Awesome place. You can walk and breath fresh air. Connect yourself with the nature. I’ve seen different kinds of animals: from deers(a lot), squirrels, owls, snakes, turtles, different kind of birds, otters, herons, etc. come and see it by yourself. You can come with your family. Alone, with your pet. Walk, run, bike. The only con is that the restroom is in the parking. So use it before!!! Come and enjoy a different day. You won’t regret.

As stated by other reviewers, this greenway trail system is terrific. The paths are well-marked and well-maintained. The trails vary from paved, to dirt, to raised wooden plank. There is a trail head with a small parking lot as well as street parking at the corner of Rea Road and Bevington Place in Matthews that is really close to a Trader Joe’s, Starbucks, and a few other restaurants, which makes it a perfect spot for a stroll with coffee or after eating. The trails primarily cut through marshes/wetlands, so bug spray is a must in the spring/summer months.

Great path for an easy bike ride! It was really crowded though, but for good reason. Paved, with random bridges over flowers and what I would assume is the creek(drought). Will definitely come back, just not on the weekends

Great path for a jog or walking the dog! I usually park on Johnston. It’s a small lot, so sometimes it’s full on the weekends. If so, I park across the street near Sprint and grab the trail there. It’s a nice, peaceful path. I don’t suggest walking it alone as it is secluded in some areas. Overall, great family walk!

On a nice day outside, there’s no better place to get your workout in. I’ve been on my way to the gym, passing the parking lot and decided to get a workout in outside. Really the only problem was the bridges are slick when it was rained. I’m not the most coordinated person, so after a good rain I end up watching my feet more than enjoying my «run». This entrance is a lot less crowded most of the time than the Trader Joes entrance, about 2 miles of Greenway away. If you are feeling less social than this is a great entrance to avoid the crowds. A fun fact is that you can get a bench and a plaque added for the memory of loved ones. My in-laws had one installed about a mile in, and they said the process was super easy.

I have heard such great things about this greenway and I finally decided to check it out. There is so many different landscapes as you walk this greenway. Much of it is marsh and swamplike and therefore the path is an elevated wooden plank trail but occasionally you are on solid ground and the path is either concrete or asphalt. My first visit here was mid March and the trees were bare but I can see how this trail could actually be a lot cooler in the summer with the tree cover. But probably a lot of mosquitos due to the water. There is plenty of wildlife along the trails… Birds galore including ducks, robins, chickadees, woodpeckers, crows, birds of prey and more. Lots of frogs as well and probably a few turtles and snakes when it is warmer. This could possibly be my favorite greenway in Charlotte so far. It is far better than the one closer to my house.

If you love walking or riding your bike, this is the greenway for you! If you park off of Johnston Road, you’ll be lucky to find a spot because this is a popular place. With only a dozen parking spots, you can also go a block down and park in one of the nearby neighborhoods. There is a bathroom and a couple picnic tables at the start of the greenway. Careful if it has just rained, parts of the greenway(boardwalk) is slippery when wet. I hear that some bikers or joggers have slipped and fallen into the marsh below. Yuck and ouch. This pathway will please all age groups. It draws singles to families alike to walk, jog, or ride together. Makes you feel like you are far away from the city and you don’t have to travel far to get there.
