Lobster roll was great… with fruit was interesting. And no mixed drinks after 12? But then you see all the locals getting served mixed drinks until last call… questionable

Can’t knock the food at this Chatham establishment. Have been a resident on CC for 25 years and this is one of my favorites. Have brought visitors here and always know the food will be good. However…this noon I brought a friend with me to dine for lunch. We both ordered the salad special at a price of $ 15 per. Now, I’m not complaining about that price, but I asked our waiter if we might have a roll to accompany the salad. He brought 4 warm rolls to the table. No problem, right? Wrong. When I perused the bill, he charged me 2.50 for the rolls! Think I’ll have to think twice before going back to the Squire since they really are nickel and diming their customers. At the very least the waiter should have told me there was a charge for bread! My word of caution: don’t order the bread!!!

Four of us had lunch here recently and everyone had an absolutely wonderful meal. I had a roast beef sandwich that was made to perfection. My wife had a pastrami sandwich that was also excellent, but the highlight was the couscous side dish. I even tried to wrestle the recipe out of our waitress. The service was charming, timely and excellent in every category, even with a packed house. The restaurant has a friendly, local feel to it which seems harder to come by on the cape these days as it gets more and more overloaded with pretentious, arrogant twits. I’m looking forward to going back.

Great nightlife atmosphere. Don’t waste daytime hours here though. Oysters were good, clams had shell bits in them because they definitely weren’t cleaned right. The shrimp that came to our table was grey, old, and definitely inedible. Why that was even sent out of the kitchen is beyond me. Everything was overpriced for what you were really getting which was subpar food and a dank atmosphere. Young crowd on Friday and Saturday nights and a DJ. Our server was great. Martinis were delicious.

Crowded and noisy atmosphere. Food is just typical, nothing special. Service is very good though.

Was going back to old time joint, but sometimes it’s not quite as good as you remember it. Started with steamers of course, but they came with way too much sand. I couldn’t get past a few. They were good in taking them back and offering me something else instead, but too bad I couldn’t finish them. Got a half dozen oysters instead which were fantastic! The clam chowder was meh, the lobster bisque was bleh. Too much flour and cream and not much flavor beyond that. The bisque was like eating a spoon of flour in each bite. Got the lobster roll which was also just ok. Who doesn’t grill the bun for a lobster roll? Instead it was too doughy and really took away from the lobster. A bright spot was the fish and chips which were awesome! Light, fresh and great tasting. Should have got that instead. So if you know what you are ordering then you can do ok, but otherwise it’s a toss-up.

Best place on the Cape. I like that you can wear a bathing suit inside(which you can’t do at most places on the Cape.). The staff is very nice and the crowd is friendly. Don’t expect a fancy dinner here. The best thing about the place, it’s a place where you can get a nice drink, talk with strangers, while your wife, girlfrien or family shops.

How come the steamers at squires are $ 17.95 and at Red Nun they are $ 9.95. I’ve had them both and same size and both good and are only 3⁄10th of a mile apart. …getting pricey! I can do a few bucks but 60% more? Ouch… please reconsider. Thank you!

Great Spot, Great Food, Great Drinks. Came up the Cape from NJ for the weekend and always make a point to stop in Chatham, shopping makes the wife happy! It was cold, windy and raining but that didn’t stop us from walking the town and ending up at The Squire. The French Onion Soup was delicious and the egg roll fantastic. The Raw Bar Sampler came out and it was a hit. Great Quality. The place is covered in License Plates from around the country with saw dust on the floors and Packed! There wasn’t a seat to be had at 1pm on a Saturday! Will always be stopping at The Squire for a light lunch while walking the town

This place is an institution. You get exactly what you expect you’ll get, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Food in the tavern is standard pub food. Great place to grab a bite and drink year-round. Restaurant is OK if you can’t get into almost any of the other restaurants in the area, but it’s a bit expensive for the quality(tourism driven prices).

We had a late evening meal here after driving for most of the day. My fried oysters were good and he enjoyed his hamburger. This is more of a bar than a restaurant and they offer a good selection of draft beers and a lively atmosphere. Good spot to go for bar type food/drink and camaraderie.

3.5 stars. This is a must-stop every time we come to Chatham. It’s a divey bar restaurant with lots of local but average/non-controversial beers that I wish included more specialty craft beers(they’ve got Cape Cod brewing, Harpoon, Naragannset, Sam Adams). Why I love this place? The seafood! Fresh, succulent, very reasonably priced raw oysters, great chowder and lobster bisque. We had fish and chips today as well. The fish was flakey, mild and delicious but I wish it was a crunchier beer-batter coating. I also had a garden salad which was fresh and great for a bar-type restaurant. Very friendly and efficient service at the bar. Perfect spot for watching the game while enjoying oysters and chowder and some fresh but non-groundbreaking beers.

Great food – Excellent Service by Caleb who adapted our menu choice and was FAST even though the place was PACKED!!! Had the lobster roll on a garden salad and the lobster bisque. Both Excellent. Only reason no 5 stars is the noise level. A bit noisy, but we were sitting in the middle of a sold out restaurant. So understandable!

Okay, if you want a drink, great place! If you want some food, be picky. On the positive, they have great and fresh steamers and mussels. They have great and quick service and a fun atmosphere. On the down side, the menu hasn’t changed in 20 years and the menu is totally dated. Depending on the night, you can get a great meal or a real bummer. The Squire is very expensive for what you get in terms of food. Don’t waste your time waiting forever in the summer for a table. Go somewhere else. In the off season, it is worth a look and stick to the basics. You won’t go wrong. As a bar it gets 4 stars! It is also a great place for kids. As an adult, in the summer, go for lunch but skip dinner on a weekend.

We stopped into Chatham Squire after crawling up and down the Main St. of Chatham going in and out of stores and bars. This place is a little more ‘local’ than a lot of the place on this strip, and you’ll find quite a few people in here that don’t appear as touristy. One half is a bar, and the other half is a restaurant with two other bars in it. They have different menus I believe, so if you’re looking to get the full service, you should stop over to the restaurant side. Our server here was super nice and really on top of everything when it came to refills and recommendations. I ended up ordering a rack of ribs, since my eyes are immediately drawn to them wherever I go. The ribs were super tender and delicious, and I’d easily order these again. They give you plenty, and I split them, along with the lobster bisque, with the girlfriend. The lobster bisque was tasty, but the ribs were the winner here. My family all seemed to enjoy their meals here, and the portions sizes are huge. My mom had the prime rib, and there was no way she was even finishing half of that, and it was cooked perfectly with lots of delicious au jus. I’d highly recommend this place not only for the food, but I hear the nightlife is pretty fun as well. If you’re looking for some place to get drinks and let loose for a night in Chatham, this seems to be the place to be.

This is a great Chatham bar/restaurant and a classic Cape Cod spot. One side is a typical seaside restaurant and the other side is a classic bar. There is good food in the restaurant — albeit Chatham expensive — and a great beer and drink selection in the good sized bar. It is also right on Main Street in downtown Chatham.

This place is bumpin’ all of the time, for real. We sat down on a busy Saturday night, where the waitress informed us that we HAD to order an entrée. Apparently, people who can’t find room in the bar area sit down and order a basket of fries and then just drinks all night. I guess they don’t like that too much. I had the ribs, a generous portion, probably worth the $ 24. They were amazing, fall-off-the-bone, great BBQ sauce, fries were good too. At night however, beware. It turns into a scantily-clad, bouncer-heavy watering hole. The line to get in goes down the street. If you’re not into twenty-somethings getting hammered, get out by 930⁄10.

I am a huge fan of the Squire however my last visit I was very disappointed. My family has a Cape house and we have been coming down forever. The last visit to the Squire was to the bar side to continue the celebration of my cousins wedding, which was the night before. Jen the bartender at the back bar was rude and disrespectful to our whole party. She was not friendly and acted disgruntled every time we asked her a question or tried to order. I told her I worked in the service industry and I would never treat a customer this way, to that she laughed and made snide comments. I wouldn’t normally post something like this but I felt that I couldn’t not. I am disappointed in the Squire for having staff that are so poorly mannered working for what I believed was a friendly, fun establishment. I’m definitely going to think twice before coming to the Squire again.

When I think of Chatham I instantly think of the Squire. Not the fancy place in this posh cape town, but certainly and influential and popular one. A trip to the Cape isn’t the same without a visit. Family tradition dictates that a beer or two needs to be consumed here on Christmas Eve. With the tourists gone by that time, the true atmosphere shines. Went here for lunch over the 4th of July Holiday weekend. Opened at 11:30 and the place was already starting to get crowded. The wife always gets the Lobster OD(lobster salad roll with a bowl of lobster bisque). I always like to see what their daily special offers. Been pleased and surprised with such previous options as filet of sole sandwich to what I ordered this time, steamed seafood ceviche over a salad. They also offer a decently priced raw bar and several smoked fish platters.
