Been here too many times and it never gets better… Heres whats wrong with Ruby Buffet. The hostess’es? No matter what day you go there look right through you and say how many, not hello, not nice to see you again, just money eyes. The man in charge of carving? Again no matter what day you go, never looks for customers waiting, has a hate face on all the time and will never speak a word on purpose. He hates his job he hates you! The food is typical but not in-expensive.With so many employess hating me the paying customer for no reason I cant imagine the crap they put in the food. Not going back. There are fine Chinese restaurants for the same price and way better food with employees who wish to be part of America.

Our server was very kind and asked us for refills at least three times. Always get some type of soda or juice when at a buffet because most places give you tap water when you ask for water. The food was mediocre. Nothing too fancy but for a buffet that’s a reasonable price that’s something I expected. The salmon on the sushi was not good quality and the soy sauce looked seriously watered down. The sushi itself was good, but not fantastic, also something I expected for the price. I recommend waiting for the chef as he freshly rolls them. They have a nice amount of food. not too overwhelming like some other buffets. Also, they have alot of booths and seating areas which I find beneficial.

I was there on Friday December 18, 2015, and their staff were friendly, the food was great, and their prices were very reasonable. Keep up the good work. Have a Merry Christmas, and have a Happy new Year for 2016 !!!

Totally didn’t expect much out of a Chinese buffet in a strip mall but this place was pretty good! Tons of interesting seafood, sushi bar, not super greasy entrees and very clean!

This is the best Chinese buffet in the immediate area. No hibachi grill but this place is usually crowded which equates to high turnover of the food.

My ultimate favorite Buffet! Have everything you would want to eat & more importantly everything is fresh & tastes GREAT! The décor is very classy & the help is extremely nice! They serve everything from; Chinese food, Japanese, Pizza, French fries, Seafood, Sushi, have a Dessert bar, and more! If you don’t feel like eating in and stuffing yourself, feel free to get take out so you can stuff yourself at home!!! Good Food & Great Prices! Can’t go wrong! If you are looking for a very clean environment, with GREAT food, extremely friendly help, and cheap, this is the place! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!!!

A solid buffet albeit a bit small when compared to other buffets in the area. Everything was pretty good. Highlights: pan fried dumplings, hot and sour soup, chinese bbq ribs. Sushi was standard fare. A pretty good fruit and salad bar.

3.5 stars Why does having a 3 star rating seem so low!!! But a 4 seem so high? I’ll hook them up with a 4 star rounding up! I’ve been here twice(not my choice, but my family loves buffets for some reason). I’m actually afraid of eating at these types of buffets. The only buffets i’ve felt comfortable eating at are Vegas ones. My first time was a weekday. The place wasn’t too busy and the food was all pretty full, hot, and not too salty(as most are). The place was fairly clean, the interior was decent. Service was sufficient, but i’m not sure why other reviewers would complain? Are you expecting to be waited on? The second time was a Sunday. Man, the place was crazy packed! All types of hungry ass people in here, including me and my family. The food, for the most part, was all pretty decent/average. I’m on a low carb diet so i just ate mostly meat. Yes, this isn’t the best of the best, but it’s a dinner buffet(cheap one too), so i base my experience on what the establishment is, not what i want/wish it to be. Gotta go in these places with realistic expectations! I tend to go for things that just get replenished and not been sitting too long. Their crab legs were actually pretty good quality and not even salty. I know some places salt it so they don’t overeat it! Lots of people were lining up for that. So be patient. Overall, i thought the hot food, fruits, and seafood were all pretty decent. I don’t go often, so i thought it was $ 19 for dinner, but it was actually $ 12 i think. definitely got my money’s worth i guess? Finished with some softserve ice cream and called it a night. The drive home i was hoping not to have an upset stomach later in the night but that didn’t happen. So i call it a win win! PS. i know it’s an AYCE, but i hate wasting food… hence, i only take just enough to either taste or finish. I seen other tables finish and leave PLATESOFSHRIMP and CHICKEN. Maybe because i’m Asian and was taught not to waste food(or eat everything), but what the heck… if you knew you couldn’t eat more than 8 shrimp… why get a whole plate? Its AYCE… not like they give you a time limit.

I’m torn. I mean, I love cheap eats, especially when it’s AYCE, and Ruby Buffet has all the standard cheap fare that you would expect at any Chinese buffet — Fried rice, Fried egg rolls, Fried chicken French fries, Fried doughnuts with sugar… you get the point. The couple of bonuses you get are the crawfish(definitely a grab bag) and the snow crab legs. Unfortunately, the huge downside is that everybody has to wait in line in order to get a few clusters of crab legs because they stagger the distribution so that they don’t go bankrupt since they would never be able to keep up with the demand anyways. This serves as a minor annoyance especially when you have people who have been waiting patiently in line subsequently take a gigantic plateful and you sigh as you stare into a murky bin of salt water devoid of actual crab. Oh well, 10 more minutes and it’ll be your turn so just wait and snack on some french fries while you wait in line. The staff is super efficient, but not the friendliest. It’s all right though, you came here to eat, not chit-chat. Get water and satisfy that thirst and wash down that crab with some crisp slices of watermelon. Go early to try to avoid the crowds.

Came here for lunch, which normally costs $ 7.99 but we had a -$ 2 coupon so it cost us $ 5.99/person. For that price ruby buffet is absolutely worth it, but even at $ 7.99 it’s not a bad deal. Unfortunately I do not favor eating this type of food all the time — mostly oily and high carb content food. Their food includes: a sushi section that isn’t too bad for the price, but very very subpar at any respectable sushi serving restaurant; a large chinese food section that includes chicken and broccoli, pepper steak, ruby chicken, pork chop, spinach, string beans, fried rice, stir fried noodles, clams, bbq pork, dumplings, etc; a deep fried section, a soup section, a cold foods station(shrimp, salads), and a dessert station. The dessert station consists of several fruit options(watermelon, cantalope, pineapple) and several premade pastries that I would seriously avoid. Overall provides a decent selection, albeit mostly of low quality meats, seafood, and vegetables. But when the price is $ 7.99/person, it’s somewhat difficult to complain about the quality. If you come here just come here expecting to pig out, don’t come expecting for a luxury meal. That’s what they are marketing, and that’s what they deliver, plain and simple.

My favorite choices are fresh oyster and clams, oysters are small, but clams are very good. As tourist, it’s a nice choice for quick dinner.

I went here as part of a professional meeting. I wasn’t too impressed. Let’s just say I’ve gone to worse buffets before. It is reasonably priced and they seem to have the right idea for selection, they just don’t do a good job replenishing the buffet. The clams and oysters on a half shell look as though they may have been there for several hours. Regarding the crab legs, it’s hard to find. Once they’re brought out, they disappear quickly and don’t get refilled often. As far as buffets go, there are some better and some worse. This one falls right into the middle.

The Ruby Buffet is a good value for the price. The buffet food is good-I never had a problem with their cleanliness or temperature of the food. The sushi is also good with a decent variety of items to choose from.

I reviewed the Ruby Buffet on Columbus avenue in Philly a few years ago. The location is even better. Think crab legs, stone crabs, salt and pepper shrimp, prime rib, and a wide selection of fruits. My most recent visit they had mangoes, blood oranges, kiwis, cantaloupe, and ripe black cherries. The prime rib is equal to or better than any diner prime rib in the area. I would gladly pay $ 20.00 for that and two side vegetables. All these people calling the place ghetto, or casting aspersions about the crowd surprises me. If you want elite, go to an upscale restaurant and spend $ 80.00 per without drinks. On the other hand, these same naysayers probably cant afford it. So sad. Call it like it is and give this fine restaurant the credit it deserves, offering common folk endless seafood and a fine prime rib for $ 13.00 plus tax. Incredible.

If I could give the restaurant zero stars, I would. Not so much for the food, this review is strictly for the way they run their business. My family was looking for a place to host a dinner for a special event. We went to the restaurant and spoke to Renee about making the reservation. When we were booking, she said a deposit was not necessary, but we put a deposit down so they feel better about our reservation. We were told that if we need to cancel the reservation, deposit would be refunded. A week later, we did decide to cancel the reservation. When we return with the original receipt for the deposit back, the girl standing at the front who claimed she is the«manager» said she can only refund the deposit in the form of a gift certificate, which was not mentioned at all during the reservation. When I refused the gift certificate and requested for the original form of payment back, she said it was«store policy» to refund in gift certificate, which was again was definitely NOT what thy said originally. When I asked for the owner of the restaurant, he was conveniently not available. The«store policy» was not stated anywhere in the restaurant, on the receipt, or anywhere on their brochure. They seemed very accommodating when you first make a reservation, but as soon as they have your money, they will make up any lies on the spot to keep your money. This is not a place I would ever give my business to. Again, I don’t know how the food is, and even if it is good, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all to anyone.

Very dishonest management!!! If there is zero I would give it!!! Lie about deposit money back! Don’t give any deposit if booking for party, cause you won’t get it back and they will force you to come back and use the deposit money. Which it will be waste it away due to poor management!!! y As for the food, not a lot of choices. The food is salty and not fresh at all. I got sick after I eating there!!! Never go back again. Worst Chinese buffet evert!!!

Another buffet, another diarrhea session. I think you can see from all of my other reviews in regards to buffets there’s a pattern of some sort right? I go to buffets out of familial obligation or because maybe for some crazy reason I wanted to get diarrhea that night. Most likely it’s the former. You got your usual over greased, super salty, chewy meat, etc selections that you get at every single buffets in this rung. Service is whatever. Parking: Plenty Price: $ 15 per person + drinks Wait: None

I thought it was time for an update. I have been to all the«new» area buffets and each and every time I am left saying«its no ruby!» I stand by this place 100% I do agree some customers are rude about crab leg etiquette, that isnt really their fault. They refill them as they disappear. It only takes a few customers to ruin it for all of us. But many buffets no longer even serve hot crab legs! Recently had an issue and they solved it right away. Sushi is still fantastic, love the staff and seriously grab some soft serve with that peanut butter topping. so many of these places are folding. There is a reason ruby has not. It is a value buffet. Not a 5 star restaurant. But I assure you, in this case you get MORE than what you pay for.

I was here recently and I was very disappointed. I had seen it advertised in a couple places and I looked at their website. From the looks of the website it was better than the run on the mill Chinese buffet. Better selection, better food just better over all. But it was not. I went for lunch on a weekday so it was not that busy and we got a seat right away. When I went up to the buffet, the selection was not what I expected. It was run of the mill buffet offerings if not worse than most. There was some seafood dishes but their quality looked questionable so I did not try many of them. Much of the food was dry and/or flavorless. One that stuck out in my mind was the jello. It was incredibly chewy, which is not something you want out of jello. Will I be returning? Absolutely not
