Fantastic soups, bread and confections as well as savories. Charming café that is immaculate.

I went here with a friend to discuss school work. Really nice and clean place. But, the music is a little loud so it is a little hard to study there. I had hot chocolate there which was ok, I had to add my own sugar in it since it served without sugar and was bitterush.

I just tried their special Gibanica and was great. Something like luxuriously delicate lasagna cake. The ladies been very nice. Told me a little about the region the Gibanica comes from. I liked it

What can I say I’m obsessed with their food. Smoked Salmon panini on a homemade roll, Nutella and banana on a homemade crêpe or the Serbian salad made fresh to order? I won’t stop until I try everything Sonya and her lovely mother make. On top of that it is immaculate and makes you feel like you’re in Europe at a small café.

3 words… Strawberry Banana Crepes. You won’t regret it. This is a very clean Little bakery and sandwich shop. I live in the area, and had driven by many times. I stopped by this week on the suggestion of a friend, and found it to be really pleasant, with an unhurried atmosphere, and the crepes and sandwiches are fantastic.

C and I keep driving by this place and finally decided to stop in for lunch. C had a savory egg and cheese pie; I had a beef crêpe. The crêpe was really excellent. The egg and cheese pie is very pretty and has a nice texture, but we thought some honey would make a nice complement. Overall, the quality of the food is fresh and beautifully prepared. You order at the counter. When the food is ready, they call you. Like New Orleans, except that’s where it ends and is nothing like New Orleans. Instead it’s like being somewhere in former Yugoslavia, but without any vodka in sight. ;) Food: 4 stars Service: 4 stars(very friendly and helpful owner explains everything) Ambiance: 4 stars — Very clean and nicely decorated. We’ll be back.

Enjoyed a sweet crêpe and hot tea with my hubby and it made us really happy! The place is super clean and the owner whos nickname is Jakodinka«strawberry girl» was very friendly. The traditional Serbian music playing is very pleasant to listen to. We will be back for sure!

We were determined to try out the«not-so-happy-nautical-creature» restaurant nearby on Lincoln and Washtenaw, so we used Jagodinka as the launch point since we were in West Rogers Park area two(2) hours before the restaurant opened its door on a Memorial Day Weekend Sunday. It’s clean, cozy, and beautifully-decorated café owned by a Serbian family. We weren’t hungry, but I took the Unilocalers’ suggestions on the salmon sandwich, along with a cherry pie, large mocha, and large latte. The total came under $ 20. Everything was made-to-order by this lovely lady owner. The ambiance here was SO relaxing. There would be a plenty of free street parking if you drove your own vehicle. I liked the sesame buns used for the salmon sandwich. They were crunchy and went well the onions, smoked salmon, and cheese. They used the Julius Meinl coffee; the coffee tended to be much smoother, milder in comparison to the other local brews(Dark Matter, Metropolis, and Intelligentsia). I personally thought the choice of coffee was appropriate for the pastries and sandwiches they provided. If we weren’t planning on heading to another destination, we would have spent our entire afternoon in here. Toward the end of the visit, another group of first-timers came in. I said it to myself: «this won’t be your last visit». Jagodinka is located across from the Mather High School. It could be a bit difficult to find since it doesn’t have a prominent signage. If you want to spend some quiet time with your loved ones or by yourself, come to Jagodinka.

A recent trip to Chicago meant a chance to sample some savory lunch items at Jagodinka. First, the soups! Chicken noodle: fresh parsley, nicely diced carrots and celery, not too salty, tender pieces of chicken. The broth was homemade and positively restorative on a blustery day. Cream of broccoli soup had the perfect consistency for a cream soup, with a rich taste of broccoli filling it out deliciously. Finally, the salmon pannini: served on a warmed, seeded bun, it had also been toasted inside as well as out so that the sandwich held up, texture-wise, throughout. It was well-layered with salmon, topped with lettuce, served, with, but of course, a pickle. The mother-daughter team at Jagodinka make everything on-site and apparently also do catering. I look forward to my next visit to Chicago … to try something else at Jagodinka! .

Clean, great service, fresh pastries and fresh coffee, what more could you ask for? I had a meeting here with a teacher for a project that we are working on. I went in on a Wednesday afternoon when it wasn’t too busy, and the quite, but bright atmosphere was a great, comfortable, satisfying environment where I could discuss work and catch up with my mentor. I ordered a coffee for here and a croissant, which both were delicious. The croissant was soft and crumbly, the coffee was a medium blend, perfect for the cold weather that day. I was greeted happily and served promptly. I felt like I was in Europe!

Absolutely amazing bakery and café!!! I am so glad I stopped by. I got the smoked turkey sandwich, and homemade chicken soup. Also, a cherry/vanilla strudel with a caramel latte. When you walk in its very welcoming and clean. The soup tasted so good with a kick. The sandwich was very fresh and crisp. The breading was super soft but crisp on the outside. My favorite was my cherry vanilla strudel. I told the worker I like flakey pastries and she had tons of flavors to choose from. I loved the pastry so much I bought a box of cookies! I’m eating them right now and I am so impressed how fresh each of them are! The caramel latte was amazing! When I am in Chicago again this is the place to go!

CLEAN! Just walking in the front door, and you immediately see this place sparkles. The salmon panini is my personal favorite. The salads are great with the house dressing. Everything is fresh including the conversation with the owner, Sonya. Break a leg! I want this place to stay!

What a nice little surprise! Stopped in for a quick snack on the way home from errands in the north suburbs, was not disappointed in this crisp, clean little storefront café. Had some coffees, tried a homemade chicken soup and a savory crêpe, simple and delicious. Couldn’t resist splitting a small box of the vegan cookies… not too indulgently sweet, just right. If happily drop back in if I happened through the neighborhood, more than a few of the dishes caught my eye. Next time! P. S. Not many choices if you have food sensitivities, e.g., gluten, milk, eggs, so be prepared to make a few trade offs.

I am here today for their soup and their bread. Both are delicious, hearty, and have no preservatives. The owner told me that she believes that food should make you happy and I’m already starting to feel that way. This is the opposite of fast food. It is been made slowly and deliberately, with the best ingredients, and they truly care about how you feel after you eat. If you are coming for their homemade soup be sure to come early because once it’s gone you will have to settle for one of their preservative free pastries…

I went in there on October 31st and bought some pasties. I don’t remember the exact names of the pastries I bought, but the one of the pastry had rotten smell with mold growing on the bottom. The lady who worked at the store was super nice, and she pushed me into buying this particular nutty cake pastry because it was a big hit and that’s why there were only three left for that day. In reality, the pastry has been sitting there over a week, growing mold on the bottom. I mean, it’s totally fine if it was a big hit and she just had to dig some out of the garbage to sell or something. My only reason to go to a pastry shop is to eat something freshly baked, not some over a week old pastry. I also took a bite out of pastry and now I have food poisoning. I can’t say the pastry was the cause of my food poisoning, but I encourage everyone to inspect their pastries before eating. Overall, highly disappointed with this place.

They have reforma cake! To those who don’t know, it is a Serbian cake made with chocolate and hazelnuts and it is absolutely delicious. I’ve been wanting to try this place out since it opened so I finally had the opportunity to do so today and am so glad that I did. The two ladies working there were so sweet and even made me another latte when I spilled mine(I’m clumsy I know) without charging me extra. I definitely plan on trying their paninis. So glad this place opened!

What a nice replacement for all the places that used to be here! I got a smoked salmon panini and salami and grilled cheese Panini’s for my kids. Our meal was yummy and we took some cakes to go. The service was great. The The café is sweet and clean. What more could a foodie ask for? I saw that they had sweet and savory crepes on the menu as well so I will be coming back for that!
