$ 6.50 a game and then I asked if the lanes were oiled and she just laughed… Most expensive bowling and shit lanes really… Then the food, 12 $ for nachos and it was 5 bites, will not be returning.

Idk why the reviews were so bad. My job went for a team building exercise– these reviews scared me… This is a modern facility with big screens and up to date scoring computers. The staff was friendly and the pizza wasn’t bad(NOT frozen pizza at all). Go there, take the family, spend money…

Came here for to play a game with my kids. Had a great time. Everyone was very accommodating(ramp for the little one and bumpers). Didn’t have any food but we did have a great time.

Rip off for people with children. I have a two year old and was told she would be the same price as adult for two hours. $ 18.95 for a kid who can’t even bowl. We just wanted to have fun with her. Will never go back.

I’ve been to Kegler’s Lanes a handful of times after joining a bowling league that meets on Tuesday. Every week we go through the same thing – the line for beer, which comes with the league fee, takes forever. The lanes have some type of technical difficulty, and the people that work there ignore calls over the intercom and do not come over to assess the situation. These issues with the lanes make games take a lot longer than they should. Given that this is the only bowling alley in Charlottesville, we still go there, but it’s not a great bowling alley.

I tried to call them for a quick question. Was put on hold twice for a total of 20 mins. Gave up waiting. Called back again and was greeted by «Im busy so what do you want.» This is some of the worst customer service I have ever gotten. We have always gone there for bowling but it was just off putting to be treated so poorly over the phone.

This was hands-down the most expensive evening of bowling in my entire life, including the time I went to a bowling alley at Chelsea Pier in Manhattan. Upon arrival, there was a big line at the check-in, so bf and I decided to grab a drink. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes without even a nod from the worker. When we finally went to get the lane, the manager didn’t know how to scan the coupon on my phone and wouldn’t honor it. The drinks were soooooo overpriced

A below average bowling alley with terrible food and drinks that are way too expensive. Whenever I write reviews, I try to keep everything in perspective — I’m not going to judge a fast food place against a high end eatery. Keeping AMF in perspective, I can conclusively say that they are mediocre at best. Let’s start with the bowling itself. My group of friends came on a Thursday night for College night, which was $ 6.99 for unlimited bowling and shoe rental. we arrived at 7:58 pm, and went up to the desk with student IDs in hand. The person behind the desk outright refused to serve us the discount until 8PM on the nose, resulting in us waiting for two minutes until the clock struck 8PM. I know the policy is technically the discounts don’t start until 8PM, and I’m not one to take off points because the business wouldn’t grant me an exception to clearly stated rules, but come on — what difference will TWO minutes make with the place half-empty? You’re running a bowling alley not a night club. Plus the general attitude of the employee was very condescending. That being said, the bowling area is actually pretty nice — red lounge seats, plenty of bowling balls in your typical small-medium-large-extra large weight varieties. Outside of that, this place really goes downhill fast. On the website it clearly states that on Thursdays the specials are«$ 2 PBRs and $ 10 pizza.» Apparently, we were the only ones who knew about it, as the staff kept refusing to give us the discounts, even after arguing with them for a bit(finally the manager granted the discounts after looking at the website). The pizza was pretty terrible — under-cooked and tasted like the the $ 3 pizza you can get in the frozen food section of your local low-end grocery store. The bartender didn’t really know how to make any mixed drinks, even the easy ones, having to look them up in a book behind the bar. The result was a terrible mixed drink for $ 10. The other reviews describing the staff as «indifferent» is the correct adjective — no one seemed happy to be there. Overall, if you just want to bowl this place is easily four stars. If you want anything else — food, drinks, customer service, etc. — the rating drops pretty quickly. Just know what you’re getting before going and keep expectations low. Also, I’m pretty sure it’s the only place in Charlottesville to bowl.

Pretty crowded on a Saturday night. A little pricey, but a great time.

I really don’t understand the reviews saying this places is overpriced, or the service is bad, or that it’s particularly dated. Perhaps it’s a matter of perspective and some of these folks haven’t been bowling since the 1970’s but, bowling isn’t particularly cheap and this place is a pretty great deal compared to other places I’ve been between New England and DC. On any given day you’re looking at about $ 16 for shoe rental, lane, and about two to three games. They have specials though on Tuesdays where everything is reduced to $ 2(including $ 2PBR). They also have a deal on Thursday and Sunday where you can bowl for $ 13.95 with unlimited pizza. The pizza isn’t all that enticing in that deal because it looks like something you’d get from Chuck E. Cheese, but all things considered the price to bowl is plenty fair and the place is clean and definitely up to date with other AMF lanes. Fun times to be had!

We stumbled in here on a sweltering Saturday afternoon for some AC and a pitcher of cold beer. It was, oddly, cosmic bowling at that time(Saturday at 4:30?), but this added to the mental cooling. Pretty light crowd: a few families, some couples. Of the 40-or-so lanes, I’d say less than half were being used. It’s a relatively newly-renovated, clean bowling alley, and they project music videos on giant screens at the ends of the lanes. I can’t remember the last time I watched music videos! We bowled three games at about $ 6 game, and shoe rentals were about $ 4. Then we ordered a pitcher of beer, and here’s where things got interesting… So they brew beer at Kegler’s. There is a small brewing operation you can see from the parking lot, and if you stroll over there, they’ve posted a brief statement from their brewer. We asked our server about what she had available, and she actually discouraged us from trying the homebrew. She said every time customers have ordered it, it’s been sent back. We insisted, and she brought out samples of both their Stryker’s Pale Ale and the Jefferson Brown Ale. The Stryker’s was a nice light beer, and we ended up ordering a pitcher of it($ 18). The Jefferson Brown, however, was just bad. She mentioned that it’d been on tap for a while, so perhaps it’s just gone bad, but I can honestly say I’ve never had a worse homebrew. The food menu is about what you’d expect from a bowling alley. Apparently they’ve been around a while and have cleaned up their act in recent years. As it’s the only bowling alley in the area, you might not have a choice — but I’d say check it out even if you do. Just sample the homebrew before you order.
