I come here often and the food and service is decent. But this time the food just tasted like s**t. The nachos were bland and the meat on it was warm at best. The bourbon steak had the fries stale and soft and the steak itself was greased down in the oil. I’ve had this steak numerous times and it’s never like this. Oh well just thought I’d warn people of what I got. I don’t know if it’s a new chef, different manager, or the fact that only 15 maybe 20 people are in the place and the staff calls it busy but they need to fix something.

Reason for 1 Star: The service Our waitress did not know the menu, could not handle her workload, got our orders incorrect, and seemed frustrated/agitated. Not knowing the menu: I ask a question about the menu and was given inaccurate information about what came with the meal and had to correct her. In addition, someone at my table ask what flavors were available and she could not remember. Could not handle her workload: We waited for refills, other tables in her section ask other servers for assistance, and she did not remove any of our unused plates/cups/saucers until I stacked and combined everything and placed it where she had to but my meal. Got our orders incorrect: We ordered two appetizers and as soon as she walked away I said«I guarantee she did not get both of them». When she returned I asked and she only had one. Another example someone at my table ordered a side with their meal and was given the wrong side. Frustrated/agitated: Her tone was short at times and always in a hurry. *Recommendation for management* Additional training on the menu and reduce the number of tables while you observe her to ensure high quality and customer service. Sorry for the long review!

Outside of restaurant is dirty, with cigarette butts and old drinks. Seat was still dirty from previous evening and there was old food stuck on the menu and table. Waiter was more interested in yelling to the bar tender about her next hair style then getting our drink order. We left.

Went for dinner takeout while traveling on business. The place was packed because it was election night and the place was decorated as if it was somebody’s campaign headquarters but found out it wasn’t but they just decorated for the election. Typical Applebee’s food and service. Food was good and they got my order correct.

I love Applebees. I’d stopped going because of service and other issues, but recently went back because I hoped things had changed. They had! Our server was Pamela P. at the Applebees off of 28 North in Charlottesville. She was incredible! She was friendly, helpful, funny, relaxed even though it was crazy busy. She brought our drinks out immediately, got our orders 100% right, was there when we needed refills or had a question — like she read our mind! We left almost a 25% tip because she was so good. Too bad she only works weekends, but wow. The food: We got the two-for-$ 25 steak. The meat was fabulous, it had been chewy and gristle ridden in the past. Potatoes were divine, the perfect margaritas were just that — perfect. I got Peach and asked for the rim to be rimmed in sugar… and it was incredible. Service was fantastic, so was the food and the service. The manager was active and engaged. Very good experience. I’ll definitely go back. If you want $ 50 taste and food, then go to Outback or any of Charlottesville’s high dollar steak houses. For what we paid it was better than I could have fixed myself, and it was a great evening. As for the folks who think servers take your drink order AND food order at the same time, you must be used to greasy spoon diners. They take your drink order and THEN your food order. This gives you time to look at the menu and get settled and THINK about what you want. If you’re expecting fast food and McDonald’s attitudes, go to McDonalds. Dining is an experience and if you don’t know how to appreciate DININGOUT you’re going to be upset that things don’t move in seconds. Our service was quick, but allowed us time to read the menu without feeling rushed or forgotten. Great place!

It’s Applebee’s so you kind of know what you are getting. It had all the usuals — two for $ 20, decent service, no wait. We came specifically to watch the Nebraska Huskers play Fresno State. Because it was on the West Coast, the game didn’t start until 10:30 p.m. They accommodated our desire and switched a TV over to the nondesired game. Even late, our food came out quickly and hot. Honestly, my three-cheese penne was saucier than usual, which I liked. We finished off eating with desert, and that was sadly the low light for me. My hot fudge sundae shooter was super drenched in chocolate sauce. They were super great about taking our coupon and using the gift cards. We stayed until the 1 a.m. close and left full. Plus, the Huskers were winning. We couldn’t watch until the end of the game, but the gap was huge so it was all right. If it wouldn’t have been and we had to leave, they would probably get fewer stars just because we were bummed.

Enjoyed the service I received from Stephanie G in the bar area tonight. Sampler appetizers were really good, I included a photo. I hosted a Happy Hour here for my customers and service was top– notch. Will return, thanks!

Upon arrival, I expected my dining experience to be up to the usual standard for this chain. Unfortunately, the service was such a disappointment that I will not be returning. Arriving well after the standard ‘lunch hour’ on a Saturday afternoon, I was pleased to see that the place was not overcrowded. The initial wait for a server was longer than expected and when she arrived, she chose not to take our food order but to only ask for our drink order. She never brought the drinks. Another server stepped in some time later and asked for our drink order again. Eventually the drinks arrived. After an extensive wait(the server cleared the dishes from a nearby table and tended to other unknown tasks) another server returned to take our orders, then returned again some time later to confirm part of the order. Our drinks were empty for an extensive period of time before someone finally took the time to refill them. The wait for the food was seemingly endless. No one checked to see if we were satisfied. Another endless wait for drink refills was followed by an even longer wait for the check. Unable to keep silent, I voiced by extreme disappointment with the poor service received and was offered«I’m sorry honey. It’s change of shift.» as the excuse. I won’t be returning. I’m certain there are plenty of restaurants in Charlottesville that can please my palate and provide a decent level of service … this particular Applebee’s just isn’t one of them.
