If you are looking for beautiful, high quality furniture and art, I highly recommend this store. This is a high end store and they get it. There are some bargains in the store but, where they shine is in the high end furniture and art. I visit a lot of antique and boutique stores because, I know and love high end brands, quality, and beauty. Some people just don’t understand that an Italian«Reversi» sectional sofa from Molteni & Co costs ~$ 10,000. It was really nice to talk to the staff because, they refreshingly understood this and, could articulate the origin and quality of the items I was interested in. Yes, I spent $ 2,850 but, I found some valuable relics that I have been searching for for years. Thank you Consignment House!

Consignment House is one of the most interesting stores in Downtown Charlottesville. It is not inexpensive because they sell quality hard to find items at probably half price than antique stores. They always have a variety of collections, they should be in a museum, is really fun to stroll the store to find a special treasure. This is a place for designers, or people looking for mid Century furniture, interesting artifacts, and amazing jewelry. the owner has been in business for over 15 years and he is a character, we had so much fun talking to him. I highly recommend this place as a must place to visit in Charlottesville.

This place has always been hit or miss, mainly miss. My wife and I have been antiquing for years. Do we expect to rip off the seller? Certainly not. Do we expect the seller to be reasonable with pricing? Certainly yes. Consignment House often has some interesting items, but they’re OVERPRICEDASHELL. Just yesterday, before writing this review, we saw they had a Maxfield Parrish print in a frame, which, mind you, was neither the original frame, NORANORIGINALPRINT, and they were selling it for $ 225. HAHAHAAH. Really? Let’s see, I can print out the same thing at FedEx for around $ 12, then have it framed for around $ 85 with conversation glass. Save ourselves about $ 200. It always makes us laugh to see prices so high, when really the place would move and get more business if they’d be more reasonable. We’ve seen items for sale there since we first arrived in the city over 8 years ago, same prices. GET A CLUE. At least it’s easy to find.
