Well what can I say about this place not much other than we only saw the front door. This was my guys first choice to come to for his birthday to come out and have drinks together. Its his favorite place to come to on his days off he comes twice a week to sit at one of the tables by the front entrance where you can sit in the sun on nice days and people watch he has 2 beers then walks home. I have been before at night and had an ok time drinks are normal and prices were decent. I wasn’t surprised when my guy mentioned SIP as his first stop for drinks however that plan was promptly dismantled when we got out of the über at the front entrance and walked up to the bouncer. He asked for our IDs I showed mine while my guy got his out of his wallet when suddenly the bouncer said he couldn’t come in and mumbled something that I thought was about his shirt. I thought to myself since when does this place have a dresscode and what’s wrong with his shirt? I asked about it and the bouncer corrected me that he actually said that he couldn’t come in because he had already been drinking… excuse me? I didn’t realize you had been with us earlier. I explained to him that we had just come out this was our first stop for his bday and that he had only had a partial beer before this that he couldn’t even finish because the über arrived to pick us up. The bouncer snapped at me well where did we come from?! I said our house if you must know! I asked what signs he saw that made him come to this conclussion? My guy hadnt spoken yet so its not a slurred speech, he walked up the sidewalk from the über with no trouble so hes not stumbling, hes standing right in front of you showing you his ID, He then once more stated that we could not enter so enter we did not nor will we ever again. I was furious and thought about asking for a manager but the look on my guys face from being wrongfully denied entry to his first choice for his bday outing was enough to let me know I should leave it alone. I mean was it the way we looked? sounded? dressed? Ill never know because it definitely wasn’t that he had been drinking because that was our first stop for drinks! I have really never experienced anything like this before also what type of signs is this bouncer looking for when it comes to people being intoxicated? I have been a server and a bartender for a really long time I’m not anymore but I completely understand that its important to not serve anyone that has already been drinking to much for safety and liability reasons. But this was something else, we simply got out of the über walked up to the front and showed ID’s and were denied entry for reasons ill never understand. We went to Black Finn and Bubble after this terrible start to our night and ended up having an absolutely amazing time, those places I would absolutely recommend but unless you like your entry to places to be determined by how you look I would avoid SIP.

Out on the town celebrating one of my Best Friend’s birthdays and decided to stop at SIP Charlotte for a drink. It was my turn to buy a round of drinks so once I checked in and saw that I got 25% off, I was ecstatic. I walked up to the bar to see what draft beer options they had to offer. Unfortunately the options were limited so I went with a NoDa Hop Drop ‘n Roll and my friends went with Bud Light’s. I thought the bartenders were a bit rude. I flashed my 25% off Unilocal check-in offer and they had zero idea what it was, I even questioned if I checked in at the correct place. But, she did get the manager who came over and adjusted my tab. On a positive note, I did enjoy watching UNC crush Syracuse on their big screen TV!

My friend and I came here to watch a panthers game, it was kinda empty but we enjoyed that so we could watch the game and catch up over drinks. I enjoyed this place that day, I’ve never been on a busy night so they get 5 stars for my first impression.

Not my favorite club by any stretch, but Sip is worth a visit if for any other reason than the wonderful bouncer. Caring, compassionate and thoughtful. Love supporting places who employ people like him!

I recently went back to SIP, This is an update to a previously bad review I had before. They remodeled the interior and appeared to have all new management and employees. So far this experience I was impressed. They even had a live band playing, which is very loud, but I enjoyed the music. Drinks are moderately priced at about $ 6 vodka special. The appearance seems to attract a cosmopolitan crowd. From the previous«Town Tavern» ownership, they tried more so for the club scene. I am unaware of how the weekend would be as this review is for Wednesday night. I met with the new manager, and he was friendly and helpful. To conclude, they appear to be heading in the right direction for the Uptown Charlotte scene; and I am glad I gave them another chance.

I recently used the Cellar @ SIP for one of my hostess’ Pure Romance parties. I was so impressed with the space, how supportive the staff were in making sure I had everything I needed, and the vibe and energy of the bar. I’m hopeful that another one of my hostesses wants to rent the space for her own party( ) because it was the perfect venue for a wonderful Ladies’ Night Out! Thank you again, SIP Team!

Do not go here. There are a hundred other bars to go to in walking distance besides this one. The staff is rude, the music is not good, and they try to charge a cover when there is nobody inside. The last experience I had with this establishment was awful. We weren’t even at this bar, just standing outside on the sidewalk talking, when one of the bouncers/bartenders(I’m not sure his position) sprayed me and four other friends with a water hose to get us to move away(we were not even inside the bar area). After several choice words, and no apology, other employees proceeded to yell at us and stick up for their moronic and rude employee. I don’t know how or why this place is still open. Don’t bother.

Nothing great, nothing terrible. Place was pretty packed this weekend for the final four games, but quickly emptied out once the games were over. The DJ was mediocre, but still played top 40 so good enough to keep it entertaining. I’m not as into the dark and sticky bar scene anymore, but for a random last minute night out, it’s OK as long as you don’t have to pay cover.

Stephen Hawking could serve me a drink faster than these idiots. Stay away. Bartender are not attentive and do not pay attention to when your drink is empty.

Decent little bar in the touristy part of downtown Charlotte. There is a dance floor downstairs, but I did not venture down there. Beer and drink selection is good, and reasonably priced. If you want food though, best keep waling. I ordered a basket of wings and not only did they take an extremely long time, they were nothing special. Decent place to grab a beer and watch a game though.

Not a bad little place to stop in and have a drink in Uptown. Setting is very casual. Drinks are reasonably priced for the area(they usually have a few specials going on) and the bartenders Ive had have been quick and friendly. Last time we were there, they had a guy playing acoustic guitar, and he was very good. SIP will likely never be your«destination» for the entire evening uptown, but certainly a great place to peek in, have a drink, and hang out.

I came in around 5:30pm on a Friday afternoon to grab a post work beverage. It was not busy at all but I waited several minutes sitting at the bar while the bartender messed around on her phone. Once she finally finished her personal business, I ordered a Yuengling draft. I enjoyed my beer while the live music was just starting. My beer sat empty for 10 minutes before I could get the bartender’s attention so I could grab my bill. I realize this is Uptown Charlotte, but $ 6 for a domestic pint is ridiculous.

Sip is pretty cool spot with a friendly staff. I see some of the negative reviews but that was under prior management. I usually go to the nightclubs but found Sip to be a nice change of pace. I would definitely recommend checking out while you’re bar hopping or just trying to throw some back.

I used to like this place a little bit more when it was Town Tavern. There are some relatively inexpensive beer choices and an OK dance floor in the basement. The crowd is not the greatest, but you cannot really hope for much at this type of bar. The staff here tends to be indifferent, so the inmates run the asylum. We had a wonderful time trying to convince the staff that a young lady passed out on the bar needed assistance finding a way home safely, but they seemed annoyed when we sought them out, or told us she was fine. My past few experiences have really turned me off to this place. I will probably be avoiding it in the future.

I went in last night and tried to use a Unilocal coupon for 25% off for checking in and the bartender told me they wouldn’t accept it so I wasn’t happy about that so fair warning to other Unilocalers. Fairly cheap drinks and there is usually not a cover. Mainly this is the only reason I go to this place. It used to be Town Tavern and the only thing they really did to change it was some new paint, a cooler looking bar, and raised the price of drinks. Budlight bottles are 3 dollars here which is pretty average for anywhere around uptown.

This place has changed hands so many times it is hard to keep up. I think it was most recently Town Tavern and Brick and Barrel before that. It is a great place to grab an after work pint as the main level is a cozy room with upgraded décor from the last palce. However at night, the basement is a dance club. I have not been down there since it became SIP but I do recall losing my hearing for a day down there as the enclosed space traps in whatever beats the DJ is throwing out there. It was a good dance venue though as long as you’re not claustrophobic. One perk to going to SIP is that they supposedly have a working relationship with Fitzgerald’s who will validate your parking at the 5th St garage. That is a huge bonus Uptown.
