The breakfast here was decent. It’s a local greasy spoon. No complaints on service. Coffee was good and hot.

Meh– I have only frequented this place a few times over the years– but still not impressed. The staff is rude, food=mediocre at best, and prices are a little high. There are mush better breakfast joints in Cheshire you can go to. overall just not impressed.

Never going back… The food was ok but the service was a catastrophe. My meal came but I had to wait 10 minutes before the waitress came back. When she asked how the meal was I truthfully said I don’t know. You never gave me any utensils. And that’s when the her tip went down the toilet much like the food after 2 hours. Customers are the life of a restaurant, treat them like crap and you’ll be packing up in no tome

I had an ok omelet, the toast was good but the potatoes were deep fried like Friendly’s(not a big fan). The staff made me feel unwanted and just hurry up, eat and leave. The price was a bit high for the average food quality. Most likely not to return.

Nice hometown breakfast and lunch joint. Been here twice now and have had good service and good solid diner style food. Try the apple fritter french toast and the deep fried home fries –yummy!

I’ve been here more times than I count; it’s close to where I work. I’ve been to Paul’s for both breakfast and lunch. When I go out to lunch with business partners/vendors, we’ll often to head Paul’s. More often than not, they’ll request we go there the next time we get together. I haven’t had a bad meal here or bad service. I’m somewhat surprised by the negative reviews. Also, the place is always fairly busy; especially during the lunch hour. Being busy tends to be a good sign that a place is doing something correctly. Paul’s was recently purchased by a non-Paul, but they kept the name. To me, it’s been a seamless transition. Same menu, same wait staff… same everything. I’ve ordered a number of different meals here from regular ol’ breakfast items to lunch specials. Everything has been good. I often have good luck with the specials which rotate fairly frequently. With lunch, they usually give you a choice of sides if you don’t want fries. You can order off the breakfast menu if you go for lunch. The service here is always friendly and attentive. Most of the waitresses have been there for at least a few years. Again, I like Paul’s. It’s consistently good and has a very friendly feel to it.

i know, just because a restaurant says it is open until a certain time doesnt mean that if you get there within opening and closing time that they will actually serve you. is there a time frame that is it reasonable to expect to be served? we were there 30 min prior to their posted closing time and they turned us away, so if you are headed over there maybe try to get there an hour before posted closing time if you want to actually get food. really wanted to try their famous veggie burgers but now that probably wont happen. good luck.

I’ve been here 3 times and been disappointed every time. Once I got an eggplant panini. The eggplant was ok, but the panini was so tough I could hardly cut it with a steak knife. And it was way to messy to eat as a sandwich. then I came for an omelette. It was supposed to have cheese, I couldn’t tell if it did. It was the most tasteless omelette I’d ever had. They burnt the toast and I had to wait forever for new toast. And the«hash browns» are just frozen cut up potatoes thrown under the broiler. No onions, no flavor. The 3rd time, I just got fries and a soda. The large soda was really small and the fries were soggy. The waitresses are really nice and efficient. But I’m never going back

Pretty average breakfast/brunch fare. I had two eggs overeasy with rye toast. Toast wasn’t really toasty, not really the diner average amount of butter on it, but the eggs were pretty perfectly cooked. My mom got vegetable hash on the side of her eggs, which was a grilled veggie burger chopped up and combined with grilled green bell peppers and onions. The veggie burger part was eh, but the peppers and onions were delish. Service was excellent. Fast and really friendly, with great attention to detail. Space is cozy, bathroom is clean, noise level is more than tolerable. I’m not aching to go back, but I wouldn’t turn it down.

The most mediocre restaurant in the area. Everything there is pretty much okay. You leave and you don’t feel you’ve been cheated or taken, or for that matter, had anything special. I can speak only for breakfast which is somewhat overpriced and somewhat dull. Other places have signature menu items. Paul’s, not so much. Having said all that, if they would just try a little harder with something as simple as home fries instead of ladling out a scoop of wannabe tater tots, I could overlook the rest of their failings. Then again, failings is too strong a word. They don’t fail at Paul’s; they just don’t achieve.

Paul’s is a great family, hometown type of restaurant. The food is fresh and the atmosphere is very family oriented. If you’re looking for a quiet meal — I’d sit at the counter. It does ride on its old reputation a bit, but you’ll never be disappointed with your meal.

This place is pretty typical. If we want standard breakfast or a BLT, and we happen to be in Cheshire, we’ll come here. Overall, nothing special but nothing terrible. However, this has all changed now that I have tried their(apparently famous) veggie burger. I am not exaggerating how delicious it is. It is literally the best veggie patty I have ever had, and I’ve had my fair share. It is actually tasty, and not just in a I’m trying to eat healthy so I guess this is pretty good kind of way. It is legit. Apparently they ship out these patties to other restaurants in Central CT, and some towards the shore, and now I know why. It is moist and has a blend of spices that I can’t put my finger on, and has been bugging me ever since. Even if you think you don’t like veggie burgers, this is nothing close to normal, so I highly recommend trying it.

Ordered takeout for breakfast. What a disaster! You’d think for such a well established place they’d have their act together. My order was messed up. The woman checking me out at the counter was swearing under her breath and was not apologetic. Not a good experience!!! There are better places to go for breakfast in cheshire. Not worth the aggravation and bad attitudes from the staff.

Pretty much your typical diner. Bland food, normal prices, nothing special on the menu. I was expecting something much different because it is a local diner in a nice town, but it was basically the same as your typical busy, Greek style, mass produced food diner. Had breakfast: eggs & toast were fine… home fries were clearly out of a bag… just nothing special about this place. I’d rather go to IHOP or Denny’s than spend the same, if not more, at this place.

Paul’s is great. My most favorite dish is the Pasta Fagioli. Wow it’s really good, really good. I love their salads especially the pear salad and the blackened chicken salad. Breakfast is really good as well. The Apple Fritter French toast is out of the world. Home fries are my favorite. My only complaint recently was the Florentine omelet. I’m kind of a nit picker when it comes to spinach. There is absolutely no reason to use frozen spinach. Fresh spinach is cheaper and really easy to cook(a little olive oil on the flat top, spinach in a thin layer, salt and pepper, and it cooks real fast). Paul’s is great. It’s where Cheshire movers and shakers eat lunch. You will always find a local doctor, lawyer, politician, or business owner here. The staff has not changed in years which is pleasant. Paul and his wife are great hosts and will ensure your satisfaction.

No, definitely NOT the best place for breakfast in Cheshire. Perhaps, the most expensive and most overrated place in Cheshire, but not the best. Paul’s has been here for some time and may have once had some notoriety, but the owner(Paul) is quite comfortable with his previous reputation and could care little about what he delivers today. His food is marginal at best and the Omar coffee that he serves tastes like he is using recycled oil from the auto shop next door. Truly the worst cup of coffee you will ever drink. The omelets are acceptable, but at almost $ 9 a pop, you would think that you are dining in Manhattan, not some 80s era carryover. If there is anything that stands out here it is the home fries. Unfortunately, the coffee will so badly tarnish your mouth and the prices will so badly tarnish your savings, you may be so traumatized to enjoy the home fries. Cheshire is slim on dining options, but you may be better served at a Dunkin Donuts or heading up to Route 322 in Southington.

This was described to me as the best breakfast place in «The Shire.» I would have to agree. The home fries were delicious and you couldn’t find a more perfect pancake. I definitely would recommend this to anyone that was looking for a good hangover cure or just wanted a great breakfast place. They have good prices, the staff is friendly and there is always a line out the door. I will definitely be eating here again.
