I came here because I was really hungry and it was the closest place to me at the moment. I tried the pizza puff, and it was okay. I wouldn’t come back here. One thing

I’ve only eaten breakfast here. It was very reasonably priced and very good. It’s kind of a dive, but in a good way. I will be back.

MUCH better breakfast than Yolk. This is a hidden gem of Chicago, it’s a small family run place that is nothing but amazing food. I honestly don’t know how to describe it other than«natural». Unlike Yolk or Wildberry, the potatoes and bacon are light, well cooked, and definitely not heavy or greasy. I hate the«food coma» feeling when you eat at those chains, and this is good, honest food. Everything is served on paper plates, but you can also take food to go for a picnic on the lake shore. LOVE it!

It’s literally a whole in the wall kind of feel. It’s old and it surely NEEDS revocation or a facelift. It smells a lot like my friends grandmas basement who by the way smoked like a chimney. The menu is lots of greasy food, but greasy food that we all like and crave. I see they have tacos(I was hoping they were authentic since a lot of from what I could tell are Latin) I ordered the beef tacos but instead of tortillas I asked if they could use the bread for the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, the cashier looked at me confused and said no we cannot do that. I asked again and asked if they could substitute it and I would gladly pay for the difference if any, he stubbornly said«No sorry we can’t do that» I almost grabbed by husband by the arm and walked out of there. But since it’s late and we are starving, I reckoned and ordered the tacos. Well they were Americanized, disappointed, but they were just ok, not bad and had large portions of ground beef. The Steak tacos(which I was hoping was Fajita meat) NOPE it was cheap meat with lots of hard fatty on it My husband(which he is white) was happy with it, but me being full Latina know the difference between authentic tacos and Americanized tacos and these were no where near what I am used to. It hit the spot but we would not go back. The restrooms are grossed and the place looks like a gas station restaurant that is in the middle of Old El Paso and the décor will say it all. Surprised that this place is up and running but with all the High Rises that are being built around the restaurant, I guess lots of the constructions workers come here because we have seen lots of them walking in and out of here.

I ordered the Philly steak and it is really good. People work here are very friendly. Before u go to Navy Pier, come and grab some food you like. This place also have a very nice bar with different drink. I highly recommend this place.

This is a dingy looking Coney Island style hole in the wall. When you walk in you feel like this is the kind of place you only buy fries and other greasy food. It just has that kind of feel to it. It’s also a great location close to the Navy Pier and Michigan Ave(kind of between the two). We couldn’t find any other cheap greasy food places near by so we came in here. Best part was that there was no wait(it was basically empty). We got cheese fries and mozzarella sticks. The food was cheap and hit the spot. The portions were also large. The mozzarella sticks(not sure if they are frozen or made in house) were surprisingly good. They were crunchy and had all of their cheese contained in them with nothing popping out(I hate when a restaurant gives me mozzarella sticks with half the cheese oozing out of them). The fries were good but a bit saggy due to all the cheese on top. The bathroom was pretty gross so I would avoid it if you can. I went up to ask for a cup of water and the worker grabbed a cup, looked inside it, and than cast it aside and gave me a different cup. It made me wonder how they separate their clean from dirty cups.

I used to go to Flamingo with colleagues usually once a week(for years!) when my office was located near there on Fairbanks Court. I have a friend who also used to stop in for carry out breakfasts on the way to the office and I recall his huge omelettes or egg dishes with hash browns and toast that had everyone in the office drooling! Now that we’ve moved from this Streeterville area to River North I miss it, and we still talk about it! Oh and they serve breakfast all day! Walking distance from Navy Pier, it’s a small hole in the wall that seems out of place with the other upscale or more pricey restaurants in the area. Yet I know that it’s a welcome addition, due to the type of food and the pricing. Think Greek diner, with burgers, gyros, tacos, burritos, and various other sandwich combos and dinners like ribs. And I MUST mention the BEST Greek chicken I’ve ever had! I’m not a fan or gravy, yet the brown sauce like gravy that they place over this broiled chicken dish is amazing! It’s served with rice as a perfect accompaniment. This dish has been their special on Thursdays for as long as I can remember, and this past summer, on my family’s way back from Navy Pier, I led them here. My husband looked at the outside, and knowing my taste, really wasn’t expecting much. My daughter was just hungry, and when they both looked at the huge board that’s the menu, they were both happy. They still had the Greek chicken! I ordered it, while my husband and daughter ordered a Chicago-style hot dog and a philly cheese steak, and they were both dipping into my plate! The combo meals come with fries and either a pop or beer, and in addition to several tables for dine in they also have a bar and tvs. It’s a very low key, dive type place, which I’m sure is nice for the people who live in the area. I loved it for lunch, both dine-in and carry out. The guys behind the counter are always super friendly and strive to make everyone happy. Tomorrow is Thursday, and just thinking about it, I’m going to order the Greek chicken… and drive out of my way… to pick it up for my family! You must try it.

His place ain’t bad considering it’s just a whole in the wall on the way to navy pier. Large choice of items including breakfast. Service can be a little slow around lunch hour. Tried the Italian beef for the first time and it wasn’t bad. Not too spicy. Tried the hot dog which was pretty good too. Lots of seating and a full bar if you are into liquid lunches.

The Gyro meat was so dry I almost choked on it. The best part of my meal were the fries. I don’t think i will be giving this place my money again.

Ok, honestly– if you want good food and drink, this is the place. No joke, such great drinks and food. No, there isn’t a background music that you can jive to but honestly so worth the value here compare to what’s around streetervle.

I used to live right above the Flamingo, and I wore this place out. Love the burgers, love the giant omelettes and hash browns, and really love the tuna melt. The guys behind the counter will definitely get to know you if you show up often enough, and conversations with them were always friendly and pleasant. I also have to mention the cups… I’m a sucker for pop in a styrofoam cup. Nothing’s better. As far as the bar section is concerned, I never actually saw anyone sitting at the bar. But it always looked clean. I don’t make it out to the Flamingo nearly as often as I used to, but it’s definitely a place I will keep coming back to.

LOVE these guys. I live right next door and I order from them on many a hungover weekend morning. I just call them up, ask for a veggie omlet with hashbrowns and rye toast, and when I come to walk my dog in ten minutes, it’s there waiting for me! And it’s only $ 9 for a solid meal. I actually was eating this on my building rooftop the other day when a guy stopped me and said, «WHEREDID U GETTHAT? That’s EXACTLY what I was craving this morning!» and I said, «Flamingo! Right down there!» and pointed to it from my roof. The guy’s mouth dropped to the floor. He said he always assumed it was a shitty place, because it doesn’t have much decoration and its on a little strip with a nail place and a dog food place. But I told him some of the best stuff is hidden. And that they are so polite, clean, friendly, and quick there. I love that it’s kind of a hidden gem, but I hope more people go there to give them business because they deserve it!

A quick serve greasy spoon with a small bar. You will not be going here for the atmosphere! However, when you are hungover or you are looking for a quick bite on a budget, you will not find another place like it in Streeterville. Gyros, burgers, griddle breakfast, etc. and grab a domestic or Mexican beer. The prices can’t be beat either you can get a meal and a beer for under $ 10!!! Like I said a unique find in Streeterville! Oh, if you live close they offer free delivery too!

This place is right across from our apartment, and is our go-to joint for sandwiches, burgers, dogs and unique daily specials. Most plates are around $ 8 – 9 and come with fries and either a «pop» or a 12oz draft beer. Try the Navy Pier Burger with bacon and cheese, nine hot wings for $ 9 or the tuna melt with swiss on grilled rye. Also a nice little bar for watching games or simply tossing back a few cold ones after visiting the Navy Pier. Breakfast served as well, including an egg scramble with chorizo sausage. Certainly worth stopping in!

Restaurant update: Please read my prior review for full details including pro’s and con’s of the restaurant. I went here for a quick lunch with my wife and ended up realizing again that the prices for the combo meal were quite high compared to other lunch choices here. I ended up with the philly steak combo which was cooked well with cheese, shrooms, and green pepper. A bit on the small side and falling apart. The french fries came with skin on and cooked fresh. All and all 10 dollars with get you a meal with a drink either beer or soft drink. I believe the prices are on the higher side because of the added option of beer with your meal. Otherwise I will try other restaurants in this area before coming back here for lunch. On the plus side they have quite a extensive menu from burritos to burgers so if you are looking for a grease joint this might be the place! FYI I also scanned in the menu this time so you can see the specials and cost of everything on the menu.

We had an hour to kill before going to see a movie at AMC river east, so we walked around. We walked past this place and figured they probably were decently priced, so we stopped in for a drink. Draft beers were $ 2.50, and a pitcher was $ 10. My whiskey and ginger-ale was $ 5.50. The large basket of cheese fries was under $ 3. Everyone was happy, and it didn’t cost much. The bar tender, and the guys behind the grill were both really nice. The fries were fresh and tasty. If you are ever in this area and want somewhere cheap to go, this is your place. Too bad it’s not open very late.

Ok so seriously this place has nothing«great» or ground breaking food to offer. However, it is a SUPERB local bar, the bar tenders here are great and so are the customers. This is a great place to go if you are looking for a cheap drink and maybe catch a game. I’m so glad that this place is near me in Streeterville because there are not a lot of cheap options around here! Oh and if you live in the building, they deliver.

Wow, I’ve walked pass this block many times and didn’t know there was a hole-in-the-wall bar right there! Alright, here’s the lowdown: –Pretty darn cheap eats –Standard grease-joint fare(brugers, gyros, tacos) –CHEAP beer –If you looking for ambience, uh, definitely not your place. Overall, I was moderately satisfied with my chicken taco with 12 oz beer combo for my Wednesday lunch. I plan to come back every few weeks as the craving hits.

Flamingo is out of the way which is good and bad. It’s a nice break from the crowds of people a few blocks away, but kinda out of the way for what it is. Flamingo isn’t going for anything special it is a burger /hot dog and fries kinda place. For being a burger place they have a large menu — they have patty melts, tacos, and pizza puffs. Many of the items have a combo meal with them that comes with fries and a drink. My favorite part of this was that you could either get a 20oz pop, or a 12oz beer with your combo. I ended up getting the fried polish combo with an orange soda. The polish was decent, I think its pretty hard to mess up something like that. For what it is Flamingo does it well, personally I could get the same food a lot closer to work so its going to be hard for me to make it Flamingo again.
