Epic Burger

This has become my go to spot for a burger in river north when I’m pressed for time and not interested in spending a ton. The employees are friendly, quick, and efficient. The burgers are great, sometimes a little greasy. I like that it’s a «build your own» set up instead of having to tell them what I don’t want on my burger.

I’ve tried most things from here, everything’s pretty good. My favorites are the turkey and portobello burgers. Fries are delicious when you don’t get stuck with all the tiny end pieces. Epic sauce is good. Definitely recommend if you want a quick meal. Not the best burgers ever, but better than normal fast food places.

I used to live at the University Center on State street and would frequent this place often as a student. It quickly became my favorite burger place in the city — now I live in river north and the Clark street location is great. I love the quality ingredients — organic eggs and nitrate free bacon is amazing. The burgers are cooked to order and taste awesome. Great options for toppings. They have a good chicken sandwich and fries too.

The food is good for the most part, my biggest complaint is that the rewards program is really not a rewards program. You can’t check the status of your card. Other restaurants have an app or a way to check your balance online. Also I have multiple rewards cards and they can’t be combined. Again… annoying. Still decent burgers…

Great… errr epic! This is a no frills place to grab a quick and delicious burger. They do offering interesting toppings like avocado, eggs and bacon which are all brilliantly yummy on your choice of bun or no bun. The cashiers do rush through the options so try to keep up with them. Ha! The burgers get delivered to your table, hot. We had to ‘slow our roll’ as we wanted to devour them. I got the double epic burger with bleu cheese and bacon (classic). Good stuff! Enjoy!

Stopped in for quick burger around 1pm today. Order taker was rushed, spoke way too fast and I felt rushed. It was 1pm and no line. Decided to eat at the counter. My chocolate malt was awesome, cheddar cheeseburger w/​cooked onion on whole wheat bun was underwhelming with a side of warm at best fries. Rate it 3 stars only because I would have given it a 2-​star had the malt not been so good. Next time I’ll skip the food.

I would agree with some of the other reveiws that this location is not the best run. There was no order-​taker for about 5 minutes when I walked in at 8pm. They make everything fresh, but the problem is that I had to wait another 10 minutes when they screwed up the first order. Service really is not the best here. Wi-​fi is solid and the food is good quality, so 3 stars for you…

I had stopped in this restaurant at 2:12pm so this place was not busy at all so I don’t know what Adriana, order taker’s problem. As soon as she walked up to the register, she had such an attitude. I had ordered a fountain drink, chicken sandwich and fries. NO ATTITUDE. Again, I don’t know what her issue was.
I’m a customer and a Concierge at a near by hotel. I recommend to guests where to go for a place to dine… just saying.
I went and found a table and started to relax. While waiting for the food, you can hear the full conversation with the kitchen staff. One cook yelled, «I’m telling a fucking story to shut up». I was about 25 ft away… I also observed items being thrown in the air to each other.
The food was brought to me 7 minutes later (per the receipt that came with the order). The food runner was pleasant. The food itself is great — no complaints.
As I’m leaving, another counter person was taking over and she was very pleasant to new customers as taking an order.
Go for the food and not customer service.

This is a great alternative to the crappy fast food joints out there. Fresh ingredients and fully customizable. Any time I’m in the neighborhood I stop in if open.

It’s my fault I’m this dissatisfied because even though the food is totally underwhelming I keep coming back. It’s near my office! It’s raining! Maybe I’ll try something else and give them one more shot! Every time, I’m disappointed by something else. From getting a chicken patty that is literally not even large enough to cover the bun to standing water/​juice that soaks the bun in my to-​go carton, I am constantly underwhelmed by this place.
On top of that, the service is terribly slow and no one has responded to my corporate complaints on their website about bad food. So many other options are around, there’s no reason to settle. You’re worth more than a bland burger.

I don’t know how I just discovered this place, after getting lunch at Lyfe Kitchen next door more times than I can count. The menu is simple, which makes it easy to order. I’m allergic to gluten and all the burger options are gluten free (except the buns of course). The bun-​less option works great for me, but note that although that option has a picture of lettuce on the menu, you have to ask for lettuce or you won’t get any.
I recommend adding an over easy egg and bacon for added flavor and feeling of healthy paleo indulgence. I prefer the beef to the turkey patty because the latter crumbles too easily, which is especially annoying when eating with a fork and knife, which I do.
VERY POPULAR for lunch. During the rush, the tables are packed and 15 – 20 people are waiting for to-​go orders. Dinnertime is way less crazy.

Extremely juicy (or greasy, depending on how you look at it) burger that really hits your craving right in the gut. In my mind, there’s not much differentiating it from the Five Guys cheeseburger, so rest easy knowing it’s a solid hunk of food even if it won’t blow your mind. The fries were extremely disappointing, however; they lack any real kind of seasoning and were kinda soggy.
Overall, it’s a decent joint to hit for a nap-​inducing meal, but you can probably get similar quality for cheaper at other places.

My family and I go to the location in Old Orchard sometimes when we’re at the mall, and this one is near my office. I was in the mood for a turkey burger today, and Epic Burger has one of the best. It is fresh and juicy and wih my preference of lettuce, tomato, havarti cheese and the bun, with just a touch of mayo, it’s delicious.
The burgers are good; along the lines of Five Guys, and as with all of the other upscale burger joints we have, the thing to remember is the food here is fresh and not frozen, and there are no hormones. Much better for you than McDonald’s, which I don’t do!
Fries and shakes are good, too. They are a bit pricey, but it is worth a try if you’re in the area. I just found out that if I show the ticket from my parking garage, I can get a 10% discount! That definitely works.
Service here is always prompt, and you can dine in or take it to go. I’ve done both.

Burger was really good quality but nothing too exciting. I do like that you can get any of the shakes as skinny, peanut butter was delicious!

Never have I ever encountered a more juicy, flavorful turkey burger than those at Epic. A year ago, it was nearly impossible for me to decide between the beef or the turkey burger, but those days have long since past. Don’t get me wrong, their beef burgers are fantastic as well. Both have that perfectly seasoned, flat top sear. The staff is well trained on the specifics, and there are a lot. You can get dizzy from answering their questions, but when they bring you your burger, you realize they were customizing it just for you, and that it’s a work of art. The hand cut fries bring everything together. Their humanely raised, no hormone, never frozen policy makes it almost guilt free.

Good burgers a couple of notches up from the regular chain á la
burger king or mcdonalds burgers.
Fresh beef pattys grilled with nice condiments and your choice of sauce.
Crispy fries and awesome milkshakes.
Worth a try if your passing by!
