Took my coat to get two pockets stitched and two buttons resewn. Was asked to pay $ 25 up front and that it would take a week. Called a little over a week later and was told it was not ready and to give him until the end of the week which I did. I called again and it was still not ready. 17 days after I dropped it off it was «ready». I picked it up and one of the buttons was still not put back on.

Carlos Tailor Shop will be relocating to 320 West 31^st Street, still in Chicago. Same Bridgeport area but closer to the expressway. Keeping same phone number. Most likely in February. I am sure with the same personal quality and friendly service.

Great service and quality work at this hidden gem. Carlos and his team have done amazing work on my husbands suits and and pants.

Carlos did a great job on a coat (Cashmere and Mink) that was about 3 sizes too big he was able to keep my pockets. It looks absolutely gorgeous on me. I can’t wait to wear it somewhere special. I will be returning to have some dresses taken in they’re too big too.

Carlos and his team have been doing my tailoring for a few years now. By far, top-​notch, high quality tailoring! Carlos is a very easy going guy and will tell you straight what your tailoring entails and price you reasonably. I appreciate his honesty and candor.
He and his team are in-​demand, so they are generally always working on a backlog of items. The key is that they will not rush through their backlog and sacrifice quality. Carlos may tell you a week and your item doesn’t get done for two weeks — it’s ALL worth the wait.
If you need a rushed item, I’m sure he’ll work with you; but, don’t be surprised if you may get charged a bit more to jump the line… fair is fair.
Overall, his shop is my go-​to for tailoring. Quality = high. Pricing = reasonable.
His shop is a definite asset to the Bridgeport Community.

Came to see carlos after searching for a good tailor with great reviews. And thanks to Unilocal and to all the Unilocalers for the positive reviews they left for carlos tailor shop I was confident to come here.
I have a wool over coat and a trench coat that needed the sleeves shortened. When I came to his business carlos wasnt available but he has two employees working for him. A male and female couple. The gentleman sized me up on how short I wanted my sleeves and I was out the door. The only thing that was a set back was that I felt it took longer than expected but I’m not complaining because I understand a tailor as good as carlos has many garments brought to him to get worked on.
The nice thing out of it was that he was courteous enough to call me by the end of the first week to apologize for the tardiness. Carlos is good at his craft they only downside as another Unilocaler put it is turnaround time is slow. Prices are reasonable. But I would highly recommend carlos tailor shop if you need great work done on your garments. If you need something done from one day to another I would say go somewhere else but here you can’t rush great work.

I have been to Carlos’ Tailor Shop many times in the past two years. Never had a problem with them yet. They are really good at what they do. Fast, quality service for a low price.

Carlos and his staff do a tremendous job at reasonable prices. I’ve taken several wool slacks, shirt and a coat — no complaints.

I had to get my suit taken in for a wedding and Carlos’ shop was able to take my measurements, see what needed to be altered, and all at a fair rate and quick turnaround (approx one week.)
Fair warning, there isn’t much to look at when you enter this place. It doesn’t look like it has changed since it was first opened, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. As long as the focus is on their work, and it’s acceptable in terms of atmosphere.
My wife was happy with the work that Carlos and his team did, so that’s a win in my book! I will be back for my other suits in the future.

Undoubtedly Carlos is cool people. Personable, professional, extra points for being a Northsider, and he bleeds Cubbie blue all the while his tailor shop is down the block from Comiskey (I’ll never call it the Cell).
I’ve never been happy with tailors on the Northside so when I discovered Carlos’, on none other than Unilocal,I trekked over because there was nothing but stellar reviews. I brought a complete suit that needed tailoring and I have no complaints. Look good, feel good. In the process I’ve recommended plenty friends and family to come here. Exceptional service and pricing that will shame David’s Bridal for women and always trump a chop shop like K&G for men. Give it a go.
The place itself is bare bones but when you stop in expect to feel like you’re at home. A good feeling and great conversation even if you’re only there for five minutes, unless you yourself are stiff. For the Unilocal elite reading this it was pretty cool to see the original Unilocal notice framed that detailed how much the shop is coveted amongst the community.
Just know this. You should leave feeling like you know you’re gonna be looking good and that will translate into feeling good too.

Carlos and his team know how to take care of you. Their work is top notch and turn around is quick. My husband got his wedding suit tailored here and since then we’ve been coming back. Prices are reasonable and Carlos always welcomes you with a smile.

So I have my first day of work on Monday. I got a great deal on some pants but needed them altered. Carlos said he would have them ready they next day (Saturday) and they were perfect! Very professional and courteous. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

My family and I have followed Carlos from his Maxwell street location to the current Halsted location. This has been over a period of, at least on my end, twenty years! I have never had an issue with the alterations I’ve had done. In fact, this is the only spot that gets my small hems just the way I like. The prices have increased with the times but are, imho, fair. It’s great to see the business still going after all of this time!

Unilocal wants a long review so it won’t be just a tip, I’m on the way to pick up my clothes from the tailor shop. It’s a good place I drive to there from a few miles away to go to Carlos Tailor Shop.

$ 25 to have the sleeves on my suit jacket shortened, which was a decent price considering the tricky placement of the buttons on my sleeves. This place is a total dive, but you’re getting quality tailoring without breaking the bank which is tough to find in Chicago. Will be coming back here soon!

In searching for an affordable tailor, we came to Carlos’ Tailor Shop with a ladies’ shirt dress and men’s dress shirt as a test. Since I looked up reviews, I recognized Carlos as he was pinning up another lady getting several dresses hemmed. He was quick and attended to us within 5 min. With ease, he pinned the men’s shirt by slimming the body and sleeves. He called another older man to pin up the dress. They communicated in Spanish — we paid for half of the service and went on our way.
A week later, the items were ready to be picked up. The dress shirt was a perfect fit! Unfortunately, due to miscommunication, the sleeves were not altered correctly on the dress. Carlos was apologetic and offered to fix it quickly. I made a quick run for groceries, and when I returned in 30 minutes, it was fixed as promised. However, due to how it was altered the first time, there was not enough fabric to do the second alteration cleanly. The edges were uneven and had some fraying (I think it was due to stress from un-​stitching and re-​stitching). It’s not noticeable unless you look closely, but I was disappointed that it didn’t turn out as amazing as reviews lead me to believe.

The bottomline: Good-​quality tailoring, but pricey.
I had a cuff-​length hemmed on a dress shirt, jacket and a suit jacket. The total came to almost 200, which was kind of pricey. It makes me feel like I was price gauge. The tailoring took too long too (2.5 weeks).
The quality is solid though, but for this kind of price I expect great work.

This is the best tailor shop I have ever been to. Carlos is extremely professional and listens when you tell him what you want. I have taken many items to him and have been satisfied with each piece.
Prices are fair and he gets your clothes back to you in a timely manner. He is honest about how long it will take, and the one time he was unable to meet a deadline, he called me right away to let me know. I highly recommend this shop for even the most difficult tailoring jobs.
