Sadly closed, as of the end of business on Sunday, November 30th. Goodbye, I really will miss you, and sorry I hadn’t dropped by in a while. Dunno if I even want to bother with the Deuces + Diamond Wrigleyville location(and since it’s in douchey Wrigleyville, which I try to avoid as much as possible), but at least the one in Evanston will still be open.

I was hungry after walking around in Oz Park and thought that a hamburger sounded good, so I stopped in. I ordered a double cheeseburger with a small fries. The fries were seasoned to perfection and the perfect blend of crispy and soft; a small was PLENTIFUL, too. The burger was the very BEST I’ve had in a long time! I won’t mind making the drive from Edgewater on occasion for a burger fix from now on. YUM!!!

After a few hours at the zoo, I did a Unilocal search for burgers and was really impressed with the reviews of this place. Sadly, the burgers didn’t live up to the hype. Someone said these were the best burgers in Chicago, and it makes me wonder how many burgers they’ve had in Chicago… because they weren’t great by any means. Like someone else said, they are similar to Culver’s…except double the price. The meat comes nowhere close to being as good or fresh as Culver’s. The bun is a litle better, but I don’t go to a burger place for the bun, I go to a burger place for the burger. It’s decent in a pinch, but I definitely won’t be back.

Yes, Edzo’s burgers are similar to Culver’s. And that’s fine by me. The patties are a bit on the dry side, but that’s because of the way they’re cooked. I am curious if the upgraded beef would make a noticeable difference. Nthing the garlic fries suggestion. Amazing. Finished it off with a Nutella shake, which was as someone else described, a good balance and not too overwhelming. If you want an upgraded Culver’s burger and excellent fries and shakes, go to Edzo’s.

I am always excited to try a burger place on my seemingly never ending list. I like this place. The atmosphere is laid back and the customer service is great. They offer a lot of really cool specialty burgers and fries. I just tried a single cheeseburger and it was good. I also ordered a root beer float and I love that they bring it out to you in the shaker with the bottle of Goose Island root beer on the side. My brother got the bacon burger and he said that the bacon was crisp and delicious. It really isn’t that badly priced for what you get.

Handsdown best burger in Chicago!!! The flavors are very intense and there’s nothing bad on the menu! Every item is better than the next. They also serve«Merkts» as their cheddar cheese option. Any place that serves Merkts knows what they are doing. I’ve been to both Lincoln Park and Evanston locations and they are both equally amazing seeing as how they are owner by the same guy. Try garlic butter fries are to die for, I really want to try the lobster fries next time. WARNING: you will leave here happily in a food coma.

I’m so glad I finally got to try this place! Thanks to my fellow Unilocaler, Triphena W. I now know the goodness that is the inside out grilled cheese on white. Woohoo! Since I can’t have too much cheese in one sitting, even just trying the couple bites of it was wonderful. Too bad I’m lactose intolerant… I can’t handle that much savory in one sitting tho, so I think the amount I had was perfect. Also had the spicy sconnie burger, which comes with grilled onions, chipotle ketchup, merkts with bacon and jalapeños. This was delicious as well. I actually wish it was a little spicier, but I guess if I’m going to eat all this cheese and stuff, I should try to give my stomach a break. You can’t have burgers without its partner in crime: FRENCHFRIES! Got to try the parmesan truffle fries and the garlic parsley fries. I love variety and I can’t choose which one I like better. So ordering both was probably the best idea ever.

The burgers are like Culver’s burgers, greasy and fried in butter(they may not be, but they taste like it). You basically don’t taste the meat. Any burger where you don’t taste the meat isn’t a good burger, and shouldn’t be on top 10 burger lists for Chicago. I want to taste the beef. Not the grease or butter. You should also. That is the essence of a hamburger. A good burger can be eaten straight up if need be. Its not difficult guys. This is not rocket science. Figure it out. The fries were equally unimpressive. I do like that they had tons of options for the fries also, from Cheddar toppings to Lobster, but if the french fry is average at best, it doesn’t matter what you top it with. Thanks but no thanks. I’ll go elsewhere.

Edzo’s burger looks the part, but falls slightly short on pure taste. It’s a no frills shop, counter-style, burgers grilled in plain sight while you order. The patties are smashed, just like I like it. The burger options are fairly straightforward, with available additives like cheese, bacon, and yes, the incomparable fried egg. Fries options, which I did not order, get a little more off the wall. Stuff like lobster fries do exist here. There’s also a 50’s diner-esque milkshake option. According to Unilocal, both the fries and shake bring all the boys to Edzo’s yard. That said, I came for the burger, straight-up. No, I couldn’t resist the fried egg. The burger is greasy style, reminding me of my college runs to Dirty Martin’s in Austin. The flat patty is a plus. I was hoping for some awesome Smashburger action, but the patty came off slightly dry and slightly bland, a disappointing result given my expectation. The rest of the burger was really good. Solid bun, great egg and cheese, and tableside spicy ketchup optionality.

Three of us went to Edzo’s for a manager power lunch. Having only eaten at the original Edzo’s, and with Xoco Wicker Park coming soon, I was curious to see the if the high quality and consistency carried over to the second Edzo’s. I was very impressed! The man running the burger shop was not Eddie Larkin, but he was on point, personable, warm and a great communicator. I went with an original patty Spicy Sconnie: the meat blanketed in Merkt’s cheese, chile and caramelized onions. I also got a side of buffalo fries and a salted caramel milkshake. My friend said he wished the burger was a little bigger: he got a grass-fed single. It’s great to see the sustainable meat option for a few dollars more. Later on that night, my friend reported his digestion continued until 8:30PM(sounds about right for me too). The spirit and ambience of the original Edzo’s lives in the Lincoln Park space: the colors, art and antique sodapop and burger pieces would not be out of place in Edzo’s Evanston. The quality and consistency were the same, with a colorful personality at the helm. Edzo’s got the sequel thing right!

Best Patty Melt I EVERHAD! The rye bread although cooked to an almost midnight shade of darkness was DE-FKN-LICIOUS! In my travels I have had patty melts from various places across America and this is the best. They are not haters of you making it your way. Just ask. This is the first place I’ve seen with Barge’s Red Cream Soda in their fountain drinks. I highly recommend and am GLAD that we ate here.

We are old ladies, me and my girlfriends. Of course we don’t look or feel old but we’re old enough to appreciate the fun décor of Edzo’s. Old School pop machine doors? Clara Peller plate? Perfect. And of course old enough to appreciate basic burgers. Don’t get me wrong, I love the influx of designer burgers, but a good patty and basic toppings can be just as good. Besides, Edzo’s offers lobster fries, and that’s a huge win. The LP location doesn’t have the char-grilled option of burgers though and that was a little disappointing. The seating is much more limited than Evanston’s location but my little group managed. Service is so friendly. And each time they recited our order it was with such fanfare that it made us feel like our burger is the best one in the universe. Such enthusiasm! I opted for a single patty with merkt’s cheese and bacon. Delicious. Made to order so there’s a short wait. The Lobster Fries were also delicious. Served with a lemon aioli and pieces of lobster, again, a huge win. Of course I want more lobster(who wouldn’t?) but I love that I can elevate my french fry experience here. I got to try my friend’s Nutella Shake. So creamy and a nice Nutella flavor, doesn’t go overboard at all.

Solid. The milkshake was the main highlight – I got the Hot Fudge and my wife tried the Salty Caramel, and these are big, thick shakes with a lot of flavor. For my list of shakes alone, this is probably one of my top three in the city(Elly’s and Bite Café still lead the pack with DMK close behind… Edzo and DMK were very close). Love the prices, the ambiance and the service of the Lincoln Park location, and the toppings/condiments were great with my «plain» burger. Also, the fries were excellent, and a large fry order is enough for two peeps. Strangely, the actual meat patty was the only minor complaint I had… this wasn’t as tasty as I was expecting, but then again I didn’t get an upgrade on patty with my dinner. When I go back for another milkshake I will try a different patty to see if my opinion changes! Also, I hope that eventually these guys stay open later… I always seem to want a milkshake at 9 or 10PM after going somewhere else for dinner, and Edzo’s closes early for me. Maybe in the spring they will stay open a little longer?

I can tell you it’s been a long time since I’ve been in a high-school hangout. While Edzo’s is strategically placed near DePaul University, it’s also not that far from Lincoln Park High School. A couple of us old geezers dropped in here for lunch when it was packed with youngsters from that institution. The physical space is pretty cramped, and the décor not what you’d call cohesive, but then it’s just a burger joint. And I claim to come for the food and the people. On those points, it excels. You can sit-down at either the funny munchkin bar stools or one of two large tables.(Try to get the formica one as the wooden was kinda sticky.)Then it’s that hybrid deal where you place your order and pay. And the bring it to you. The guys who work here are super friendly and enthusiastic. The burgers are those flat and wide griddle type which don’t require a call for rare to well-done. It’s just done. Very similar to Five Guys or Steak and Shake. All based on a ¼ pound burger(which far excels You-Know-Who’s of the same name,) and like Wendy’s, your choices are double/single/triple. We got a couple of doubles with everything, and shared a large order of fries. With bottomless sodas, about $ 19.00. There is also a handy option to upgrade your beef patty to the Slagel Family Farm brand. That will add $ 4.00 to your bill. The burger, fries, cheese and bun, along with a generous bed of onions was the best of that type I’ve had. I told the cook it reminded me of my mom’s great pan-fired burgers from the 60’s. They have a unique taste smell, which lingers nicely, too on your fingers as you drive home. The fries were some of the best I’ve had, too. They had a coarse salt and were very crispy. This place distinguished itself, too, with a large choice of fries such as truffle and lobster fries. Those are about $ 4 – 5.00 per order. The value here is good. And at prices similar to the fast food joints, the choice is a no-brainer. The service is fast. The cooks are smiley. And as retro griddle burgers go, Edzo’s really shines. Just like their buns.

I am not that person that has goals like going on a worldwide burger tour. Sure, I like burgers, but I usually limit my consumption to one a month. This burger indulgence was planned days in advance. We knew we would be hung over and we knew we had a long drive back to KC. What better day to go junk food cra cra on a burger, fries and a shake? The pics on Unilocal made me realize that this would be the perfect place to eat a burger. I like my burgers greasy and pressed flat, with a thin doughy bun which has crispy edges from a flat top grill. That is exactly what I received. I ordered a single, grass fed burger with cheese and bacon. We split the garlic fries, which are fried and tossed in melted butter and chopped garlic. Can I just say, the fries were beyond words, completely amazing and temporarily made me forget I even had a burger? It was hard to believe the burger could stand up to the amaze-ball fries, but it did-it was perfection… The burger I always crave! We were stuffed and satisfied, but that did not stop us from ordering a salted caramel and a chocolate shake. I was floored when the owner brought over 4 cups and said he made to much and wanted to give us extra. It was a come to Jesus moment when I took a sip of the salted caramel shake. The chocolate paled in comparison, but who cares? We had 2 salted caramel shakes!!! We drove off knowing that this was our first and last meal of the day. Worth it.

This review is based on the food vendor at Lollapalooza. I got a bacon cheeseburger and parmesan fries. I know it was Lolla and food there is premium, but $ 7 for fries?! In any case, the cheeseburger was delicious! They have some kind of special sauce that makes it so tasty! The parmesan fries were amazing. I’ve never tried this mix before and I would love to try it again!

If only I could plop my ass down at the counter everyday and order myself up a juicy burger, fries, and shake from Edzos. Tried an original burger, garlic fries, and horchata milkshake and was pretty impressed with everything and the superb quality. Fun place to go with your friends and also family friendly as well! Tips: burgers don’t come with tomato and lettuce unless you ask and if you sit at the counter, the milkshake dewd will give you the leftovers of your milkshake order, cha ching!

Edzo’s makes a solid burger! I’ve been wanting to try out the burgers for a while, but didn’t wanna make the trek all the way out to Evanston — so glad they opened up in Lincoln Park! It’s pretty small inside, but there’s a couple communal tables or bar stools for those who wanna dine in. When it comes to the burgers, there are three sizes to choose from(single, double, or triple patties) with a ton of toppings including bacon, sauteed mushrooms and fried eggs. I opted for a burger with three patties with«everything» which includes ketchup, mustard, pickles and onions. SOGOOD — the patties are thin, but don’t be fooled; they’re oh so satisfying, moist and juicy on the inside along with the crispy charred edges and a soft bun, it makes for a great combination. I couldn’t resist and ordered garlic fries and a nutella milkshake too and both were amazing. The milkshake was so thick and chocolatey — exactly what I needed on such a hot day. Can’t wait to try the other flavors! The garlic fries were just as good; hot and crispy yet soft on the inside with a pungent kick from the garlic. The Evanston location also offers char burgers which are a thicker patty in addition to the thinner patties. Hopefully they sell them in the near future or I *might* have to make that trip to the north shore. Overall, the food is frekin’ delicious and I defs recommend trying Edzo’s out!

I think it’s a good thing that Edzo’s closes so early(8pm). Otherwise my diet would consist of a lot more cheeseburgers than it should! Chicago is in love with its gargantuan burgers, and I’m still a fan of them too — giant meat patties from places like Kuma’s or Lockdown are juicy, complex, and coma inducing. Edzo’s is from the school of keeping them thin and simple, but in simplicity lies quality. This place, while missing the long lines and loud music, easily rivals any burger in the city. Every ingredient tastes fresh, and I don’t feel like a hot mess afterwards. They’re also known for their large variety of fries, and as a cheese fry fan I was happy to see that. We got the chili cheese fries, which was deliciously cheesy and provided a nice messy complement to my burger. I really like Edzo’s not just for their food, but for how they strive to look divey in a not-so-divey area of the city. The old school lit-up menu, the giant Vienna sign that they probably bought from a closing down dog shop from the 70s. It’s a great little place, and I can’t wait to return.

FINALLY Edzo’s opens a location that is more convenient! Over the years my sister would always be telling me about how Edzo’s have the BEST milkshakes cause they are nice and thick, their fries have Elite status in her book, and their Grilled Cheese is the best she’s ever eaten. So over the years I never had an opportunity arise that had me going anywhere near Evanston during the early hours of the day. Edzo’s Burger shop was becoming this mythical restaurant that i never thought I would get an opportunity to try… But once I heard that they were opening in Lincoln Park I marked my calendar. So this was quite a special event for me and Edzo’s…all the«fairy tales» I heard about your restaurant became reality. My sister and I ordered the Grilled Cheese, single patty burger with bacon and a fried egg, the truffle fries, Angry fries, and a milkshake. The grilled cheese was the superstar of the meal. It’s everything you would want in a grilled cheese sandwich. Gooey, cheesy, and delicious! It ain’t easy being cheesy baby… it’s that good. The thing I loved about Edzo’s grilled cheese was how they melt cheese on the outside of the sandwich!!! Geniuses! The fries were spot on as my sister told me. I loved the angry fries with their hot giardiniera and hot sauce that tasted similar to Frank’s red hot sauce. Even though the fries were doused in sauce, they didn’t get soggy. MMMmmmm… The burgers were not bad either. I would recommend getting two patties if you’re just going to get a burger though because the patties aren’t huge. Last but not least, the milkshake was really good and thick. Edzo’s is the PERFECT place to get a great burger or grilled cheese, fries, and a shake. Clean establishment with limited seating so get there and claim your territory. A couple of large tables that are communal. I enjoyed this because it was funny to see all the people staring at our food and licking their lips just waiting to get theirs… and talking about the food is always fun.
