Essentia Mattress

The sales staff was very helpful, attentive and well-​informed. I mentioned that we needed to have the mattress delivered by a certain date, and Jacqueline put in a note to facilitate the matter. The people at Essentia took care of us like we were family. Brava, Jacqueline, for the exceptional service, communication, and ease of handling our bed order. Note to stomach sleepers: I’m one too and find the Grateful Bed ideal. No stinkiness at all and perfectly comfortable. Yes, Essentia’s more expensive than other mattresses, but think about the 8 hours of every day you’re face-​to-​face with your mattress. Even delivery was hassle-​free. I’d unequivocally recommend Essentia. Go in, lie down on them all. This is a beautifully run business.

We got an Essentia mattress after suffering from back problems with our old matress. We wanted to get a memory foam mattress but found that they were all toxic, as you can tell from all the other reviews here. The Essentia was the most comfortable non-​toxic mattress we could find. It is great if you prefer a firm matress, but I think they also had softer ones. Customer service is great and, since the salespeople at the store do not earn commission, they are not as pushy but stil believe in the product they sell. It may be a bit pricey, but it’s worth it just to know you are not sleeping on toxic chemicals.
We have had the Tatami mattress for about 4 months and it is still very comfortable. However, the mattress is not comfortable if you sleep on your stomach, so if you are a stomach sleeper, you would need to change your sleeping position.

I cannot say enough nice things about Essentia and Thomas.
After dealing with the off-​gassing of 2 other foam mattresses, and the crooked sales staff of another popular bed store in town I was tired and hopeless that I would never sleep again.
After doing some research I found Essentia and was excited to see they were in Chicago. The store was clean and there was no pressure on us to buy. In fact, Thomas recommended we come back tomorrow and try the bed again. He was so wonderful to work with and really took care to make sure he found us the proper bed for our bodies.
When our bed arrived ahead of schedule we were so pumped and it was everything we dreamed of. No toxic smells and very comfy!

I was so happy when the Chicago store opened. Our first Essentia mattress was ordered through New Jersey. We now have 5 Essentia mattresses and not only get wonderful nights of sleep but are comforted by the fact that our mattresses are free from chemicals and they don’t smell bad. The Temperpedic we bought had to be returned after 2 weeks of having had all the windows open and my husband and i both having splitting headaches from the chemical smell. Before that we had 3 Sleep Number beds at one time. Two of them were in guest rooms and weren’t used too often. All of them had to be replaced before 10 years were up because the air «lung» collapsed and they were unusable. We’re small people; this shouldn’t have happened. And, we were expected to pay for the repairs. I researched beds for one solid week before deciding on Essentia. It was a tremendous education. There was no doubt after the first day of learning of the hazards of regular mattresses; even the top brands, that I’d be purchasing natural mattresses for my family. Oddly. none of the other «green» mattresses had anything about comfort in their advertising. Most were reviewed poorly for comfort and there were complaints about some of them having an odor. It seemed clear that Essentia was probably the best mattress you could buy. I only wished that I could try one out. I bought our first one on faith and was thrilled after our first night of sound, restful sleep in the most comfy bed ever. I love, love love, my bed. It’s quiet, it’s completely resistant to bugs or mites, it keeps it’s shape/​molds to you, no odor and it’s supposed to last a very long time. First and foremost, it’s so comfortable. in the end that’s probably what we’re all looking for.

After 3 months of purchase, my Tempur Cloud still had not stopped out-​gassing. Waking up feeling out of my mind and stressed out, I started researching for a non-​toxic bed. Most of the organic beds available are very expensive, and not nearly as comfortable as Tempur Cloud. Coming across Essentia, I was relieved to see a company that makes natural mattresses that felt just as comfortable as Tempur Cloud but not nearly as smelly! After all the struggle, I’m finally getting a good night sleep. Thomas was wonderful. He helped me find the bed that was right for me, not the most expensive bed that I can afford. He also responded to emails and phone calls promptly when I questions. To top it off, the free pillow is just as awesome and non-​toxic smelling. Comparing the Essentia pillow (natural latex smell) to my old TempurPedic (couldn’t bury my face in the TempurPedic pillow when it was new due to the toxic smell), I couldn’t be happier! :) By the way the bed was delivered about 3 weeks after the purchase. Many other brands of natural/​organic beds take about 6 – 8 weeks.
If you’re sensitive to chemicals and would like to keep your endocrine system functional, do your research before buying a bed. Essentia does come with a layer of mesh that is made of fire retardant material, but with a doctor’s note, they will make a mattress for you without it. I simply cut away mine. :) Not sure why «M K. Springboro, OH» was filtered. I find it useful. Aside from toxic chemicals, the major difference between Essentia and other memory foam beds is that Essentia allows me to sleep cool. I don’t wake up in hot sweat.
