I go to albemarle dermatology and they recommended going to signature med spa to help get rid of brown spots on my face. Setting up an initial consultation was a little bit difficult. I was put on hold several times and the receptionist kept asking my name as if she and forgotten it after putting me on hold each time. When I finally did get in for the consultation I was a little late. They still fit me in however, I felt rushed and I didn’t speak with an actual doctor. Now after reading reviews I am not quite sure if I wish to return. I don’t want to end up with scars.

My experience was extremely positive. I had absolutely no problem getting an appointment. In fact, I left a voice mail one evening during the busy holiday season and received a return call bright and early the next morning. Stephanie managed to work me in and everybody was pleasant, friendly, yet very professional. I will return and will recommend Signature Spa to my friends.

I’m not quite sure about the experience of others, but I do know that all of my experiences have been extremely positive! The staff is always friendly and professional and every treatment I’ve had has been so worth the money. I had rosacea and was embarrassed by my face being red all the time. I had three IPL treatments and the difference is amazing. No longer embarrassed by a red face!

I would not recommend Signature Medical Spa or at least NOTFORCHEMICALPEELS(ANDQUITFRANKLY, NOPROCEDUREPERFORMEDBYDR. LINDAPITT). I have had acne since I was 10 years old(I’m now in my mid 20’s) and at some point I developed not only face acne but also bacne aka back-acne! Although I’ve gotten the breakouts under control I was left with a lot of scarring. After using fade creams and having little luck, I decided I would go for a more aggressive treatment like microdermabrasion or chemical peels(at the time I didn’t know which one would work best for me). When I was a student at the University of Virginia, I went to Albemarle Dermatology(located above Signature Medical Spa.) So when looking for a cosmetic dermatologist I remembered Signature Medical from my past visits to the dermatologist’s office. Although I had moved back home after graduating from UVa, I decided I would make the 2 hour trip to Charlottesville for what I though would be a worth while treatment for my scars. Well I was sadly(and literally painfully…) mistaken. My 1st visit went well. After I explained my problem to Dr. Pitt we decided that chemical peels would be the best approach. But she explained that to get the chemicals into the skin(and have them work best) it was customary to 1st etch the skin with a LITTLE microdermabrasion. We went through this process(a little micro followed by the chemical peel) and within several days the chemical peel was working. My 2nd(ANDLAST) visit was a different story however. When Dr. Pitt started the microdermabrasion I felt a lot more pressure and pain than I had the 1st time. After I let her know that I was uncomfortable she realizes«oh the machine is turned up to high and there is to much pressure… let me turn it down. This is a different machine than I used the last time because someone is using the other one right now». Although she changed the machine’s pressure, she was half way down my back and there was still A LOT of pressure on the machine(and subsequently a lot of pressure as my back was being scratched not just on the surface but very deeply). When she finished, she noticed whelps on my back and gave me Eucerin lotion samples and said this moisturizer would help. I was in pain the entire ride home and when I arrived at my house I looked in the mirror to discover swollen red horizontal whelps going down my entire back. I freaked out of course and showed my mother who asked«what happened!» since she had seen my back after my 1st chemical peel. My mother immediately began asked why my back looked so awful. I called Linda right away to inform her that I was in pain and that my back looked like I had been beaten like a run away slave.(I’m an African American so I figure I can make this joke)… But in all seriousness my back actually looked like I had been whipped. I expressed by concerns that I would be left with scars and Linda says. «Well we’d like to get you into the office to take a look.» And then I remind her that I live two hours from the office(glad she was paying attention as we discussed this earlier that day). She NEVER apologized but instead kept explaining why I had the marks on my back(as If I didn’t already know). She kept saying«there was a lot of pressure on the machine» as if the machine was operating itself. She then insured me that the deep scratches on my back would actually allow the chemicals to penetrate deeper into my skin and I would achieve a better peel(SPOILERALERT… this WASNOT the result). She told me to take some anti inflammatory pains medication and said she would send a topical cream that would temporarily stop my skin from producing pigment, and would thus prevent scarring. Well get this, after several days I received a slip from the post office saying that I needed to pick up a package from Signature Medical Spa and on it I see that the«requires extra postage» box was checked. When I got to the post office I actually had to pay additional postage because whomever sent the package hadn’t put enough postage on the envelop. I was furious and immediately called Linda again. Once again she was very unapologetic for the part she had in making a bad situation(my bacne scars) even worse. She goes on to blame her office staff and promises she will send more cream to prevent scars and will mail it personally. Linda definitely needs a lesson in taking responsibility for her actions! After receiving her 2nd package, using it and all that was in the 1st batch, needless to say I still not only have the acne scars but now, also horizontal lines on my shoulders! My 1st time doing any kind of cosmetic procedure and of course with my luck, I end up with a horror story. Just wanted to prevent this from happening again by letting the Unilocal community know about my experience with Signature Medical Spa and Dr. Linda Pitt, which was not good :(
