IHOP

I travel for work and have eaten at IHOPS across the country due to late nights and early mornings. I can’t say this was the worst IHOP I’ve been too because the dining room was clean and the food was good. However, when we got there a guy walked by and asked if we needed to be seated. We were standing at the hostess stand and told him yes and he kept walking and never came back. We didn’t see anyone else for 5 minutes. We almost sat ourselves. There were only 5 small tables there the whole time we were there. I decided on all you can eat pancakes over and omelette because I wanted a lot of pancakes lol. When they came I immediately put in another order of them because it took forever for the first ones to come. 30 minutes later there were still no pancakes. At first I didn’t think the waitress was at fault because she kept coming back and saying she didn’t know why it was taking so long but the more I think about it she could’ve went back to the kitchen and asked. After only eating two small pancakes on the so called all you can eat option I couldn’t spend much more time sitting in IHOP. We had also asked for the check and that didn’t come so we got up and stood by cash register. We asked for manager who said the ticket didn’t print in the kitchen for the reorder which baffles me because the waitress kept coming back and saying she didn’t know why it was taking so long. After a small debate over the ordeal the meal was free. I still tipped waitress $ 10 which would’ve been around 50%. Now I’m wondering if she could’ve done more. After reading some of the other reviews and one personal experience here I’ll never eat here again. Should I expect IHOP to be an IHOP and not be that great? Is it you get what you pay for situation? After all I wasn’t expecting 5 star. 1 or 2 would’ve been cool. Lol

We’ve been to many different I hops in different states… it is never consistent. Unfortunately this one is in out no good bucket list service was great but food was meh

–The restroom is SOOOOO DIRTY! I can’t explain how dirty filthy stinking it was. There were blood, used toilet paper all over the floor. Absolute nightmare. I lost my appetite & felt like throwing up.
–At the counter, we told them about the restroom. She didn’t really seem to care & acted kinda rude.
–The guy who served us was nice. We tipped him well.
–Soup was cold & had a strange bitter taste.

Let me start by saying I love IHOP and my visit to this restaurant was beyond disappointing on SO many levels. This is about to be a lengthy review but bottom line up front: In addition to the poor food quality and rude, substandard service, MY FRIEND FOUND A HAIR IN HER FOOD.
My best friend and I came to eat here last Saturday morning. As I was browsing the menu I noticed their «fit» breakfast came with «Blueberry Harvest Nut & Grain» pancakes. Since I wanted only pancakes and didn’t see them as an option anywhere else, I asked the server if I could get them by themselves without ordering the entire «fit» meal. She wasn’t necessarily rude, but her tone was condescending «Well, if I tell the kitchen to make it that way then you can have it.» I made sure she knew I only expected blueberries mixed in, not the saucy blueberry topping. When she brought our food, at first glance I didn’t notice any blueberries because they were hidden in a tiny pile underneath the butter. I told the waitress this looked nothing like the menu had described and she snapped back, «Well because you didn’t order it that way so of course it’s not going to look like the picture!» She’s right; I didn’t order a big saucy mess. However, I was expecting blueberry pancakes made by the INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF PANCAKES to be more than ordinary pancakes with a tablespoon of blueberries under the butter. I was still very pleasant and replied, «Well, that’s not what I was talking about, but it’s fine.» My best friend was super offended that the server blamed me for my pancakes looking like a half-​assed attempt by the kitchen. As I attempted to spread the butter across the top of my pancakes, they literally crumbled leaving me a pile of pancake crumbs. They crumbs tasted fine, I just had to eat them with my spoon. Then as my best friend was digging into her eggs, she found a HAIR! (gross) She called over our server who was apologetic and asked if she wanted them to remake her plate; my friend declined and asked for it to be taken off our check. It took quite awhile for us to get our check. When it finally arrived her meal was removed but they still charged her for the coffee and the manager never came to our table to address the issue. The manager ended up helping us at the register so I asked her what their protocol was for management addressing customers who have had issues with their meal. This woman literally looked at me with a blank stare like she couldn’t understand what I was talking about. I said, «My friend found hair in her food and I’m asking if you, the manager, normally come to the table to address the concern.» No matter how I worded my statement she kept offering the most insincere responses that focused on the fact that the meal was taken off of the bill. I told her, «I appreciate you taking the meal off the bill, but after your restaurant grossed out my friend so badly she lost her appetite, you see no need to at least apologize or offer to buy her coffee?» I received only more blank stares. Obviously we will not be returning to this location.

My family and I were seated at 9:20 a.m., and put our order in at 9:30 sharp. It was 10:30 before our food finally came out. I ordered steak tips and eggs with hash browns and pancakes. I wanted my steak tips medium rare, but they were well done. My dad ordered sausage with biscuits and gravy with hash browns and hold the eggs. He got 2 biscuits with gravy and that was it. My moms order was fine but our coffee got cold and had to ask for a refills and more sugar and cream. I told them when I paid the bill that it was the last time. I would not recommend.

Took a while for our breakfast to arrive… Waitress was nice. However, I specifically asked for my waffle to be cooked lite. Guess what??? It was hard as the fork I used to eat it. Won’t be returning. 3 Stars is for the waitress. …

I love iHop. The coffee, the pancakes, the waffles… I’m hungry just thinking about it. Sadly, this one has been overcome by gnats. My wife and I were swarmed by 4 or 5 of them 2 months ago. Another dozen or so were on the wall next to us. We gave it a month and went back to see if that visit was an anomaly, but sadly it was not. Looks like we’ll be driving to Harrisonburg if we want our morning treat.

Signed up for Unilocal just to blast this restaurant. So many things wrong on so many levels. This is the 2^nd bad experience we had and it will be the last.
Here’s how i’d rank the problems:
1) the waiter forgot my daughters food
2) took 20 minutes to just get drinks
3) pretty sure waiter could not spell
4) forgot hashbrowns
5) did not refill drinks
6) table was not wiped down
7) entire staff was lethargic and dirty
Our first bad experience wasnt really the restaurants fault but we had some ghetto lady next to us cussing up a storm with our daughter present complaining about the speed of service. She should of been asked to leave… it was bad.
The place is filthy and should be closed forever.
Didnt want to talk to a manager to hear a bs excuse… we wouldve been treated like royalty at the waffle house compared to this hole. Do yourself a favor and dont eat here.

Service is always so slow but they are atleast friendly. Typical Ihop. food is decent and restaurant is relatively clean. Sigh but the pancakes keep me coming back and putting up with it! lol

Five stars for a great late-​night dining experience! The staff seems to be happy working here. They are enjoying themselves, and the customers can feel the happy, healthy atmosphere. Shout out to Ms. Gail who kept our orange juice filled to the brim and to the hilarious Daniel, who kept us rollin in laughter for the entirety of our visit. The food is IHOP food… If you like IHOP food, you’ll like it here. One thing for sure, it feels like it was fixed with the customers’ satisfaction in mind. Highly recommend the Sirloin Tips and Eggs. YUM … This meal was Daniel’s recommendation and it did not disappoint.

I only gave 1 star because ½ a star wasn’t an option. I arrived right at closing (I know, not the best thing to do especially on Christmas) but I was on a food run for some hungry firefighters that were on duty. I asked if I could place an order for take-​out for the public service guys and was told he was going to ask the manager. As soon as he left I could hear all the servers in the hallway talking loudly about me (super professional). Needless to say, I’ll never be back to this location. I plan on getting in contact with this locations franchise manager just to voice my expierence. If I were him/​her I’d clean house and start over with a new staff.

If there was a zero star button to write a review, this place would be it! 15 minutes before we were even greeted by the waitress. Another 15 minutes before we got our drinks (after asking for them). An HOUR later receiving our meal which was cold! One of us didn’t get our meal until one of us had already finished. We asked for the manager, who was cooking… And then were told 5 times that she would be out after she was done cooking… She NEVER came out, but had the hostess ask if there was anything SHE could do! WHAT?!? If someone is complaining that is what the manager gets paid for! The best part of this «visit» was the looks on all the angry/​disappointed people waiting. NEVER AGAIN! IHOP you have sealed your fate.

This restaurant was infested with flies — we were having to shoo them off our food — drinks & table the entire meal! At one point there were 4 flies on our table and 2 on my husband. The manager was unresponsive — we will never eat at the Charlottesville IHOP again.

NO BISCUITS AND GRAVY!
Why? Why would you do that to me?
They took it off the menu and weren’t able to make it when I asked. Very sad. So hungry.

Super quick service. The omelette was great, but the hash browns could have used a few more minutes. They were very greasy. But overall, good food and friendly staff

I’m a firm believer in trying very hard not to review chain restaurants, because 1) they’re always going to be around, much like cockroaches and sea turtles, so what’s the point in giving a one star review, and 2) I’m pretty sure no one wants to read about the local McDonalds unless a knife fight broke out over the last packet of French fries. But see: Bodos, Raising Cane’s, TGI Friday’s, and Ruby Tuesdays.
Last year post-​journal try out competition (one of the many hellish hazing rituals that law school brings) was the first time I’ve ever been to an IHOP’s. The original founders must have really loved their pancakes, because they wanted a restaurant devoted to the pancake as an art form, in that they hoped to feature more exotic versions of pancakes, like blintzes and crepes. There’s also the four different kinds of maple syrup, but I’m still waiting for the bacon-​flavored one to come out any day now. I I think I’ll stick with the breakfast foods and skip the regular dishes — I had the crispy chicken salad once, and they must have transferred the chicken right from the fryer onto the salad, because I was left with a disarmingly hot salad. The 2×2×2 is a big favorite, especially when it’s only $ 5. Also, yes, it’s dingy and worn around the eyes, but it’s bright and clean for the most part, and the waiters are always very chipper.
Thursdays are UVA student discount days. I’m not sure exactly what the discount entails but pancakes are somehow involved.

Definitely hit or miss at this location service-​wise. If Tony’s there, you’re set and well cared for, if not, you’re in trouble. Reliable IHOP food you expect. They get three stars for satisfying the pancake cravings, but not more because the service is spotty.

The IHOP threshold should not be crossed unless you’re 1) under 25 and don’t know any better, 2) over 60 and don’t know any better or 3) nursing a wicked hangover. I took my mother today who happens to love this place and falls under category #2. I have to admit, I do love the Harvest Grain and Nut pancakes. And our waitress Isobel couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive, but the sunken booth, the dingy lights… IHOP seems to be going the way of Denny’s.

Yayyyy PANCAKES!
Last night during the flood warning, all I could think about was pancakes. Buttermilk, maple syrup, maybe a fried egg or two… perfect thing to cook up in the gloomy weather — wait! I have no syrup! FAIL!
Thankfully hubs was up for driving me literally 5 min down the street so we could have a good ‘breakfast for dinner’ meal. I am personally a big fan of iHop — but he was a little reluctant.
Once inside, I was pleased to see a very open and inviting space. We were greeted with a smile and were seated immediately! Our server’s name was Elvis and he was great — very friendly and expeditious.
Hubs and I both ordered the 2×2×2 — great deal at around $ 5 for two pancakes, two eggs and two meat (bacon, sausage or ham.) Along with that, I ordered their (unlimited!) iced coffee which is also very yummy.
Definitely would return next time the craving hits!
