I live in Collingswood, so I’m no stranger to the sushi hype in this area. Why Sagami continues to get higher reviews is beyond me. Perhaps because it’s more«traditional» and the menu is bigger? I consider myself a purveyor of Japanese food. This is the BEST sushi I have ever eaten, EVERY time. It is also the best tempura I have ever had… I’d go as far as to say it’s the best fried food I’ve eaten in my life, and I used to be a fatty, so if nothing else, you want to order that. I have had better hibatchi, I am sorry to say, but hey, you can’t be great at everything. Not that it’s lousy, but it’s not earning them this rating. The other part of the restaurant does. I’m putting this on a separate line because I think it’s worth mentioning. The service is consistently a 10. It is clear they not only realize you butter their bread, but they don’t make you feel like an intrusive foreigner. On top of that, they are at the top of their game, constantly. The décor is nicer than most restaurants. Great ambiance. Perfect for date night. Cons? Pricey without a groupon/coupon. Limited menu. but that’s why I think it excels. But most upscale restaurants aren’t aiming for the all-encompassing Cheesecake Factory style menu, anyway.

Amazing and attentive service from multiple staff members. We didn’t have an empty glass of water or tea. Yay! The food was superb– standard edamame, and avocado salad with delicious ginger dressing, the presentation and quality of the sushi rolls was beautiful. Good was excellent, overall great experience and we will be back.

We came here for Christmas Eve and I must say — everything was outstanding! The service was great and the waitress was quite attentive. We ordered a bunch of sushi, edamame, & a seaweed salad. Everything we ordered was really terrific. My personal favorite was the pink lady roll. I mean pink sushi… So cute and sooooo good!

I went here on a second date with a girl who had never had sushi. We both loved our meals. The location is perfect(I’m not from New Jersey) and overall the experience was fantastic. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the ambiance wasn’t quite what I expected based on the admitedly limited pictures I saw. I was hoping for a more intimate setting but it quickly became a non-issue. Overall, a great spot with good service. Try it.

This place is aMazing. Hibachi and sushi do not disappoint. It’s Byo, and prices are reasonable. Be sure Call for reservations for hibachi on weekends. They have awesome hibachi specials like, pick 3, dinner for two or four and also land and sea for two! However I don’t recommend hibachi lobster anywhere, just gets too tough on the grill in my opinion. Osaka is a must try! I am new to the neighborhood and already been here 3 times!

Normally I would rate this sushi restaurant higher but after experiencing Sagami in the same neighborhood I had to only give it 3 stars because my standard for 5 was just elevated. The sushi her us good don’t get me wrong and the décor inside the restaurant makes it feel very comfortable and the location is much more ideal than Sagami but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Sagami has some of the freshest seafood I have ever tasted in a roll. I still recommend Osaka if you can’t get in to Sagami or want a lunch snack.

While the décor, and overall appearance of Osaka leads you to believe that it would be a pleasurable dining experience, the sushi was some of the worst I have ever tasted. For the record, my girlfriend and I wanted to give it a 2nd chance after a poor first trial. We eat at different sushi bars and restaurants multiple times per month. We ordered a spicy tuna special roll and a shrimp tempura for the other roll. Consistently with the first time we ate there, the rolls were poorly wrapped, forcing us to «get creative» with the chop sticks to be able to even dip it in the soy sauce. The rice appeared to seam quite mushy or wet, if you will. And the shrimp tempura was hardly in normal tempura form. While the display of both dishes was nice, the taste was not so good. We had the tom yum and dumpling soups to start, and they were pretty good… which is why I decided to give it a 2 instead of a 1. Not sure how someone gave this place high marks… I eat sushi quite often, and this was sub par.

My friends and I camehere during early lunch time on a Monday. We were the only ones there. We were of course attended to immediately. The staff was very attentive to us. Our food came out in a timely manner. The hibachi chef was funny, and nice. Everything i ate was delicious. I had sweet potato rolls and the chicken hibachi. The fried rice was SO good.

This is our go-to sushi spot in Collingswood, but that’s honestly because it’s moderately priced, BYOB, and within walking distance, three real pluses for me. We have never had to wait and only have sat in the front when we’ve come-in a booth where my boyfriend can sit facing away from the door towards the one TV above the sushi bar. We usually order the shrimp tempura appetizer and edamame, the spicy sushi roll trio(salmon, tuna, eel) and a few other special rolls-the summer roll last time we went was good, wrapped in cucumber instead of rice. The food is fresh, but nothing about it screams amazing, presentation is average and service is just average, we lose the waitress from time to time. Our bill for a table of two is usually $ 40. They run specials on Living Social at times too!

Quite good. Solid sushi, fresh and well cut, solid basics. Wasabi shumai not as intense as Yokohama(the best) but still very good. Huge interior seems great for large groups, and modern décor is a little over the top but clean at least. Large creative maki menu, easy rear parking and entrance.

I have come here previously when it was under a different name/ownership, and it is still great! My two friends got the hibachi(from the regular table/menu) and I got a few rolls. The food came out quick, but sequentially, and the service was awesome! They were very attentive, but did not come over too much as they saw we were catching up and having a great time. Literally no complaints. Very cool ambiance, and they were super friendly. This is a great place to come for a birthday as they go all out… BYOB is a huge plus as it saves you a ton of money. Food was very good — Very clean — will definitely go back!

Today was my first time going or hearing about this restaurant. And I am so glad I did! The décor is very inviting and romantic. The restaurant is huge, there is a regular«sushi» section in the front and towards the back is hibachi tables. Tonight we choose only sushi so we stayed in the front part of restaurant. As the appetizer my friend and I shared the fried calamari. It was very fresh and crispy. So good! For my entrée I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the lobster roll… Both delicious!!! My friend had the crazy dragon roll… And OMG that was to die for! For dessert we had the exotic bomb, which was 3 different sorbets in one covered in a coating of white chocolate. So delicious! Definitely a must have! The service was great and we did not feel rushed to leave. It is a BYOB so don’t forget your bottle! I am pleasantly pleased and I will definitely go back again!!!

I was a fan of Akira, and I am a fan of Osaka. To start, I had the Tom Yum soup and the green said(served with ginger dressing). This was my first time trying Tom Yum soup, it was good and spicy, but I think I’ll be going back to my usual miso soup. The green salad was as expected and delicious, I love that ginger dressing. I tasted a variety of sushi. The Sushi Deluxe dinner is very good, filled with fresh cuts of the fish you’d expect(I do wish there was some egg sushi included in this though). One small thing that I liked was that the wasabi was piped onto the plate similar to the way frosting would be on a cake. It gave the wasabi an airy quality that I enjoyed. I also tried the Cris roll(spicy tuna with avocado, salmon, and tuna on top) and the Snow Mountain roll(shrimp tempura with pineapple marinaded crab). Both of these special rolls were great, and I would get them again. Back at Akira, I used to love the Splash roll, at Osaka, I think the closest thing would be the Diga roll(spicy, crunchy tuna, topped with peppered tuna and special sauce), next time I’ll be trying this. The Nabe Udon was very good too. The thick noodles were well cooked and there was plenty of good stuff in that bowl of soup. Service was attentive and friendly. BYOB

The sushi is standard, the dining area is impressive and the service is slow. I loved the chandelier set up and giant Buddha in the corner. The atmosphere is comfortable enough for a casual visit or a romantic date. The service was great as far as staff saying hello and the routine script but it took a very long time for our sushi rolls to come out. I almost ate my husbands arm. Jokin’. I love when menus have reference pictures, brownie points on that one.

I guess this place use to be Akira and is now Osaka, I actually bought a groupon for Akira and they still honored it under Osaka and didn’t hassle me which was pretty cool of them. This place is also BYOB and most customers take advantage of it. This place is has a very nice upper scale décor. The rolls are a little on the small side, but the food is great. We got a 9 pieces of assorted sushi, spicy tuna roll, salad and soup for $ 19. We also got shrimp and vegetable tempura $ 7.50 worth it. We also got a spicy scallop roll, a little on the small side, but very good $ 7. Will definitely be back in the future, good for date night, watch out for specials.
