Well it wasn’t off to a great start. My girlfriend and I made reservations for her birthday at 4:30. We showed up at 4:20. There was another couple coming in behind us and they sat them before us when there was no one else in the restaurant. It seemed a bit unprofessional to me. Other then that everything else was terrific. Our food was superb. Same goes with our servers.

Best food best service. My party of 6 all above 50 agreed they have the best Prime Rib every time we go there by far. Get the table side Caesar salad and banana over ice cream desert. And a Christmas Music singer to boot. Worth every penny.

Very pleasantly surprised. I ended up staying in New Jersey right outside of Philly because I had too long of a drive home from the office. So I reserved a room at the Days Inn nearby without knowing the area and drove from the downtown office. As I was pulling up on the Days Inn along Rte 38 I noticed this little restaurant tucked into a corner of a seemingly seedy hotel. After I checked in, out of desperation I decided to try the place(having recently updated my vaccinations etc. was a factor). When I entered, I was immediately moved by the ambience. Old school, dark and romantic, with Frank Sinatra playing over a soft speaker. Looked around and bro use one server preparing a hand-tossed salad for one couple and another server lighting bananas foster. Wow! I’m seated, get fresh water, warm bread, and a plate of sautéed peppers. So I decided to go all out — bruschetta appetizer and chicken piccata. The bruschetta was very tasty, albeit they used the wrong tomatoes(a little juicy). The chicken piccata was magnifue! Salad with Italian dressing was served as well — not bad, but not important when overshadowed with a great entrée and wine(Parducci Merlot). Wrapped it up with bananas foster(boom!) and washed it down with a nice coffee. This place is a hidden gem. If I lived close enough this would definitely place in my top 3 for date night. I scored it a 4 out of 5 only because the location and exterior makes the uninformed to keep driving. Nonetheless, this place is a quality restaurant and I encourage anyone in the area to give it a whirl.

OMG, awesome. got groupon and when we pulled up I thought uh oh. Not much to look at from the outside, attached to sleezy hotel, but don’t let that scare you away. Service is awesome, live music some nights(piano) great service and great food. They make caesar salad tableside and bananas foster !!! and their is a steak dinner for two done tableside. You will love love

The food I ordered was absolutely terrible. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad, which was comprised of canned beets, arugula, dressing that tasted bottled, and fried goat cheese. Why use canned beets when you can use fresh? I also had the lobster ravioli. For the price, the lobster ravioli was noticeably not homemade. The sauce was horrible, and the ravioli lackluster. It had absolutely no flavor and it was truly a disappointment that they were not made in house. My family ordered some things that were pretty tasty. The escargot, table side caesar salad and table side bananas foster were all very good. The meat looked good as well, but I am not a steak eater so unfortunately my review is based on my meal. Will not be back.

From the outside, it is hard to tell what a fantastic spot this is. Whether it be Happy Hour, dinner, or a private affair, it is a no brainer. We had my Mom’s 80th Birthday Party last eve. The party was fantastic! The staff was overly gracious, and Joe was an outstanding host for our party, We had alternate plans at another restaraunt(Aldo Lambertis), but they were not very gracious or accommodating when trying to plan the party. We checked into Steak 38 and we are so happy that we did. I would absolutely recommend this spot for delicious food made even better by the warm and friendly staff. Thank You Steak 38… see you again real soon.

My son gave us a living social voucher worth 50 bucks that was going to expire soon. the staff were very welcoming and attentive. Our server, Steve was exceptional along with his helper. the bread they gave us to start with was really good. the wife had a salad and i had snapper soup-both very good. the wife(of 37 years) had steak diane, there was none left to take with us so it was excellent; i had broiled seafood combination. it was a big portion and i did not finish but took half home. the deal included banana’s foster prepared table side. it was so good. would go back again if i found another deal!

I stopped in here after reading the reviews on here with my girl friend and was very happy when we arrived. The hostess seated us with charm. Our waiters gave us great service and the food was great. I had the Barnacle Ben Cream of Crab Soup and it was the best I ever had. My girlfriend’s salad was fresh. I had the prime rib, I didn’t even need a knife to cut it. The atmosphere was very romantic and had an old world charm. We dressed up but there was some casual dressed people here too. I will be back and would highly recommend this place.

Great time from the best crap soup to desert, unbeatable service :-) My wife and I went here for the first time and it was a great time. From the hostess who seated us with a smile to the nostalgic charm of the Dean Martin era. Our waiters were very attentive and could not ask for better service. This place is great, the prime rib and filet Mignon was cut with our forks tender. Best I ever had, We will be going back often.

Had fond memories of a great place for dinner from years ago. Back again with four friends — food was wonderful — wait staff friendly and service was excellent. Caeser salad prepared tableside — excellent — –as were all of our entrees. Old fashioned elegance — with owners hands on

So it’s kind of a hidden gem alongside route 38. You can easily overlook the place as its attached to a motel. So looks can be deceiving in this case. We went for a happy hour and they have one hell of a happy hour menu! Great options for great prices. We sat at the bar, which is small yet very nice. Friendly bartender. We started with a glass of wine and a brew; bout 8 $ bucks. From there we checked out the happy hour food specials and started off with scallops wrapped with bacon and grilled shrimp. Small servings but for 5 $ a pop it was delicious. Moved on to try the mussels. Large serving for 6 $ is totally worth it. Another glass of wine and few drinks later we ended it with pork with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe and a cheeseburger and fries. Great size, again very good. Overall this is a great happy hour spot. We will be coming back again. Next time to sit down and dine and give their steaks a try!

My last visit was 25 years ago and I wish I never went back so I could have kept those good memories of Steak Dianne and Bananas Foster intact. Instead I dropped $ 225 on a very mediocre, tasteless dinner. The salad was awful with off tasting lettuce, blue cheese dressing with no discernible blue cheese, and deep fried croutons that tasted of old oil. The seafood sampler was sparse with 2 briny oysters, 2 metallic clams, 2 fairly large shrimp, and a small dollop of crab. The soups were old school and heavy. Cream of Crab and Snapper were just ok and likely came from a frozen soup base. The fillets were way under seasoned. They had no taste. Cooked to proper temperature, but really no sear. The twice baked potato was awful. A glue like substance in an under cooked potato shell. It was nicely browned on top. The Bananas Foster looked really good and the presentation was great. This place reminds me of a restaurant past its prime featured on a Kitchen Nightmare. I could see Chef Ramsey yelling about the quality of the food and imagine they have fallen into bad habits and short cuts. Bottom line is that there are dozens of better places to get a steak at a similar price point.

We have always wanted to stop at this place, after hearing all the rave reviews, so we finally stopped. The nostalgia alone with Frank Sinatra playing in the background and the look and feel of the place told us right away that we were going to love it! Hopefully the place will keep its look as it brought so many memories back of days gone by. This is a great place for a romantic dinner for young and old. Also a great place for a special family dinner. Loved the fact that you could hear the person sitting near you without hearing everyone else! The food was delicious! Our prime rib perfectly cooked, and the Duck ala Orange tasted awesome. One great thing here is that they will mix your salad, or slice your filet mignon right next your table and serve it to you. To end a delicious meal be sure to get the Bananas Foster, also made at your table. The wait staff and owners, who were both at the restaurant were friendly and helpful! We also saw that they have a fantastic early bird special menu which we will def be back to try… We will definitely be back!

We have never had anything but an outstanding meal at Steak 38. Our first visit was some years ago after driving past the place for decades and never stopping in. As with many other posters, we had a Living Social deal so off we went. We knew it was an interesting location, very 1950s being attached to a motel, but never have experienced«Section 8» tenants or multiple police cars. In fact, we have never seen a police car on the property. After that first visit influenced by the discount deal from Living Social, we have been back at least a dozen times. As we were being seated on that first visit, the former owner of Barnacle Ben’s walked up and said«Hello.» We had eaten in his restaurants in Moorestown and Maple Shade for many, many years and he remembered us. It turns out that he is best friends with the Steak 38 owner and when Ben decided to unretire, his friend convinced him to bring his recipes and join in at Steak 38. So Ben’s crab cakes are now at Steak 38. All blue claw crab, little if any filler. We have never had any but a superior seafood meal here. We have never had less than a superior dinner of any kind here. The service has been excellent and no one has ever complained about the cocktails. The prices are no different than other high quality restaurants in the area. The décor is old fashioned but we don’t go there for the décor.

After a recommendation from a friend we decided to try it and glad we did. Very small but certainly not lacking in service and food. We ordered the steak 38 special for 2. Very pleased. Definitely a place we will be visiting again

I do agree with other reviewers when they say the location is mad sketchy. It’s located on one side of a motel. The interior is fun because it does remind me of Godfather. I enjoyed their calamari and sesame crusted tuna. As my entrée, I got the prime rib. It was OK. I’ve defintely had better but I guess for the price it’s resonable. You can get an early bird special if you go at 5:30. The prices are almost half off I believe. They have life music which is always fun. I would not go back though.

A very relaxed atmosphere; laid back, calm, and very sedate — almost like the restaurants and bars of the 60’s &70’s.(Reminds me of some of the great places in the Cherry Hill area that have been long gone.) Just visited for the 1st time in over 20 years and was amazed at the quality of the food, the presentation and the overall professionalism of the staff. Nothing was less or shorted in any way, just an overall great experience. The one major surprise when I was there was that Barnacle Ben was there, and he was the one that was making the crab cakes.(And, if you know this area, then you already know that he always made the best crab cakes in the entire region!) Will I go back: Yes! Worth the price: Yes! Recommended: Yes! BTW: Bananas Foster — The best!(Enough Said!)

I have to say first that I love this place so don’t judge me to harshly after my first comments. My first visit was through a Living Social deal. You have to love these deals. They are usually to places you don’t even know exist and wouldn’t have found if it weren’t for the need to be cheap and get a bargain. Me all the way! Having followed GPS to the restaurant, I was kind of surprised when we drove into the parking lot. This place looked closed. If it hadn’t been for Living Social, I would never have stopped here! My husband, who is so used to me doing strange things, asked if we were really in the right place. I assured him that we were despite the exterior and in we went. This was like stepping right into a Godfather movie. Seriously. Right down to Vic Damone, Frank Sinatra and velvet wallpaper. The wait staff is standing by, serving only on the right, to fulfill your every whim. Wow! The food, specifically steak since I’ve found seems to be the most difficult for tri state restaurants to do right, was outstanding. As was everything else composed in this meal. My advice… guys…you have the food and the service down pat but work on the outside presentation.
