Collin has helped me with chronic vertigo using Chinese herbal medicine. I first started seeing him about 9 months ago, and at that time had had trouble with vertigo several times. Previous bouts had been cured by chiropractic treatment and massage, but they were not helping this time. I was extremely skeptical that the herbal medicine would work, but willing to try. Collin was very professional, careful and gentle, and the treatment really worked. The treatment is non-​invasive and easy to follow, and I am very grateful for the relief it has given me.

I feel so lucky I found Colin! Using herbs he is helping to cure some eczema skin issues I have on my hip for a really long time. He’s a totally professional and at the same time totally approachable guy. I woke up Saturday morning with excruciating pain in my right shoulder. After years or power lifting and not enough rest/​treatment, I couldn’t take it anymore.

So far I’ve had three sessions with him and after much acupuncture, cupping and guasha, my shoulder mobility is finally better and I no longer have that awful pinch in my rhomboid.

I am an active person who values my health and ability to participate in active sports such as running, and triathlons. As a result of a martial arts injury my knee was not healing well and the discomfort was lingering for quite a while, which prevented me from enjoying running and participating in triathlons. The pain was bad enough that I had difficulty going up and down stairs and standing up out of my chair. I even had an MRI done and the result identified some bone spurs that had developed in my knee. I did not want to try surgery so I consulted Collin to determine what could be done.
Collin was very thorough in wanting to understand the circumstances of my injury. His evaluation and suggested approach to the problem seemed clear and I was anxious to see results. He attacked the situation with acupuncture, herbs, and heat. Within a few weeks I began to feel an improvement in mobility with less pain using the stairs. Another couple weeks after that I was able to go for very short and easy jogs. Now, about 3 months later I am running 3+ miles at a time multiple times a week, and riding my bike with no side effects in my knee. After dealing with the pain and discomfort for more than 6 months before seeing Collin, I am very pleased and ecstatic that I am now able to pursue my active lifestyle again.

I went to Collin for 2.5 years and would still see him regularly if I still lived in Chicago. (Though I still make the occasional appointment even when I’m just in town visiting and he recently fixed a sinus infection for me.)
In addition to alleviating almost all of a very complicated skin issue that no other doctor, Western or otherwise, had been able to better for over 12 years, he also helped me pave the way to stop smoking for good, improve my diet and exercise, and empower me to lead a better life.

I have suffered from chronic sinusitis, depression, and anxiety ever since I can remember. I’ve received a variety of treatment and care types, with mixed and never fully satisfactory results. Through my care with Collin, I have experienced the greatest, most consistent, and long-​lasting relief from the pains and stressors I’d come to think I would need to «live with» forever. It is remarkable to me the impact one session has had on permanently reducing my everyday anxiety levels — my interpersonal relationships improved, I experienced greater self-​confidence, and I was better able to cope with external stressors that came my way only days later.
Some logistical specifics:
— Scheduling with Collin is always great and easy — he has been very accommodating for my weird schedule.
— The location is right off the blue line a few blocks. His space is very comfortable. There is a door person, so you’ll have to either remember Collin’s floor or practice name to get in (though, when I didn’t remember either the first time, they were very forgiving!)
— Collin is wonderfully communicative and I have had the option to connect with him via text and email to check in on my care and general questions.
— Collin will work with you financially, if you need. Just be open about what your capacity is and you can go from there.
— He uses acupuncture, herbs, and other care methods (including conversation) that work together very well.
Most importantly to note, I think, is the type of care that Collin gives that is very different from most acupuncture experiences I’ve had — Collin is super knowledgeable about what he does. He will share a lot of information and technical stuff with you — which I really really like. While I may not know every term or concept he relates to me, he is always willing to answer questions and I find that I start to recognize terms and learn more about the care methods and process (and myself!!!) with every session. In other acupuncture and herb care situations, I’ve felt very much like I spew my guts about what is going on with me, and I receive a treatment that isn’t fully explained to me, so I can’t build on it easily. I am super comfortable asking questions, so the obstacle in those instances is usually that the care environment is more like a spa (e.g. relax and no talking!) and less like healthcare. With acupuncture, I’m looking for healthcare, not a spa experience — Collin provides excellent healthcare (but, with spa-​like comfort, no doubt!).
And, for folks that do community acupuncture — that is totally rad. I do it, too. But, Collin is willing to work with you financially, and — for me (so, you know, maybe not for you) — I experience a distinct difference between personal and community acupuncture. There is something to be said for one person focusing their energy and care on only you for an hour — it makes a difference for me in my care. I think part of that may be that I feel more relaxed and open in the one-​on-​one, whereas having to whisper to a practitioner in a room full of strangers in recliners doesn’t put me too at ease. Collin made his excellent care accessible to me and, for that and how he has markedly improved my wellbeing, I am forever grateful.
