Have lived down the street from here for 15 years, always loved their gyros. Got some carry-out today. WTH??? What have they done to their gyros sauce??? It’s suppose to be yogurt & herbs, I have no clue what this was, other than HORRIBLE! Time to go across the street… to bad…

This place has another location in the Skokie area(West of Edens) — you typically get to see some of the Skokie’s/Niles’ finest there, grubbing during lunch. At this location, it is more of a cab driving crowd. The menu offers sandwiches(such as gyros sandwiches, chicken kabob, hamburgers, etc.), whole-roasted chicken, ribs, salads, Vienna Beef dogs(chili, jumbo, Polish, etc.), Italian Beef, Italian sausages, and even desserts. I thought their gyros were pretty solid(kind of salty, well-cooked, generous with the tzatziki sauce); they have a small shared lot with the other businesses in the plaza, and it’s right off of Cicero(Skokie Blvd turns into Cicero). The service is great, efficient, and a lot of people do carry-outs. +salty gyros +generous tzatziki sauce

Customer service is friendly but the food isn’t good at all. Hot dogs are old and recooked. Great people, terrible food.

My son and I just stopped here for a late lunch. Great menu, excellent prices, and they made free garlic bread for my son.

Came here expecting to get some great fast food, but what we got was tired old reheated crap. We ordered the half Greek chicken and the Gyros plate and a side order of fries. Let’s start with the Gyros the meat tasted sour like it was soaking in lemon juice and the cheap frozen fries were cold and inedible. The chicken which was supposed to be Greek but it was just dried out grilled chicken with some nasty lemon juice/sauce poured over the top of it, the bread that came with it was soggy and gross and the roasted potatoes tasted like reheated day old shit. The only redeeming quality of this meal is that oh wait there were no redeeming qualities it just sucked.

New to the neighborhood snd looking for our go to spot we were disappointed that although the food was ok the manager could not have cared less that we killed a roach on the wall right next to where we were sitting. We won’t go back there or to the sister store West of Edens.

We stopped here for an early dinner on our way out of town on a Thursday afternoon, and were able to deftly grab the last parking spot in the front lot. Yay! Note: despite the«carry-outs» at the end of the name, there’s plenty of seating inside. Very old-world fast food Greek; the décor is a bit dated(the photo of the 102-year-old posing with Rahm Emanuel is pretty fun), but the food is everything I’d hoped for: saucy, tasty, Greek. I had the chicken kabob platter and the chicken was CRAZY delicious. Every bite was perfectly seasoned and juicy. And as far as I’m concerned, when in Greece, eat the baklava. So I did. And I liked it.

Good food, decent value, and always a solid choice. I’ve been going for years and always come back for more. I’ve never had a bad experience there. It’s not fancy food but it’s delicious and well worth the money! My default choice for take out.

Chicago is full of Greek owned fast food restaurants and this might be my favorite of them all. I live about 10 minutes away and there’s plenty of fast food options, between home and East of Edens, but I always skip the closer options and go to East of Edens. This isn’t your staple burger and hot dog fast food joint. You come here for their chicken special, which is a great deal and a damn good meal as well. You come here for the gyros, one of the best in the city. You come here for fast food that is a little«nicer» than your usual fast food spots. It’s the type of place that has cops from multiple CPD districts and suburban cops coming to for lunch and dinner. That is always a great sign of consistent quality food at a good value.

Order chicken special. Love their food, and the amount of the food that you get for the price is a great deal.

Oh yes. I’m happy to say that East of Eden STILL has the best Greek chicken! For $ 12, you’ll get an entire chicken, rice, potato, soup/salad/or coleslaw and garlic bread. It’s a steal. And delicious The spinach/feta pie and chicken pita are also some of my favorites here. Walk down memory lane every time I come back here. Love this place!

If you live on the North Shore, there is basically nothing better on your drive to the city on a Saturday night than stopping at East of Edens. It’s just a delightful little fast food joint. Now, I see a lot of comments like, «the chicken breast was dry!» and«the fried shrimp were eh». But this is a GREEKFASTFOOD place, why are you getting a plain chicken breast? Stick to the stuff this place does well, and you won’t be disappointed. I am basically obsessed with the spinach and cheese pie. It’s flaky, and greasy, and enormous. It’s a full dinner for a smaller appetite. The gyro plate is also amazing. So much meat! It seems to be sliced a tiny bit thicker than the traditional gyro, which really helps with the flavor. It’s juicy! Actually, those two things are all I’ve had. And a greek salad! Great greek salad. But they’re both DELICIOUS, and a great representation of the place. I will never, ever try the more traditional american stuff, because, WHY. But I feel pretty sure that the rest of the more Greek stuff is going to be amazing, so I guess eventually I’ll break away from my favorite and try something else. Also, please make sure to read all the stuff about Harry, who recently died. You can’t NOT like a place who loves their 100 yr old + employee as much as this place did. You just can’t! Also, great patio.

I picked up some carryout tonight. We had the Greek style chicken that comes with broasted taters and rice. I also got a small Greek salad that Mom and I split. The portions were plentiful, in fact Mom and I shared one chicken meal and shared the small salad and there was still plenty of salad left. The food was pretty good but not great. The rice was fairly average, but the chicken had a nice flavor and the taters were taters. The salad was refreshing. Aside from the usual feta cheese, olives, etc, they also put in one dolmates which was kinda cool. I could live on Greek olives. Wish there had been a few more. We seem to stop here every few years and I always make a mental note to stop again and then I forget about it. This time for sure!!!

Ehh. I tried to really like this place and it’s just dissapoints time and time again. I’ve ordered food here twice and picked it up since it’s close to work. I usually don’t like to venture out and try«new things» so I stick with ordering the Chicken breast on a pita. And I phone in my order twice and both times I’ve gone I’ve yet still had to wait additional time once I am there for it to be done. Kinda defeats the purpose of callin my order in ahead of time. frankly the people on the phone aren’t very friendly either . ANYWAY. the Chicken breast on a pita does not wow me. It’s ok a bit dry and bland and usually a lil too char-broiled for me. For being a greek place I expected something a lot more juicy! and flavorful. I am on a sour note with this place since I’ve ordered not that long ago and got my order deliver and it was completely wrong after waiting an hour to get here they expected to me wait an additonal order to get my food correct… Not a happy camper! Really not sure if I say i’ll never eat here again but it will be a while before I think about it again!
