The place is quaint and well decorated and the staff are very polite and attentive. The waitress we had was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about all the menu items. Sorry I forgot her name but she is short with salt and pepper shoulder length hair and wears glasses. If she is there on your visit please let her serve you. You will not be disappointed The first dish we had was the carb cakes. They were delicious. They were fried with a chipotle sauce that was fantastic. This was followed by our main course the Whitefish Genoblis this dish will take your breath away it was off the charts good. The fish was tender and flavorful and the presentation was like something out of a magazine. The place is wonderful and worth any effort to get there. Keep in mind they only serve dinner and the place is not all that big so get there ard 5pm if you can and leave out happy

Five stars hands down. This may have been one of the best meals I have ever had. I went with the waitress’ recommendation the whole way… wine, entrée, sides. Then sampled my friend’s food. They don’t take reservations so be prepared. We came just before closing(per restaurant recommendation). Our table was ready and waiting. The restaurant was packed even after we left(well after closing). No wonder!!!

Terry’s Place has a nice romantic atmosphere where you can dress up or dress casual. We arrived around 8:30 to a full house but lucked out and got the best lil romantic corner of the restaurant to dine in. While walking thru the restaurant I was glancing at the other diners food and everything looked awesome. I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli which all I can say was a total Foodgasm!!! A must if you like portabella and shitake mushrooms in a morel cream sauce. My salad was just healthy fresh greens and dressing. It needed a few more ingredients. I had the scallop florentine w/sautéed spinach and diced tomatoes in a lobster saffron cream sauce w/angel hair pasta. I didn’t taste any saffron and it didn’t quite come together taste wise. Although the scallops were delicious and perfectly seared. Maybe that’s why are waitress suggested the fresh fish entrees. Hubby had the veal morel with a generous portion of thin yummy green beans and a baked potato. His entrée would of been perfect if they used less sugar in his morel sauce. Kind of ironic because my wild mushroom ravioli in morel sauce was perfect and not overly sweet. They probably make the morel sauce fresh with each order. Service was above average. This is definitely a restaurant that makes gourmet quality food from scratch. I would definitely come back! I could eat the wild mushroom ravioli everyday!
