I went to Fast Foos for lunch at the recommendation of a coworker. She said it was quick and pretty good. I would describe Fast Foos as a Panda Express with better food. I got the two entrée combo that comes with(white/fried) rice for roughly $ 6.50. The portions were great and I could barely finish for the big dude that I am. The place was clean, nothing fancy, but what Chinese places are that are quick and cheap? Definitely will be hitting this place up again for lunch or a quick bite to eat. I had the Orange Chicken which was probably in the top 3 of all Orange Chicken I have consumed. I also had Hot Braised Chicken, also very good and had some kick to it. I knew I liked both entrees because as I neared the end I struggled with which one to save the last bite for to savor the longest. I went with the Orange Chicken. Beverage wasn’t included in the combo, but they have 12oz. fountain size drinks for $ 1.09. Good stuff.

Unfortunately, Fast Foo’s doesn’t quite cut it. The ambiance is a bit depressing, and the staff is very unpleasant. I really only come here when I have an undeniable craving for Orange Chicken and don’t have a lot of time on my lunch break. I usually go for the 2 entrée combo with fried rice. I get the Orange Chicken and the Spicy Braised Chicken. They both are okay, but a bit heavy on the sauce. The flavors can get a bit overwhelming, so I usually end up saving the rest for the next day. If you are in the area, and need to have some fast Asian food, I would suggest walking a couple more blocks to the Panda Express by the Art Institute, or if you’re feeling spendy, grab some MyThai across the street! Maybe I’ll take my own advice next time…

The only reason they get two stars is because they are so efficient. Food leaves a lot to be desired.

Good place to go for some cheap, authentic Chinese fast food. Fast Foo’s does not have the nice interior decorations. In fact, I don’t even think they really turn on the lights in the place ever. The service is not superb(but it does get substantially better if you speak Chinese to them). However, Fast Foo’s does provide a slightly different selection of fast Chinese food than most places. The food tastes like they took the time to make sure each entrée has a different taste. In addition, the service is fast, so it’s perfect for an in-and-out type lunch schedule most of the people in the loop have to stick to. Since this place is lacking in a few of the elements that really make a restaurant a restaurant, it really tears me apart on the inside to rate this one without half stars. Officially I would probably give it 3.5, but I bump it up to 4 stars because I think this place serves its functions(weekday lunch break crowd) perfectly. The justifications for my rating are as follows: 1. Portion size — what I love about this place is that they PACK in the food very generously. You know the dividers in the Styrofoam take out boxes? They apparently are just accessories at Fast Foo’s. They give you enough of each entrée that the food overflow and refuse to be contained. 2. Prices — the two entrée combos here range from 5 to 6 dollars. And the portion size is large enough to feed the hungriest. To be able to get enough food for that price in the Chicago loop is almost impossible. 3. Taste — all the entrees here are cooked in different deliciously unhealthy gravies and sauces. To top it all off, ask for some hot sauce at the check out to drizzle over your lunch to kick it up a notch(but get some tums ready if you want to have a productive afternoon). Overall, taking into account of the quantity of food, prices you pay, and the taste; there is probably no others in the loop that can beat what Fast Foo’s provides. A few tips: 1. ALWAYSCARRYOUT!!! 2. If an entrée looks stale, don’t get it. A rule of thumb for Chinese food is that it always tastes way better when it’s fresh. So if the General Tzoa’s chicken looks a bit stale, chances are, right next to it is a fresh batch of garlic chicken, or shanghai tofu… don’t get fixated on the one item you know you’d like.

I am a fan, because it is cheap, good, efficient and quick Chinese. I usually order the special for $ 5.85, which gives you one or two options, steamed or fried rice, an egg roll and a soda. The Special now varies less from day to day, but I usually go for the brocoli chicken pasta or garlic chicken. To go really cheap, I go for an egg foo young and rice(under $ 3.00 at last check). I go here too many times to count. I find it consistently good, edible Chinese food. FWIW, if you order a fried egg roll, then expect it to have a bit of oil left on it.

Seriously not good. So this has been my first week working back downtown in 4 years and i’ve been trying not to get overly excited about the lunch options. Today i gave in, why oh why :(This was not the place to try for my first lunch downtown. I ordered the $ 5 lunch special, I chose garlic chicken and orange chicken. I’m sorry but if you advertise a chicken dish it should contain more than ONE piece of chicken. I feel so jipped.

I used to go here all the time for lunch. I was on a braised chicken kick for a while. I would try to time my lunch around when they would bring out fresh braised chicken. When they first open they serve the braised chicken from the day before which is not good. Unfortunately the food isn’t as good as it used to be. Plus, most of the workers their pick through the food to give me the worst bits of food for some reason. You get big portions but most of it is not edible. The only thing they have now that I enjoy is the juice from the hot wings(the hot wings aren’t good though). That sauce is excellent. I recommend it added to any dish to spicy it up and add flavor. I sometimes stop in for white rice with the hot wing sauce on top. Also I once found a giant metal staple in my chinese food their. They gave me another order of the food and apologized and said it’s happened before. I’ve also almost chipped my teeth on little bits of chicken bones in their food.

The menu seems like a pretty good deal. But when I started eating the food, the quality just wasn’t there(below average). It’s not hard to make good Chinese food. The cleanliness of this place reminds me of being Chinatown. I’m not sure if that’s what they’re going for, but being in the loop, I don’t think it’s good business strategy. Fast Foo’s, you have a lot of potential, but there’s a reason why Panda Express is doing better. It’s clean and better lit. You guys are at a great location for all the DePaul students. I’d like to see some improvements.

Man, this was some of the best cheapo chinese food I’ve ever had. I had the orange chicken, which was crispy, tender, and delicious. I also had a couple of egg rolls, which could be described the very same way. Props for giving me extra chicken since I didn’t want rice. Major props!

This is my Chinese spot to eat when I have to grab a quick lunch at work. The prices are reasonable(quite cheaper than Panda Express) and the portions are great. I would give the food a 6.5÷10, as it’s tasty, but that’s usually because it’s loaded in some kind of sauce that masks most of the flavors of the meat and veggies. The atmosphere in the dining area feels like a cafeteria, but if you work in the Loop you probably would rather be there than eating at your desk. It’s an okay spot, and once you get used too the food you do start to crave it. However, if I have guests in town, it would definitely not be the first place I’d take them.

I had vegetable lo mein here and I have to say it was pretty good despite the shrimp shell I found in it. This place has a big variety in their menu for great prices– you could get lunch here for $ 4. Don’t go here if you want a PF Chang’s-quality meal but if you are looking for fast fast, greasy Chinese food, this will hit the spot.

Ran in for lunch — completely unremarkable. Standard Chinese lunch spot with counter service steam tables full of fried rice, beef and brocoli, kung pao chicken, etc. Oversalted, greasy food in a styrofoam box. In a pinch, it works — barely.

This is going to be one of those reviews where my final rating does not match my frequency of visits. Caveat lector. Greasy Chinese food in the loop. Two blocks close from work. Not especially great. Has given other people at work I know the runs. I go here about twice or thrice a week, often with another colleague who goes here everyday. He gets the Mongolian beef without the beef. Why? Because he just loves, really loves the gravy. They know him by first name now and chat in mandarin with him about something mundane every time, which is how you really know he’s been accepted — when the conversations aren’t about the weather or sports. I get the two tofu varieties and the fried rice occasionally. Like I said, not that great. Cheap, efficient, quick, but a gourmet meal this is not. I like to think of myself as a seriously discerning foodie, a bon vivant almost, but my trips to fast foo’s are what always remind me, that sometimes, I’m just not.

Popped in here on a quick lunch break. Cheap, fast and reasonably tasty. The orange chicken was, well, okay. Nothing special. Panda’s is better. Different, but better. Also had the almond chicken, which actually tasted just like chicken noodle soup, except not soup. It was kinda strange. The rice, however, I thought was pretty tasty. It had a hearty texture and decent flavor. It actually reminded me a little bit of wild rice. My new job is heading across town in a month, so I doubt I’ll be back. Considering that Panda is just around the corner on Adams, I’d have a hard time recommending the place.

I’m not dead; does that count?! Honestly, the reason I’m probably still alive is because I stopped eating after a few bites. I came here today on a whim because Chipotle’s line was way too long and I was way too hungry. For $ 5.85, I got a large order of almond chicken, fried rice, and a drink, and the best part of the meal was(drumroll please), the drink. Hey, I even thought I’d try the wonton soup out… once again, the best part of the meal was(drumroll please), the drink. Each time I took a bite, just looking at the meat made me sick. It did not look fresh at all and the rice looked and tasted like old white rice they covered with soy sauce for coloring. What ended up happening with said lunch today? I threw it away in the trash and went somewhere else. Next time I won’t waste my money and I’ll continue to the places I know will satisfy my lunch cravings. Foo to you Fast Foo’s!

Currently eating my Fast Foo’s remnants and I don’t know why this food is still going in my mouth. Two stars only because it was edible and tasted like food? I think?

Depending on what I order, my rating fluctuates. Chicken and green beans? Delish. Mao pao tofu? Yum. Mixed veggies? Boring. For quick Chinese food, this place gets the job done. Prices are reasonable, especially the lunch specials, and I stick to a couple faves that I know will please.

I just started up a new job that’s down the street from here and at first snidely ignored it, like I do with all«fast food» Chinese places. But then came that first day where I walked into work hungover like a motherfucker, so much so that I couldn’t function enough to even pack up a brown bag lunch before heading to the office. Lunch time came around and I still felt like I wanted to die, and having VERY limited money and time I wandered in here. Well, the Friday orange chicken special(complete with huuuuuuuge portions and an egg roll for about $ 6) cured me, and in all reality saved my day. I’m actually kind of excited to try it on a day where I don’t feel like I want to die.
