Ok I admit I am getting old and the college bar thing I believe I have finally outgrown. Come her for cheap beer, big crowds on weekend, and lots of activities(outside bar with corn hole etc). If your in college your going to love it(but still think it’s a bit dirty so drink enough to notice less). If your not looking for the college scene stay clear. I have it 4 stars rating it as the college bar it is and what I would rate it in my 20s. If I were rating it for myself today I would probably give it a 2(but I’m no longer their demographic so that would be an unfair rating).

Good casual lunch. Typical college campus bar and grill. Sits in a historic boarding house for girls back in the days of the all male UVA. We had there BBQ sandwich special with curly fries and a garden salad. Everything was made on site and the pork was a 22 hr smoked pork! I would recommend stopping in for a bite

This place was great. 1st, it’s a sunny day and most of the outdoor tables are under pergola /shrubbery. So cool… literally. 2nd, the waitress was super friendly /provided good service. Finally, had the B Sandwich for breakfast and it was outstanding! Grits and home fries on the side also delicious. I think they could’ve used a little more help on a Sunday morning after a football game. But the waitress was great regardless. Should also add that the music they played was lovely.

Went for dinner with a couple friends and made it in time for happy hour. Our server was friendly and very helpful. She gave us suggestions on what drinks and food to order based on popularity and her preference. I ended up getting the spicy fiesta wrap with sidewinder fries. Definitely something to try here. It was delicious. The fries were a good complement to the wrap. Ask for some honey mustard on the side because both the fries and wrap tasted good with it.

So much space! I had great service when drinking a couple of beers early in the evening outside. The crowd is generally affable. Great prices and selection.

I moved to charlottesville in feb and was really excited to visit Biltmore bc it looks very inviting from the outside with its lit up outdoor area. Finally I went with a couple of friends who were visiting and we had a great server and a great time… until our check came at the end of the evening. We had ordered the well specials and when our checks came we were charged for doubles bc they«assumed» that is what we wanted. The waitress was very friendly when we explained to her that we had intended to order standard drinks but the mgr that came to us was completely unprofessional and frankly uncomfortable. He gave us an attitude and after we told him we didn’t want new drinks and we just wanted clarification on the prices of the drinks we had already ordered, he took away the drinks that we had been drinking from and replaced them with new, smaller drinks explaining that we had paid for singles so singles are what we will get. We told him we did not want replacement drinks but he took them away and then was very rude about what we were charged for. Later, he continuously approached us about the situation and would not just let it be. It really made us end the night on a bad note. Overall this place has a really cool exterior and I may even want to go back to sit outside, but because it is also a huge college bar, I may wait until the off season… and hope that I don’t see that same manager.

Found this place while wandering on a chilly night. It was cozy and welcoming — friendly, attentive service. Loved the crusties and cheese sticks. Reasonably priced. Not an extensive menu but should be Somehing for everyone.

A classic college bar with reasonable beer prices and plenty of outdoor seating. If you’re going to go out in downtown Charlottesville, you may as well stop by Biltmore, if not just to see the bros out in all their collared-shirt-boat-shoe glory. But seriously a moment — I was there early(10PM) after getting suckered into a beer pong tournament(too old to care so we lost mercifully quickly), and it was easily 85% male. Ladies you will have your pick — guys, maybe you should try Trinity? Light bro-humor aside, I have to admit this was a neat old college bar, with two floors and generous outdoor seating that must be packed late night when the weather is nice. This is really your classic college bar — a little run down, lots of cheap beer specials(for example, $ 3 for a tall can on Budlight), and a N64 set up upstairs with Mario Kart. If I was a couple years younger I’d really be digging this place. Now, I’m just too aware of the undergrads and the sticky surfaces. This place is probably four to five stars if you’re between the ages of 21 – 25. Any older and you’ll probably want to go somewhere else.

Love coming here for drinks! Outside bar is actually great year round because they set up heaters. The bartenders are very friendly! Always hit up this place when I come to town!

Over the weekend, I visited my friend at UVA Law and this seems like the place to go if you’re in the law school, but even if I wasn’t, I would still frequent this bar for sure. They have great drink specials($ 2 Pacifico’s + $ 3PBR16oz cans just to name a few) and have an area for two separate games of cornhole, which is always a win. Good spot to relax outside, play some cornhole, and drink cheap beer. Always a win.

I went to the Biltmore on an off-night during the summer, so I didn’t get to see it packed to the gills, but the people I was with assured me that the place really gets poppin’ during the school year. I could definitely see what they’re talking about– the Biltmore is a typical college dive bar with a giant outdoor patio/cornhole area that tries to look like a beach bar. Small tap list and the house specialty is «thumbs and toes,» which are of course wings. That being said, the food and drink specials are killer– every day of the week.

One of my friends drunkenly said«I am good at what I am good at.» While this may not be the most intelligent thing one of my friends(or my parrot) has ever said, it kind of made sense to me for a place like this. The corner has a lot of restaurants/bars that, in my opinion, are just OK at what they are known for. A few examples, Boylan’s burgers are sub-par, Trinity’s dance floor is pretty disgusting, Three’s cocktail’s are overpriced for their quality/location etc. Biltmore is good at two things and they are really good at them. 1. Being an outdoor bar. Biltmore is now the only restaurant with an outdoor bar(RIP Backyard) and has always had the best outdoor space on the corner. On a beautiful Virginia night this is where you want to be. It has an amazing amount of tables, standing room, and corn hole. 2. It is a «Specials» bar. Biltmore has an array of amazing specials. Whether it is $ 6 for any sandwich or salad on the menu or $ 3 pitchers, every night has terrific food and drink specials. The real difference I have noticed between here and other restaurants is how fast the bartenders are. They don’t care if you are paying $ 1 for a drink or $ 10 they going to make your drinks extremely quickly. So if you are looking for a classic college bar especially on a clear night, this is where you want to be on the corner.

One of my favorite spots to go. The food is pretty good but more than that the service is great even when it is super busy. The bartenders are amazing. The specials are great, some of the best in town and there is an outdoor bar and tons of outdoor seating. I can’t sing the praises of this place enough. Always a great place to go where townies and UVA meet in a way that is more than acceptable

This place seems to be the hub of nightlife at UVA, from what I can tell. I hear the place is even better when the weather is nice, as the inside is a little cramped. It’s definitely a very casual, college bar type atmosphere, which is a refreshing change from my usual haunts in Philly. But seriously, $ 3 pitcher specials and $ 1 well drinks? Yes, please.

Pretty much a law school institution. If you’re a wayward undergrad who’s suddenly found himself cut off from the pack and stumbling down dark Elliewood Avenue, follow the thwack-thwack sounds of a robust game of cornhole. As soon as you walk up, there’s a set of stairs leading to two levels of bar space on your left, and on your right is this initially glorious, then-gets-old-pretty-quick outdoor area with its own bar. So I’ve gotten drunk here. I’ve cried here at an end of the year post-finals bash. I’ve tried to dance here. I’ve witnessed many a hormonal make-out full-use-of-tongue session here. I’ve made some good friends here. But I have never eaten here, in part because I’ve seen the multitude of horrors taking place near the outdoors bar area, though great things have been said about Biltmore’s thumbs & toes bucket. Came here for a firm reception. The food spread was so much better than Sky Bar’s display of tiny crab cakes and mini quesidillas(I think I ate five of those before I started getting weird looks). This place had nachos, seasoned fries, chicken tenders, Caesar salad, and a crudite plate. Much, much better. Maybe I’ll voluntarily order something off the menu next time.

There are many options for eating and drinking in Charlottesville, and this is not one I’d need to return to. There was nothing terrible about it, but there was nothing great about it either. Went here to end our Rare Books School class. We were seated upstairs, which has long tables — decent enough for a large group. The place had that«dive» feel to it, which I guess is good in a college town, but I’m a few years out of college, so it just felt icky to me. :) I had the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout on tap, which was a bit disappointing, and a plain chicken sandwich, which was plain and chickeny. Snooze.

I’ve been here twice before, but the 1st time was with a large group so we got platters of food & I didn’t actually order anything from the menu, so I thought I’d wait to try the food before I write a review. The one thing I LOVE about this place is the«wings” – or thumbs & toes as they call it. Really good for sharing & it’s guaranteed to be gone within seconds. For 5 people, we got a 1-lb order, but probably could’ve eaten more! Two people in our group got fish & chips – apparently the mac & cheese and broccoli were good side choices. The general consensus was that the sweet potato fries were not as good as ones at Boylan, bummer. Another friend and I ordered burgers & they pretty much just tasted the same as ones from West Range Café at UVa, another bummer. BUT, the meal ended with a bang – we decided to get the chocolate chip cookie pie with ice cream. Needless to say, we demolished it within minutes. It was perfectly warm and half-baked(but could’ve used a larger scoop of ice cream). DEFINITELYGETIT. In conclusion, I think the Biltmore is a great place to get drinks, chill & eat wings, but if you’re looking for a satisfying meal that will knock your socks off, this really isn’t the place for it.

$ 1/$ 2(1 shot/2 shots) drinks for«Survivor Hour» on Thursdays. Drinks are made from cheap alcohol, but what can you expect for just $ 1? Can be a hit-or-miss especially with the Shirley Temples(sometimes it tastes like pink sugar water or overly strong with vodka). I usually go with the pineapple/vodka or a screwdriver. Can definitely get crowded on Thursdays. Popular bar in college town. Very laid– back. 21+. Need passport as I.D. for international visitors.
