We stopped into Eddy’s Tavern to grab a drink on very chilly night. I wanted something warm, but they have very limited options – the beer list is okay, but they are a pretty standard college bar without anything special. They serve food and the entire place smelled very strongly like fries – we were just there for drinks, so I wasn’t a fan of this. The bartender was a college student who was slightly unprofessional talking to friends at the bar about wanting to get off of work. Maybe this place is better for dinner, rather than just drinks, but I don’t think I would go back with so many other options on the Corner.

Having worked in bars and restaurants before, I cannot begin to understand how the two bartenders here on a Thursday night are employed in any customer service role. While the place was certainly overcrowded(on the eve of a snow day) and I’m sure they were not having the best night, both were moving at a geologic pace, taking many short breaks, and pouring stingy overpriced drinks even by college town standards. The final straw was watching a bartender look to his coworker in plain view and motion his hands to his face in the shape of a gun to make a ‘FML/suicide’ joke. Not only is this far from funny or entertaining, but it occurred in front of no less than two dozen people, packed around a bar waiting an average of 15 minutes for service. If something similar ever occurred anywhere else I’ve been or worked, that person would have been fired on the spot. While the live music is great, it’s time to find some more professional, competent staffers with class, Eddy’s. Oh, and lower your prices. You’re in central Virginia.

My boyfriend and I were in town visiting his family. We decided to explore downtown Charlottesville, while we waited for the evening family festivities to begin. We parked the car near UVA, and searched for a place to eat. The only option was Eddy’s Tavern. We were really happy it turned out this way because the food was great and the service was even better. The bar said they were closing for a few hours starting at 2 p.m. It was around 1:30 p.m., when we walked in. We asked if that was okay because we didn’t want to hold up the employees on a holiday. They were incredibly inviting and said it was no trouble. We decided to start our meal with an appetizer. We chose the fried pimento cheese. It was really good, but incredibly fattening. However, we were on vacation so all that goes out the window. The app was house-made pimento cheese that was rolled up into large balls covered in panko bread crumbs and fried. Yummy! For a meal, we decided to split the white cheddar shells and cheese plate(a fancier way of just saying mac and cheese). All I have to say is OMG! It was large, filling and absolutely bursting with flavor. We gave this dish to split a thumbs up. If that wasn’t enough fat, we decided to add a dessert into the mix. We ordered the salted caramel crunch cake. This light, buttery, vanilla-flecked cake had waves of caramel and salted caramel crunch. It was also layered with a creamy custard and topped with a caramel finish. This was highly recommended by the waiter, and he did not streer us wrong. Ahhh-mazing I have explained how the comfort-type foods that we ordered were awesome. However, there was more to it. The waiter was so nice. He had this infectious laugh with a great personality. After he served us, we heard him chatting with his coworkers just laughing and having a good time. It was just nice to hear that because it truly felt like they enjoyed their job and especially having to work on a holiday. If I ever come back to the area, I would definitely stop by here again. I found the food to be delicious and the staff to be awesome. Thumbs up to a great Charlottesville dining experience!

I came here with friends and ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. When my meal arrived at the table, I took a bite of my sandwich only to bite into raw, cold chicken. Although it looked decently cooked on the outside it was completely raw on the inside. Will never return!

The first time we ate here it was fun and tasty. This time, wow. We sat we ordered then waited forever. The food was burned and when we commented on it she did bring new fries. Needed water even asked, had to ask again. When we again said the food was not good it was burned, no one cared. The least she could of done was get the manager. Nobody cared. Will be a long time beore we try them again.

Totally fine. The meals were good, I had a chicken salad which tasted good. The chicken was well cooked. The merica mule was refreshing on a hot day. Server was nice and attentive but we did feel shooed away when she was going off shift and cashed us out. Bottom line: nothing special but nothing bad.

Eddy’s was originally Poe’s. My oh my, the prices here are pretty expensive, not too up there but ya know. I don’t know if it’s exactly worth it. I paid 10+ for an alfredo pasta that did not even have meat in it. Don’t get me wrong, it was actually yummy, but still. what. Other than that, food seemed pretty good but I don’t know if you’d want to keep coming here especially if you’re on a budget.

Ate there yesterday and goodness it was good. I like the fried pimento cheese balls-.they come with 6 and a side of. ranch for dipping. I got the Southern Meatloaf sandwich and my bf got the Annabel Lee. For avg. 10 $ they give you a MONSTROUS sized burger and a generous helping of crispy old– bay fries. I usually hate old bay but the seasoning is light and just right. I love that they use toased brioche for buns too, it’s perfect. The waiter was super nice and attentive!
