The Tofu wide noodles with caramelized onions are so very, very good! The collard wraps are my favorite! Everything here is fresh, healthy, and tasty! I just wish they could be open on the weekends, but I understand.

For dinner, I had the fried tofu with caramelized onions on rice noodles, Thai spicy, and it was absolutely spectacular. A combination of fabulous service, refined cooking skills, and a cohesive vision make this hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese vegan/vegetarian restaurant an instant favorite. Occupying only a kitchen and some sidewalk space, this restaurant offers perfectly portioned take away meals, serving a niche not yet satisfied in Charlottesville. Vu Noodles makes a valuable contribution to the culinary scene in Charlottesville and I will doubtlessly be back for more.

Looked and looked and looked, google mapped, asked, and guided… Couldn’t find this place to save our lives. We walked the area for 15 minutes before realizing something can’t be right and had to give up. WHEREAREYOU???

Delicious! Everything was fresh and filled with so much flavor in every bite! Tofu was amazing! Definitely recommend To top it off customer service was amazing. I felt at home and with friends even though we are new to the area! I was with my two children and she was so very helpful, nice and friendly with our family! Recommend walking to location as its in the downtown mall. You won’t be disappointed!

Very neat and TINY little hole-in-the wall place(actually, kind of literally) which serves vegan/vegetarian food. Vu Noodles doubles up with Greenies(known collectively as The Spot) and owned by the two lovely human beings Julie and Kathy, and it’s a great SPOT to hit up some nice quick delicious food that’s guaranteed to be as clean as it comes. We grabbed the tofu with caramelized onions, wheat noodles, and vegan sauce, and a couple bbq jackfruit tacos(from Greenies) and ate while chatting with Kathy. The noodles were SUPERB. Tasted like authentic Vietnamese food which is a niche that is sorely lacking in Charlottesville. In the end, they ended up being more than a little spicy for me, but it was just so good, I easily overlooked it. We took the BBQ Jackfruit tacos to go and ate them a bit later, but my eyes are definitely opened to a new way of eating jackfruit. Food was served very quickly and tasted excellent. Will definitely be coming back! ps: It really is a literal hole-in-the-wall place, more like a window where you order food, so expect to take your food to go or sit elsewhere to eat because there are literally two chairs at the counter.

One of the most beautiful things about Vietnamese food is that it’s utterly fresh and healthy. We don’t mess around with too much sodium, MSG, oil, and fats. Julie Vu has done an amazing job of benefiting from this aspect with her deliciously crafted Vietnamese vegetarian dishes. Often people complain that tofu is bland and gross but I can promise you that will never be an issue here. She is a wonderful woman to talk to, very kind and cheery, and the food is THEBEST. Despite it being vegetarian, it’s the best thing we have close to Viet food. I had the spring rolls and the caramelized onions and tofu bowl and it’s amazing. I highly recommend it!

I love Greenies and Vu Noodles! At their 2nd street location, I had the collard wrap, which was fresh and delicious, and my husband had one of the tofu noodle bowls which was also amazing. We walked up to the nearby park and ate, which was nice, but you can hang out and eat by the window as well and have delightful conversations!

My friend and I were craving a bowl of phở but had given up hope of satisfying our desires for an authentic bowl of Asian noodles when behold, a simple Unilocal search for Vietnamese noodles revealed Vu! We knew it was a winner when we turned off the downtown mall and spotted a large banner with a couple stools underneath and just a small window in a wall. I ordered the tofu with caramelized onions on wide noodles, while my friend ordered the ginger lemongrass tofu on rice noodles. It was a steamy day so I also got a green tea lemonade with chia seeds to wash it down. The lady who runs the shop is a super friendly local mom who moved to the States from Vietnam at an early age. She offered us samples of several tofu preparations and let us hog the window seats and chat with her for a good while. Both dishes were really flavorful and had that clean, ungreasy homemade feel. Can’t wait to go back and try the banh mi. Hope she moves into a permanent establishment soon! «This place should be renamed Vu-DOO noodles because we’re under her spell!» — Batul A.

Vu Noodles has teamed up with Greenies and the result is magic. I’ve had the tofu caramelized onion noodles which were super satisfying, just barely sweet from onions and amazing. The jackfruit BBQ is AMAZING and a game changer. I am not a vegan, I’m not even a vegetarian, but I am a HUGE fan of The Spot. Finally the perfect thing for this tiny, friendly storefront.

I went here today for lunch after reading an article on the Charlottesville 29 blog. I was very impressed. I ordered spring rolls and the tofu caramelized onion noodle bowl. Both were tasty, and it was a good amount of food for the price. The woman working in the restaurant was very friendly. It definitely will be on my list of go-to lunch places.

I am not a vegetarian but every time I pass by this place my nose does the happy dance. So I finally stopped and started asking questions and requested the special of the day. WOW! What a pleasant surprise. I have since stopped by three more times and have yet to be even a little disappointed or dissatisfied. My last experience I had the Ginger Noodles and Spring Rolls. They were so good, I brought a friend back later that evening to try them out and she also loved them as well. If you are in the Historic Downtown Mall area and are hungry, you will not regret Vu Noodles @ the spot! The women running the place are also great! Very Friendly and super talented! Thanks for a great experience ladies! Hats off
