Wait wait, what? How I have I not known about this place before moving to the neighborhood? Yeah, it’s got a cheap name, and it looks like nothing special, but Chicago needs to know, this is how Chinese should be. As an east coast New Jersey native, a snob about pizza, bagels, and Chinese, I think I have the credentials to say, this place is pretty damn good. First of all, the serve Lo Mein, not Chow Mein, or whatever other dumb noodle product, and they do it right. The other usual suspects are perfectly done too: fried rice, chicken/beef w/broccoli, Kung po chicken, potstickers, egg rolls, chicken skewers. They’re very reasonably priced, and when I’m too fat and lazy to walk 1.5 blocks to pick it up, they are happy to deliver.

I must start out by sharing that I am not a big fan of Chinese food. I once was but I either overdid it or grew out of it. But one day my brother and sister-in-law decided to order from Chop Suey King and I fell back in love:). They give you big portions of tasty food. You are almost always eligible for free egg rolls — yes please! And also have other freebies based on the total of your order. My family and I stick to what we like. Which here would be: orange chicken, sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, egg rolls and crab rangoon. I’ve never been disappointed. And if we order with friends they’ve never been disappointed with their orders either. I actually had a friend from NY say if he lived in Chicago this would be his Chinese spot. I highly recommend based on my own experiences. I recently moved and tried local places without luck. I was beyond happy when I called and they said they would deliver to my new home!

Ordered the chicken fried rice and it was absolutely disgusting. I had to push chicken to the side and only eat the rice. Won’t be coming back. Only positive was the spring roll.

Excellent food. Big portions for reasonable prices and free, unannounced egg rolls in your to-go bag(same may be true for dine in, but I haven’t done that yet). The combo fried rice is a must every time.

Great fast delivery and food was excellent. I’ve been looking for a place nearby that has good chinese food rather than just average and this is my new go to place.

Chop Suey King has been my office’s regular Chinese take-out place — partly because our receptionist loves their food, and partly because they are fast, low-cost and filling. The lunch combination plates are packed with so much food that they are essentially 2-for-1 deals, since they are impossible to be consumed by one person. Stir frying tends to bring out such fragrant aromas from the food, but I’ve tried many things that I thought was just so-so. The beef seems to be from fattier parts, and they don’t have enough wok-fried flavor in the fried rice. However, I like that the vegetables are always fresh, and they cook it slightly firm. Oddly enough, despite trying everything from the Mongolian beef to the shrimp with lobster sauce, I think the best things are their egg rolls and wonton soup. The egg rolls are made with just the detectable amount of peanut butter nuttiness(secret ingredient), which is delicious! A large order of the wonton soup is more than enough for a meal — six large wontons(mostly pork), shredded BBQ pork, carrots, peapods, and cabbage and topped with fresh scallions. I’m usually ordering with the office out of convenience and have stuck with these two — they are truly excellent, especially for under $ 5!

Great food(Chinese places around the West Lawn area have really taken a bad turn), offer delivery, and good prices. My neighbors turned me on to this place and so glad they did! Have recommended it to everyone in my area. Love all the spicy options on the menu and they do not disappoint!

Worst Chicken fried rice I ever tasted! It was so dry and bland… chicken tasted like dark about to go bad meat! BLAH… It had absolutely no flavor what so ever. I also ordered Chicken with broccoli and it had zero flavor and broccoli was hard as a rock not steamed at all. Keeping the menu and writing on it DONOTORDERAGAIN!

Good food. HUGE portions for the money. I loved their shrimp and beef fried rice. That’s right, two in one. Delicious! CSK also gets extra points for being open on Monday and for having a menu available online(non-business site). I will definitely be trying other menu items in the future.

This is probably my favorite dingy aquarium Chinese restaurant ever. While it’s far from refined, they give you AMERICAN! sized portions at a killer value. The lunch special will feed regular sized mortals for at least two meals worth. Working near CSK is dangerous as I tend to find my palate visiting their version of the Orient once a week with no regrets. Their vegetable egg foo young is probably the best I’ve ever had especially the second day when the gravy has congealed into dancing cubes. The General Tsao’s chicken is more than adequately flavorful and their generically flavored egg rolls are always cooked perfectly.

AAhhh Ssoooo!!! Beware of the Ancient Chinese Bottled Water Trick! It works like this: Step 1. Tell customer that there are no cups for a simple glass of water. Step 2. Force customer to buy a soda or bottled water. Step 3. Repeat all day long. Works like a charm!!! I went there 3 times last summer. The first time, I walked out appalled by their chicanery. Second time, they got my order wrong, but it was delicious. Third time, they again got the order wrong, and the food was VOMITIOUS! Will not go back.

OK. I went here again. I grommed the menu. No one(except me) is going to throw this one out. The ‘lunch special’ is its«special combination plate». For $ 4.75 [$ 5.25 including tax], you can choose from 32 combos. Twelve are notated as «Hot & Spicy». The main item is accompanied by shrimp fried rice. You _may_substitute another kind of fried rice for an extra 75¢. You also get a 12-ounce can of soda(its choice), and an egg roll [it wasn’t just for me — but it still is not worth eating]. After 3:30 pm, the combos jump in price to $ 6.25. It now caters. You can order party trays for $ 20 — $ 60. There are _125_regular items on its menu. There are also three«family dinner» packages [2, 3, 4 people] for $ 16.25, $ 24.50, & $ 34.95. I cancelled the tip for ‘Good for Groups’ because there are only three booths here, holding four persons each. Carry it out, or have it delivered. It’s on Grubhub, and it also takes direct phone calls(and faxes [@ 773−725−5050]). It has a television which receives terrestrial digital signals only. The food here tastes good. I wonder how it manages to maintain such quality care considering all these items it offers.

I special ordered sesame tofu three times from here – always takeout. The first two times were great, which is why I went back. The third time the tofu had weird gooey things, and I actually found a piece of sesame chicken in there as well. I am a vegetarian, and while not a hyper sensative one, found it a bit gross to find chicken in the food – like, what else ended up there? I haven’t been back since, though this could have just been an off day – try it out, if you want =) My friends liked it enough.
