Solid philly cheese steak, definitely would recommend this place if nearby and craving a hot sandwich

The sandwiches here are usually great, and I preferred them over all their competitors till my experience last week. I stopped in around 5 pm or so Sunday evening and ordered my sandwich, then immediately noticed they put less meat on it than normal. The staff was preparing several sandwiches for a phone-in order and I was watching them work while I waited for my order. This is when I noticed the guy adding toppings do something I’ve never seen before: he removed tomatoes with oregano, salt, pepper and vinegar and placed them back into the pan of precut tomatoes, then removed the lettuce and did the same with it. When I asked if the staff normally removed toppings from a sandwich and placed them back into the bins they could only reply with ridiculous stammering and clueless looks. Why wouldn’t you throw those toppings away and start over? Are they doing so poorly financially that they need to save every scrap of lettuce and slice of tomato that they can? I also asked what would happen if they accidentally put those tomatoes onto a sandwich for someone who was allergic to another ingredient they had touched. They had no logical response. Whoever the manager is at this location needs to retrain their employees, as they don’t seem to know some of the basic rules of working in food service.

What I loved most about this chain is the fact that you see them cut the deli. There is nothing far better than fresh ingredients. The sub was great and I had it with their signature dressing and it was fantastic. The times I have passed by you can smell the freshness coming out of this place. I would definitely recommend this place.

Way better than Subway, only difference between here and Jimmy Johns is that JJ doesn’t make hot subs and the service is slower(obviously) the prices and taste are almost the same. Sometimes they have their off days sometimes they’re on point.

I love Jersey Mikes! We use to have them back home but they all went out so when we moved to Virginia, I was excited to see that they are here. We have been to this location a lot and have never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and quick and the food is always fresh.

Dropped in for lunch here a couple weeks ago. Couple other Unilocal friends said it was good enough to add to the rotation. I have to agree. Friendly folks, that great sub-shop smell as soon as you walk in, and a great lunch special. Keep an eye on this one, because I plan to try out more of their menu and really get a good feel for the place in the next several weeks. Althought I didn’t stay there, I am a fan of outdoor seating, and they offer a nice, clean area out front for their patrons that want some fresh air.

I always look forward to writing reviews for parks and original, locally owned restaurants and businesses; writing about an experience at a nationwide chain is not something I rush out to do. However, chains warrant honest reviews too – especially when one is treated to subpar or exemplary service and food. I share the following with you about my first visit to Jersey Mike’s Subs. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the fun décor; the interior has a Jersey shore beach vibe going on and I dig it. The print on the wall says, «Point Pleasant,» which is the location of the original Mike’s Subs founded back in 1956. Adding to the fun, lighthearted atmosphere is a friendly crew. Jersey Mike’s is known for its customer service and dedication to making everyone who visits feel like a regular. When we walked in(myself, my three boys, and a friend of theirs), I told them it was our first time and the staff took the opportunity to tell us about the menu and had lots of patience as we made our selections. Basically, there are cold and warm subs along with wraps; the warm subs –such as their infamous cheesesteaks– are cooked to order right in front of you. It takes a bit longer this way, but who wouldn’t rather have fresh ingredients cooked to order over microwaved limp meat? Their sizes are giant(14−15-in.); regular(7-in.); and the mini(5-in.). We all went with the regular, which was plenty big enough. My youngest had the kid’s meal and I believe that is even smaller than a mini; it also comes with a cookie and drink. He said he wanted salami on his but I knew he isn’t a fan of spicy so I tried to talk him out of it. The staff said they could give him a sample to try and handed him a nice, big piece. I thought this was awesome customer service and something I wasn’t expecting.(Okay – so he loved it and said it wasn’t spicy. My little boy is growing up!) When it comes to an amazing sub, it’s all about the bread. If you’re used to the cardboard-like, tasteless glutenous items served at places such as Subway, then you’re in for a real treat at Jersey Mike’s. My first bite blew me away with the freshness of the bread: soft, chewy, and full of homemade bread flavor. Not only was my tongue tantalized, but the aroma from the fresh sub roll made me smile. Needless to say, the bread itself won me over. One of the staff people told me Jersey Mike’s makes all of the bread at their main location and ships it daily to each location. By doing so, they guarantee a uniform bread. If the stores each made their own bread, the taste would vary from store to store due to different water sources. I got a regular chipotle cheesesteak($ 6.45 for the sandwich alone or $ 8.64 for a combo) with mushrooms added at my request with no extra charge. It comes with a chipotle mayo but it wasn’t spicy in the least; I should have added jalapenos to it. The taste was fantastic, though, so no complaints from me. Some cheesesteaks are filled with meat that can be tough and/or chewy but this was perfect. You can’t go wrong with a cheesesteak at Jersey Mike’s. Next time I’ll have to try one of their cold subs. As we were finishing our meal, one of the staff asked how we enjoyed the food and when we raved about it he said, «Good. So I assume you’ll be returning?» The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and that is a dying skill in fast food restaurants. Kudos to Jersey Mike’s for offering customers quality food with excellent customer service. I shall return!

I ate here for the first time and I had the Chipotle Cheesesteak — pretty darn good. Didn’t wait too long and the guy who made my sandwich brought it to my table, even though you usually pick it up. Seems like a pretty well establishment, considering they had 2 flat panel TVs with ESPN! They should do sandwich stamps so like the 5th one is free or somethin. anyway, good place. i’ll most likely go back. but i still gotta try the other competitors like firehouse subs.

dangerous. thats what the tuna sub’s at Jersey Mike’s are. It’s unrefined, its kind of sloppy, things fall out of it as you eat. its great. this is assuming you get your tuna sub ‘mikes style’ in which the sub is given a good dose of vinegar/salt/pepper. i like to add tabasco sauce(but then again i add that to just about everything UNF!) so yeah, again, this is dangerous now that i know there is an epic tuna sub within my reach during lunchtime. panera’s tuna SUCKS in comparison. subway is kind of meh. jasons deli makes an okay tuna melt. i could compare more tuna sandwiches in the area(thats my favorite sandwich [yes i know thats kind of creepy {yes i know my mercury levels must be out of control}]) but i wont waste your time because this one pretty much tops the list. *for this area* i dont want to infringe on more legit tuna hotspots in hampton roads. but thats another story…

We love cheesesteaks so our expectations were high for Jersey Mike’s in Chesapeake. This was our first time here and we had read other Unilocaler’s reviews. We ordered the Big Kahuna Cheese Steak as a giant. It was big enough for two if you make it a combo with a bag of chips and a drink. If you like lots of gooey cheese, sauteed onions, mushrooms, and jalapenos, you’ll like this hot sub! They were very generous with the steak and cheese. The restaurant was clean and well-lit. The employees were friendly and efficient. We plan to come back and try another hot sub soon.

Jersey Mike’s is new to the area, at least the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake. Subs come in 3 sizes. Small, Regular and Giant. The Giant is huge and about the size of 2 regulars put together end to end. I had the Chipotle Cheese Steak sub for lunch and it was a pretty good cheese steak overall. However I thought the chipotle was a little light and you could barely taste it. Not a bad sandwich though. Very filling. The facility is brand spanking new and was of course spotless. Navigation is easy, there’s a counter on the left, seats on the right and some more chairs up front and outside. They were also pretty crowded and I’m sure management is happy about that considering they just opened recently. I’m looking forward to going back and trying out the Italian sub on the next visit. Check them out.
