Unfortunately we do not have many live music options in chattanooga. Track 29 gets some really great shows, but the facility isn’t the greatest. The building is a gigantic standing room only with a stage on one end. If you are short, get there early or stand in back to see. The acoustics really depend on each show individually. I have been fortunate to have good sound for every show I have attended here. The bars leave room for improvement. They do have a few craft beers on tap with decent prices, but the canned beer selection is pretty skimpy. Lastly, They definitely do not have enough women’s restrooms. The line is always long!

Seating is under rated — there is none. Even with a medical condition we could not be accomidated to find a place to sit. I hope they fix this with the new place. As a non smoker I do not appreciate every one smoking in line — within five feet of the front door to be exact. They also serve no food or snacks. This place was great when they first came to town, now it just seems like they don’t even try anymore.

We drove up to Track 29 from Atlanta to see Modest Mouse put on a show here. The venue is at the very back of the Chattanooga Choo Choo. The space is a pretty large wide-open area with the stage front and center of the venue. There were a few bars(two, I think) scattered along the walls. People were complaining about the crazy wait times to get alcoholic beverages so be warned if it’s a sold out show. The sound here is decent, not spectacular. There were several times when both the opener and Modest Mouse had feedback issues during speaking segments and in the middle of songs. Parking is offered on-site for $ 6. There was a lot of parking, but I’m not sure that it would be enough to accommodate everyone if there was a large crowd. Overall, a decent place to check out a show.

So I missed Jupiter Coyote some months back for what I’d expected to be my first visit to the very popular(I’d been told) Track29. Forget a standard concert: my first time was for the absolute best work holiday party — ever. I’d been forewarned that the Monens know how to throw down and to expect all manner of fun and plenty of shenanigans at the bash Monday night. Oh, boy — everyone was beyond right! I’ll leave details of the party to just a couple of highlights– That 90s Show took me back to, well, the 90s(when unlike many of the other servers etc I work with, I was old enough to hear all this when it was new…); seeing all the bosses let their hair down, and a couple their skirts up on stage, as I learned what a bunch of restaurant people consider A Talent Show; seeing how everyone dresses when not wearing snazzy Clyde’s/CP/Urban/TM/M&H attire, and how everyone behaves when Champy’s caters and all manner of adult beverages are up for grabs(many, many grabs) — oh, and who the closet smokers are. I’m guessing most of that is similar to what you’d find at a good Track29 show. Maybe without the fried chicken. Track29 is a great place to have a party; and since I did get to see a band, I can only imagine that it’s a pretty good place to see a full concert. I like the open space and how the stage is at the very front with plenty of dancing/listening/whatever room in the back near the entrance. Good set up with two separate«bar» areas — to right of entrance and then against back wall, so whatever is going on there, there’s enough room and design to cover all the bases from drinks to merchandise. Enough bathrooms, and clean, too(very impressive). Big plus– the amount of parking available(thanks, Choo Choo property for extending so far back to have this as part of the Track29 package); even if you are paying to park when you go to a show — there’s still a lot and that cannot be said of a lot of places you might go downtown. Or take a cab to and from — they all know how to find the place! One of my NY resolutions will be to return to Track29 the first time a good concert comes up(or someone else throws a big bash and invites me). Definitely one of my fave spots in Chattanooga now!

This place is not rock and roll!!! The demeanor of the place is far too down set, the bouncer angry lookin, the security far too intense. I get it’s a bigger venue but I went to a Blues Traveler show where it’s all about the dancing and fun. I think a bouncer posted up behind me due to my size and essentially pushed me in the back violently until I had had enough. I shouldn’t have to be pushed in the back by the staff while I am trying to enjoy myself. I asked him over and over to stop and finally I ja had enough so I turned around and decked him where they promptly through me out. If you want to see a band with the atmosphere of being at angry grandpas house, where fun and dancing is discouraged, then track 29 is your place.

Finally! Chattanooga has a music hall that actually wants to book great music and share it with you. Track29 is an awesome space converted into a venue for your musical entertainment. Acts range from country to hip-hop and everything in between. For me, the best show they’ve had has been The Flaming Lips. Lighting and sound were fab! They don’t have a full bar, but they do have beer which is fine by me. Staff have always been really great and you can tell they have a fun time doing what they do. I may just be the only person who’s never had a challenge with the parking. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you have to pay. Either way, be prepared. I’ve always felt that the trek to your destination in anticipation of a good show always gets the blood pumping. Which gives me a case of the giddy’s! Thank you, T29 for caring about my musical experiences.

After all the crap people said when they rescheduled the Umphrey’s McGhee show due to weather, I was really surprised at what a great venue Track 29 really is. The staff are patient and courteous. I witness two or three of them check on a girl who was making a downward spiral. By the time the first guy circled back around she was not ok, and you could tell he was genuinely concerned. It was a little tricky to park and find it considering I’m not from Chattanooga and I rarely pay to park in a garage. I enjoyed the venue, the sound was pretty good, and they kept all of the smokers out back. Great place to see a show!

It’s extremely hard to find if you’re just finding it by address. It’s in the very back of Chattanooga Choo Choo. Parking is $ 6 if you want to park by the venue and $ 3 if you park right by the entrance(.5 mile walk). There’s a good bit of parking but there’s definitely not enough for everyone who attends a show here. Inside is like a high school gym you don’t want to revisit, but you do anyways. It’s not a giant venue — but some bigger names play here so that’s always a plus. Overall it’s a good venue, I just wouldn’t hurry my way back for a show.

Thumbs way up on almost everything about Track 29 including location, staff, sound, prices, and ability to attract great bands! Only negative was the insane heat! Ventilation such as windows would be a huge plus.

I’m glad we finally have a venue that can bring in nationally touring acts that is relatively close to where I live in North Georgia. Usually folks bypassed Chattanooga for Atlanta, Knoxville & Nashville, but now we get lucky enough to get some great national acts. I have seen Robert Earl Keen, Leftover Salmon, Here Come the Mummies, & Warren Haynes. And while I don’t dig the following artists it is a testament to the hard work of the folks running Track 29 that the Avett Brothers, Jack White and Bass Nectar have played the venue. I’ve seen complaints about the fact that it used to be a roller rink and that it is flat and maybe doesn’t have the best acoustics, but I used to live in Atlanta where any venue that brought in national acts charged 7 to 10 dollars for a beer(5 bucks for a craft beer at track 29) and also charged 5 – 15 dollars for parking(2 – 3 bucks at track 29). You also had to deal with Atlanta traffic and while most pan handler were usually affable sometimes you had to deal with an aggressive street person. Also throw in the cheapest accommodations in Atlanta are at least 150.00 bucks! Track 29 is walking distance to a cheap hostel, several solid restaurants and isn’t far from the free Carta shuttle line. A cab ride after the show to most local hotels is going to run you less than 20 bucks. So I will be more forgiving of this place. Here is hoping they continue to draw good music. Oh, and they periodically have local talent show cases which is a benefit as well.

This place is a former ice skating facility. Building is about 40 years old and looks it. It is a good size to bring in bands that might not be a big enough draw for the larger facilities in town. But the place itself is depressing to me. It is like watching a concert in a high school gym. I also do not think that visitors to the Chattanooga Choo Choo should have to do battle with the traffic created by Track 29.

Great to have a venue bringing in quality bands. LOVE their food truck presence during shows! Smoking is outside. Friendly staff. Overall great addition to the music scene. Keep up the good work!
