I think I ate more at this UYE than all the others combined. The cupcake, which was AWESOME, put me over the edge and it was pretty tough not napping when we got home. Or in the car. So good. Great turnout + more free crap( Unilocal tatts? NERDALERT) + informative waitstaff = Rad UYE. Some new faces, one well-traveled EF, and the crew made for good times. Thanks Chad + Denise!

My first UYE! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, thanks! Food was yum, service was great, and, most importantly, company was fantastic! That cupcake from Denise was amazing. Chipotle spice in cupcake? Genius. Unilocal swag bag, I feel like an official Unilocaler now! I’m totally putting a tattoo on for the next UYE, even if that makes me a nerd: P UYE: Pio Pio = Success!

Shortly after our last UYE(at Las Palmas), we started planning for the next one. Only it took a couple of weeks since we were in the process of getting the new house ready. And we’re still working on that. In the meantime, we contacted Cesar, the manager/owner/proprietor of Pio Pio, and let him know that we’d have 10 – 15 Unilocal crazies descending on his establishment, and asking for his help. Strangely, he thought it would be a good idea, and also thought that sticking with the early-afternoon Saturday of last month would be a good idea, so we kept at it. The end result was another good turnout: Annie W. April L. Bill F. Chad E.(+ Denise E., along with our youngest and a special guest) Dave S.(+ Danielle) E F. Julia S.(+ Erik) TR P. Apparently Faith D. had to pull out at the last minute, Peter L. showed up a tad late, as everyone was already gone(we had to leave early to pick up our other child, so didn’t know how long everyone else hung around) and Joseph L. was nowhere to be seen. Anyone seen him? Has everyone accounted for the whereabouts of Hazel G. In any case, Cesar gave us a quick rundown of the specialties of the house — especially the drinks(appreciated by TR!), and also tossed some yummy empanadas our way, then we passed out some more tiny bags o’ scwag(almost to the end — we’ll have to find some more to give out!), then dug into what is possibly the tastiest rotisserie chicken in the QC — and other assorted sides, but the chicken is definitely the star here. For a surprise dessert, Denise E.(that would be my wife) regaled us with a treat — her chipotle lime chocolate cupcakes. Perhaps needless to say, but they were a hit. In fact, the event was also a hit, besting last month’s turnout by one. Sweet. Even Wild Bill noshed a bit, but it seems these early events aren’t quite his cup of tea. (pics to come) Who is taking the lead on the next one?
