I’m not a car enthusiast, but I always knew this was a place to check out as far as museums in West County. Plus, it had an stl250 birthday cake, which is how I first heard about this in the first place. When I heard it was closing(it closed 6÷7÷2015), I decided to get in there when I can. Like all the reviewers say, there were about 40 different cars — mostly, if not all, German made. It even included one of the original unicycle-looking cars designed by Karl Benz!(believed to be one of the very few surviving in the world) Overall, it was interesting. Most of the cars had some cool trivia next to them. Would have been nice if they had at least one where they let guests sit in and pose for pictures. And because it was two days before they closed, they only charged me $ 7. The place seemed to be cool while it was there for a short time(ten years). Sadly, I was told some of the cars will be sold elsewhere.

Walking through the lobby with Frank Sinatra songs playing in the background, I stepped into the cavernous pitch black display hall and it was like arriving for a Miss America pageant. The cars here are lined up along the perimeter and all are as poised and well lighted as any beauty contestant. They sparkle under their spotlights. You can’t take a bad photo of any of these lovely cars. Really, you can’t. Unfortunately, there aren’t many cars on display — I think about 40 — and although the emphasis is on Mercedes vehicles, there are some odd inclusions like a Herbie the Love Bug, a Citroen Deux Chaveaux, and a Trabant. Is it all worth the $ 9 admission charge? I’m glad I visited but for me, no.

Perhaps 2.5 stars is more accurate. Some of the Mercedes in this small collection are plebeian and not well restored, even a W124 is there, a common four door, not even a CE or a 500E. The ’59 Ferrari Dino replica is the star of the show and it’s neither a Ferrari nor is it a Mercedes. While $ 9 admission won’t break the bank, I don’t think it’s a fair admission price for a small static display without docents or interactive content. Worse still is that I’d just visited Hyman Ltd, also in St Louis where more than a hundred immaculately restored cars are for sale, spanning the eras from brass to the 80’s. And that was free.

Okay, so I have been doing a horrible job doing reviews lately, but the kemp museum is absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I are car lovers! It was just amazing to see so many Mercedes-Benz especially classics in one place.

You don’t even have to like cars to fall in love with the Kemp museum. The staff are as helpful and friendly as can be, and there is always something new in their rotating exhibits. Bring a camera for sure; you’ll have lots of cool car wallpapers for your computer.

Not to much to say other than this is an excellent venue for any event you could have. The classiness of the cars, the layout of the interior. Add your caterer and arrange tables and you’ve got a nice setting for food and conversation.

What a great little museum of Mercedes-Benz automobiles. If your looking for a nice opportunity to spend some time and learn about car, this is a great little museum. The collection is young, but they do have a couple of fine aquisitions, and are always looking for more. If you have someone who likes cars, this is a good place to go. Not the typical hype or commercialism you see in most big car museums. You get up close and if the right folks are there, which often happens, you will bet a very personal tour of this museum. They also rent out the galley for special events, which is perfect for the wedding of a real car guy or gal, or if you want your meeting event to be different. A very good facility for a meeting!
