Good solid burger place. Service was excellent. Not much more to say other than that.

I went to Smashburger yesterday evening, both to accompany my daughter who wanted a beef burger and to continue my search for a good veggie burger in the area. They serve a black bean veggie burger with avocado, ranch dressing, pepper jack cheese, lettuce and tomato on a whole grain bun. I shared some Smashburger fries with my daughter as well. The fries were good, not great. The veggie burger was really gross. It was black bean mush. The restaurant was clean and service was good, but I cannot go back unless the recipe changes. Not while I’m a vegetarian anyway.

We have now made SmashBurger our place for a diner style burger. We are not ones to frequent fast food places but we make an exception for Smashburger, especially the one in Chesterfield. There is not much I can add from before. We order very simple cheeseburgers, regular size, with no real embellishments. I find a better grilled flavor here than at Steak and Shake or Culver’s(ignoring the other obvious chains). What we have noted is how polite and helpful the staff is at this location. It is a tribute to the management, I think. We are just impressed by it every time, when they bring your food and come to clear away your trash. It is rare to find this in fast food service. That and a decent diner burger keep us coming back when this is what we crave.

Good. But I think rather pricy. Counter help was pleasant and speedy. Meal was prepared hot and efficiently. I am trying to decide if this place is better than 5 Guys.

I had high hopes given the number of «gourmet burger» shops competing in this market, but unfortunately thought it was average. In fairness, Five Guy’s Burgers has exponentially raised the bar, otherwise I might have been more impressed. Selection is good, trendy atmosphere, and tasty. Price $ 12 for regular cheeseburger fries & Coke. Size is ample, but half as big and more expensive than five guys not to mention toppings would have driven the price even higher. My biggest complaint is cleanliness. The table number I was handed to display while awaiting my food was repulsive… a quick wipe with a sanitizer would be nice. Ordering at the counter could be improved with a wall mounted menu… Confusing to find a menu.

Thought the burgers were to greasy. Kind of reminded me of Steak ‘n Shake burgers & fries. Ingredients were fresh though & had a Nice clean atmosphere. I had the Spicy Baja Smash($ 6.29 +$ 2.29 reg spicy fry). My husband had the Bacon & Chaz big smash($ 7.29). He thought it was actually greasier then Steak n Shake. We won’t be back. We prefer 5 Guys for greasy burgers.

Am I allowed to review a place with«burger» in its name if I’ve never had one of their burgers? I’ve had the black bean burger. Does that count? I’m counting it. First, a disclaimer: I’ve been to the Chesterfield and St. Charles locations several times. I have no preference between the two of them; both seem equal to me in terms of service, atmosphere, and food. I have chosen to review the Chesterfield location because it is the one that is most convenient for me. However, some of my food pictures *might* be from the other location. As both locations are equal to me and as Smashburger is a chain, I would imagine you can expect something similar to what you see in my pictures at either location. Moving on… Smashburger is a fast-casual burger joint. You’ll order at the counter, and your food will be brought to your table when it is ready. Service always has been good. You won’t have a waiter, but someone will bus your table.(You get real dishes and utensils here.) Also, someone likely will check on you while you’re eating.(During my most recent visit, they must have asked me how my food was at least four times. «Yep, still good.») The menu consists of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, salads, and shakes. If none of their specialty sandwiches are calling your name, you can create your own by selecting the bun, cheese, and toppings of your choice. Smashburger locations around the country offer regional menu items. For example, you can order fried cheese curds in Wisconsin or cajun fries in Louisiana. In St. Louis, we have the St. Louis burger or chicken sandwich, which includes grilled onions, garlic-grilled mushrooms, bell peppers, and a pretzel bun. We also have a gooey butter cake shake! It’s made with Häagen-Dazs, but you have to give them props for that. Gooey butter cake is nowhere to be found on the menu at Ted Drewes, St. Louis’ most iconic custard stand. That’s something that has always puzzled me. It seems like gooey butter cake and frozen custard would be the perfect marriage of absolute St. Louisan decadence. My husband gives Smashburger five stars. From what I’ve seen, the burger and thin fries are similar to that of Steak ‘n Shake. However, dining at Smashburger is much more enjoyable. I can’t even count the bad and mediocre experiences I’ve had at Steak ‘n Shake. That being said, my personal rating for Smashburger would be three stars, for a couple of reasons: 1. They don’t have many healthy options. They have salads, but with the calories in their dressings, you might as well just order a burger. Also, I’m pretty sure they used to have lettuce buns. I no longer see that as an option on the menu. Maybe you just have to ask now? 2. It’s expensive. Specialty sandwiches range from $ 5.99 to $ 7.29. Want a regular order of plain fries? That’s another $ 1.99. How about a regular drink? $ 1.99 You’ll easily be spending $ 10 or $ 11 before tax. It would be so nice if they offered a combo option. They might be offering higher quality ingredients than a BK or Mickey D’s, but come on. Everyone knows restaurants make a killing on drinks anyway. Help a sister out here. On my last visit, I was going to try to keep it(somewhat) healthy by ordering a create-your-own bunless chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, avocado, goat cheese, a side of buffalo fries, and a regular drink. The base sandwich was $ 6.29, plus $ 0.70 for goat cheese, plus $ 1.29 for avocado, plus $ 2.29 for buffalo fries and $ 1.99 for a drink. That would have been $ 12.56 before tax. For a bunless chicken sandwich, fries, and a drink, I think it’s fair to say that’s bordering on ridiculous. I ended up ordering the Baja Cobb salad($ 5.99) with grilled chicken($ 2) and a drink($ 1.99), but that still was pretty pricy for something that was mostly lettuce. I’m not kidding. According to their nutritional information, the chicken adds 120 calories to the salad. That equates to about two to three ounces of chicken on top of a mound of mixed greens. But I’m not a hater. True, I found the black bean burger I mentioned earlier to be flavorless and sort of hated it, but I’ve enjoyed everything else I’ve tried. My husband has as well. So, I’m taking the average of our two ratings and giving Smashburger four stars – four kinda overpriced stars.

I don’t get out this way much but was meeting a friend. We both created our own burgers and got fries. It was tasty but i wouldnt make a special trip out here just for a burger. It is very pricey for what it is. Note this is in a very busy strip center next to a Trader Joe’s so depending on when you arrive you may have to fight for a parking spot.

Hubs & I aren’t big burger people, but these were very good. I had the bacon cheeseburger on egg wash bun with smashed fries, water and Oreo shake and he had the Buffalo burger on egg bun with regular fries. Hubs cleaned his plate, which is rare. I ate my whole burger and shake-the fries were a bit overwhelming. I wish I had gotten the regular fries. Overall good, but for $ 25 just too expensive. We would rather visit Culvers and save $ 12.

Yes, I came to a burger place and had chicken. Lol. I’ve actually been here several times and had the burgers, which are great. So, this visit I opted for the Crispy SmashChicken w/pepperjack and bacon along with SmashFries which have olive oil and rosemary on them. Everything is cooked fresh to order. Their smashsauce is great and goes well with everything. Get that. Friendly service. No complaints from me.

This is my go-to burger place now. Shakes? check. Awesome fries? check. Really good burgers? check. Salads for my wife? check. The service was prompt and friendly. They even have gluten free burger buns. We usually go to «5-Dudes», but I find their fries a bit soggy. These are hands-down amazing… and this place offers shakes for the kiddos too? Did I already say that? My 7yo is still talking about it. Great job guys, we dig you.

This is my favorite burger by far. I usually get the classic egg bun, but they also have a pretzel bun! Their toppings are always fresh and they have a wide variety of them. Also their smash fries are out of this world. Yum! The service is always quick, even when they’re extremely busy. They’re also friendly, even though it seems like there are always only teenagers working there.

Under normal circumstances I try to eat healthy, but lately I have been living on the edge a bit. The edge of insanity that is. I suggested to my husband that in lieu of our typical Chipotle or Crazy Bowls healthy lunch we try something different; something naughty. In my book fast food burgers and fries are naughty. So, we stopped in Smashburger to check it out. There was nothing about this place or the food that was electrifying. I have no specific criticisms of the service or cleanliness. It was just unexceptional. This is the style of restaurant where you walk up to the counter and order your food, they give you a number, you sit down and they bring your food out. They offer some specialty burgers/chicken sandwiches with pre fixed combinations of toppings and then there is the«build your own» burger or chicken sandwich with a variety of buns, cheeses and toppings. They also have a variety of normal fries, skinny shoestring fries, sweet potato fries and fried green beans. I ordered a burger with goat cheese, spinach on a pretzel bun with a side of sweet potato fries. It was good but nothing to «write home about». Mr. L, in an effort to try to be healthy with his burger, ordered the fried green beans. Not good & I do not recommend. I think this is probably a place my teenage daughters would like because its the type of food they crave and ask for. Junk food! For me, when I am going to eat something unhealthy I really want it to taste good and be worth the calories. In this case, the food was greasy and unsatisfying and just not worth the guilt. If I do come back with my daughters I think I will try the salad!

Smash burger is a burger place right across from my alma mater! So after class we would go across the street and buy a burger! I especially love their sweet potato fries! As of last year they were the only smash burger in New York City, so I was glad that I could just walk across the street and order a burger! Usually I go for the kids meal because it comes with a decent size hamburger, a drink, and sweet potato fries! They are to die for!

Smashburger is always solid. This is my first time at this location, and everything was really great. Smashburger allows you to substitute a black bean patty, with any of their burger creations. So, I tried the regional«St. Louis Burger»($ 5.99). It comes with provel cheese, garlic grilled mushroom, grilled onions and sweet bell peppers. All on a pretzel bun. While their southwestern black bean burger option is awesome, this is almost better. Everything works really well together, and the pretzel bun is perfection. Smashfries($ 1.99) were a tad more oily than normal, but otherwise they’re still awesome. To top off an awesome meal, we ordered both the salted caramel shake, and butter cake shake. If caramel is your thing, I highly recommend it. It’s very strong in the caramel flavor, and may be one of the best shakes I’ve had. The butter cake was nothing too special, the little butter cake pieces were too ground up to really get a good taste of them. If you haven’t tried Smashburger, I’d definitely recommend it. This location is pretty big, and employees are really nice.

No, no, no, no… This is a truly inferior burger to other burger restaurants of its kind. I would go any day to Five Guys over Smash Burger. You pay a lot of money and get something similar to a greasy Steak n’ Shake burger… which, has its place in the world(hint: Steak n’ Shake) where it can be found cheaper and more conveniently. My only exception to my 2 star rule is the rosemary fries, these were great. The décor is minimalist and when we went it was swamped with children post-soccer match. So, it seems to be family friendly.
