I work in the Hancock and have stopped in at lunch wanting a treat and both times I have walked out unhappy. The staff here is habitually rude and act like they’re doing you a favor by letting you shop. To ask a business professional to set their drink(with a lid) on the counter while looking at a stand of candy is ridiculous. They also don’t accept credit cards here which in my opinion is a standard of doing business in the area for this kind of shop. I wouldn’t go back again or recommend this place when there are so many options in close proximity. For example, Sacred Grounds next door in Water Tower Place is 1,000 times better than this snooty overpriced mess.

Are people that work in candy stores suppose to be happy? I dont know if I worked around happy stuff all day I think I would be. I have gone in here several times in the past month and each and every time its just a dry experience. No greeting when I walked in. Its such a cute place and it has the most unique items. Of course its expensive its in the John Hancock. The candy is simply delicious but I guess just looking for a little more umpfh! for a candy store.

Gasp– no reviews for Elephants Etc? Guess that just means another first to review for me! :) Sometimes I just need the taste of something sweet… actually, who am I kidding? I ALWAYS want the taste of something sweet. And when I’m in the gold coast area I turn to Elephants Etc(located inside the John Hancock building) for my candy needs! Elephants Etc is your typical candy store, although more expensive than most. I’m a fan because all of the candy is packaged individually, which keeps candy fanatics like me from going overboard. I’ve been know to go a little crazy on the swedish fish, which always results in a tummy ache! And candy isn’t all they’ve got here(hence the Etc in the name)…lots of Chicago knick knacks if you’re looking to buy someone a Chicago inspired gift. Not worth running over, but check it out next time you’re in the area.
