Sucked dick and payed 24 $!!! DOLLARS. THE employee was very rude. Some young girl. Also she was short on change!!! The noodles were bland. Not for the money. I cud go to panda express for better food and worth the money. This place shud just go out of «BUSINESS»!!!

One star if I could. Got the Orange chicken what a joke sooo much bread and almost no chicken per piece. Honestly you’d get more chicken in a single processed nugget from McDonald’s than from here. Veggie side not fresh.

Ordered the bourbon chicken and the chicken was cold and undercooked. It seems as if they tried to hide the fact that the bourbon chicken was undercooked by adding a large amount of the dark sauce.

The only reason I am giving this place 1 star is because they have poor service. I got a beef noodle soup, knowing I wouldn’t be able to finish it but it is a soup kind of weather. Before my food was ready, I saw the egg drop soup which I wanted instead. I know it is an inconvenience to change your order but I asked nicely if they could change it and they didn’t have a nice respone about it. One of the workers seemed like he wanted to but he had to ask his manager and she was just mean. She gave a snotty response saying,” It is already there. Go get it.” I mean how rude! I just did not want to make a big fuss. But never buying here again. Plus the soup was not even that good and it is $ 10 for a mediocre warm soup. Gross.

Not saying anything new in expressing how bad this place is. Shame on me for ordering the Lo Mein despite being able to see its bland linguine-self on the warmer, but I guess I was just that gastronomically desperate. The only thing that kept me from throwing this out was my life long conditioning of never throwing out food unless it’s rotten. So, yeah, skip at all costs.

I would not return. Oily to the point where the food was sliding across the plate when you attempted to get a piece of food with a fork. There is no reason Asian style food should be prepared like that.

Chinese lady behind the counter is rude. Makes faces and sneers when you ask for cup of water and a pair of chopsticks. Total turn off after food purchase. Aint coming back

This review is for the North Riverside Mall location. I first discovered this place back when it was Cajun Café, circa 2007. It’s now China Max, but they’ve kept some of the same food and I think even some of the original employees. It’s not every day that I write a review for a food court«restaurant», but after having one of the tastiest lunches I’ve ever had today, I had to say this: Spicy. Bourbon. Chicken. SBC has been a favorite of mine for years, but I was just floored by how good it was today. I think the recipe may have been improved recently, hence my desire to post a review. The sauce looked a little darker, and the flavor was just off the charts. Smoky, sweet, and just a little bit of heat. Forget Panda Express, go here if you want flavor!(Even better than most ‘legitimate’ Chinese places around here!) My only complaint is they got rid of the Mac and Cheese after converting to China Max. Still, I am a hardcore fan and will return soon.

As a fan of Americanized Chinese food, I didn’t think I could go wrong with China Max. Like every typical chinese restaurant in the food court, China Max lures you in with the bourbon chicken on a toothpick trick. I went for my standard order of noodles and two entrees(orange chicken and beef and broccoli). I also decided to add a side of fried bananas/plantains. My total ended up being $ 13… which is surprisingly expensive for chinese food in a food court! My meal was placed on a styrofoam round plate with stingy portions. This is NOT Panda Express. The food was decent(I’m not very picky), but the noodles were too garlicky for me. I could literally tell the noodles were too garlicky, because with every bite of the noodles I would take, there would be several pieces of chopped garlic along with it. Aside from the expensive prices and mediocre food, what turned me off the most from this place was how rude the staff was. While placing my order in line, the cutest little boy approached the cashier requesting a refill on his drink, and was rudely denied, stating«86 cents for refill!!» Really? I was in shock. Anyways, I do not intend on coming back here anytime soon.

A knockoff of Panda Express and it’s more expensive. The food wasnt good at all. The noodles were too sweet and no vegetables at all. Beef and broccoli was actually 5 stalks of broccoli and a tiny piece of beef. Disappointing!

I love Chinese food. This, however, was awful. The spring rolls were mushy, the lo mein tasted like poorly cooked linguini(and had no vegetables in it!!) and my orange chicken was a burnt, crusty mess! This is the first Chinese food place I would never go back to.
