A solid little sandwich shop. I popped in here last Saturday for lunch. Despite an hilarious ESL ordering moment — I’d ordered Lemonade, and guy behind the counter said«Mashed Potatoes?» Oh, sure, yeah, I’d rather drink those! That was amusing. What I did drink was my lemonade, once I got it, and ate a delicious Boneless Pork Sandwich. It was GIANT — enough for two meals. Nice, clean place, laid out well. I like the row of chairs along the front windows so you can people watch while eating. Very pleasant and a good value. I’d go back if in the area.

Overpriced, for what you get, and very underwhelming(I had a chicken pita). This place/location is super convenient to my work and home, and I have no desire to return. The attached ice cream/italian ice place, Annette’s, is wonderful though.

One star is because the Italian Ice was enjoyed by my one year old… Another star for big portions and little prices… Food was bland and tasteless. With that being said, they won’t be seeing me again…

Muffaletta, enough said. I haven’t had a great muffaletta in a long time and Metropolis didn’t disappoint. Good sandwiches, large on value.

I stopped by this place knowing it had a good ice cream selection [even though the ice cream part is a different business] and I really enjoyed the food. It was a quick meal, prepared fast by friendly service. The prices are what give this place 4 stars, although the food is decent it is really cheap and whatever you order comes with more then enough food. I would recommend this place if you are in the area and need a quick bite

Ehh. the food was okay, not great enough to rush a return visit to. Service was nice, but the food took a very long time. A little bit on the pricey end. I ordered their rotisserie chicken with corn and mashed potatoes. I seriously don’t remember what it tastes like.

Metropolis is good for an easy dinner(best for two or more in my opinion), that pretty much anyone will like. Their sandwiches are very much like homemade. I had a rotisserie chicken sandwich, with zuccini provincial the other night for a quick dinner. I am not a guy who eats small portions, and the sandwich was filling after I was half-done. Not sure if all their sandwiches are like that, but it was good. To me, their«dinners for 2» concept is pretty smart. This place has a very convenient location to the El, so even though it’s almost like getting a rotisserie chicken at Dominick’s with a few sides from the deli, it’s more convenient than actually going to Dominick’s if you live around Armitage. The only issue is that the quality of the chicken is really no different than Dominick’s, at least from what I can tell. Their sides are good, but nothing that really jumps out. This is a good, solid takeout place, but it’s more of a quick solution for dinner than anything else.

I am shocked that anyone gives this craphole a favorable review. I live a few doors down from Metropolis, there is an extremely limited amount of places that fit reasonably priced carry out in the quick walking vicinity(Subway, CBA, Dee’s, Boston Blackie’s), yet I do everything I can to completely avoid this place. I am most disappointed that someone allegedly from Brooklyn gave this place 5-stars. He must be a transplant because anyone who is actually accustomed to the amazing food in NYC could never actually like a place like this. First of all, the service is an abomination. They are not polite, they are not attentive, and it takes a minimum of 15 minutes to fulfill the simplest order possible. Second of all, the food is not good. I’ll concede the rotisserie chicken is passable(but far from a standout). But, I’ve had a few other things on the menu, and even the basic sides suck. Everything else I’ve had is terrible. Lastly, it’s overpriced. I’d say the average entrée should be $ 2-$ 3 cheaper per entrée, especially given the lack of quality. And, it’s obvious the owners are cheap. The one redeeming quality is Annette’s ice cream/italian ice. However, I will consider that a separate entity, so I am better able to give Metropolis the criticism it deserves.

This joint is definitely going on my delivery short-list. I’ve gotten food delivered twice now and both times it has come in less than a typical Domino’s guarantee. (and I’d say the pizza is way better too) But one thing I’ve noticed that people haven’t commented on is the Herbed Cheese Polenta. I totally got this on a whim and it stopped me in my tracks. I don’t know if I figured they would be those little polenta fries I’ve had at other restaurants in town, or if I didn’t know the difference between polenta fries and tofu fries— but people — - PEOPLE… this polenta rocked. Well — as good as polenta in a styrofoam pint-sized container can be. There was a ton of fresh herbs on top, plenty of very fresh parm grated all inside, and the flavor was pretty much the best I’ve had in town. Either that’s sad– or it’s a revelation. But bottom line — I will definitely be ordering this again, and will be trying out other dishes I’ve nay-say’d at other places. Thanks metropolis, for turning me on to corn in another form.

Great place for healthy choices, or not so healthy… Great prices and great choices. I live in the neighborhood, and many lazy nights I call and order food I could easily make at home, but like I said, am too lazy! Never have I gotten dry chicken, most of the time I have left overs and they are really fast. The owner and his family are super friendly and always make sure your happy!

I can’t say I’m all that impressed. I have had Metropolis twice(once delivery, the more recent time I ate there outside). I think they should just stick to their little connected Italian ice shop. Their food is classic«American» fusion with all the average barbecue foods – nothing outstanding. There is something for everyone however. I had the shrimp/ribs meal and was disappointed because I only received 3 shrimps with my order. I will admit that the BBQ ribs were very tender and tasty, coming with a side of BBQ sauce. There are a variety of sides but they are all quite bland tasting. The Spanish Rice is literally from one of those $ 1 packets you find in the grocery store, while the potatoes are peeled but a bit undercooked and with little garlic or butter(aka flavorless). My boyfriend ate the Chicken Greek Salad with gouda cheese and really enjoyed it. Last time I ordered in, the food was delivered quickly, but my chicken seemed to be too dry. I don’t think I’d have Metropolis again and now I just seem like a pure complainer… I’m really not that picky!

This place is pretty decent, but I don’t know that I’d call my meal outstanding. I had a pasta dish delivered. Delivery was quick and easy. The pasta was a huge portion. Definitely could have fed two. I just don’t know that the dish was anything special, but I may be willing to order again and try something new.

I love the rotisserie at Metropolis Rotisseria! Its a great healthy fast food alternative, and its always consistently prepared! The pasta salad, the vegetables, red potatoes, are all fresh and flavored to perfection. Try it out next time you’re in Lincoln Park, and tell them you want your chicken Spicy…

I admit, I haven’t been in the place but the delivery is damn good! A whole chicken dinner with 4, yup, I said 4 sides of your choice for under $ 20 for 2 people is AWESOME! Any restaurant that delivers quality and perfectly cooked veggies gets an A in my book. The cauliflower and broccoli were perfect!!! The salads were huge with very fresh veggies and big hunks of feta cheese! I dumped my salad onto a plate rather than eating it out of the plastic container and it over filled the plate! One side salad could easily feed 2. I have 2 petty complaints about the place…1.) The spinach pieces in the Greek salad were HUGE and a few had the tougher thick part of the stem attached. I just wish they were torn a little since it wasn’t baby spinach. 2.) I got the«Spicy Cajun». It wasn’t spicy and it really wasn’t Cajun. I reminded me of a BBQ sauce which I wasn’t in the mood for… I expected the chicken just to have spicy seasoning and not to be sauced. The chicken meat tasted good but there was a slight lack of seasoning. The skin had the«Spicy Cajun» sauce which tasted good but like I said, I just wasn’t in the mood for since I had eaten BBQ last week. The chicken came with bread and more sauce which was a nice touch especially since so many places charge extra for that stuff. If I could, I would give Metropolis Rotisseria 3.75 stars but I will round up. The menu is extensive and has pretty much something for everyone. I am dying to try a muffaleto next time and one of the Italian ices, ice creams or smoothies.

3.5-ish. a NEW place to add to my growing list of places that have yummy and quick take-out. i love that they have so much to choose from. i got the chicken fingers with a side of ranch and WOW were they good. we also shared a greek salad that had an amazing amount of feta cheese on it, and the honey got chicken on a pita. unfortunately, his chicken came without one of the main ingredients listed on the menu(it was something greek… i can’t remember what it was, but he was disappointed). either way, there’s something about this place that i like, so i will probably come back for more goodness.

MMMMmm I’ve walked by this place a couple times, but last night it was raining and I’d just gotten done at Nu U MedSpa next door, plus I had my suitcase with me so I decided I needed a second to regroup and grab some food before heading to the hotel. Upon studying the menu, I was deeply divided between two tempting options — the roasted chicken on pita(basically chicken gyro) or BBQ chicken w/2 sides. I decided on the chicken on pita and a side of mashed potatoes, both of which were quite good. The sandwich was hot and fresh and the roasted chicken on it tasted great — plus the tzatziki sauce was really good with lots of dill. I should’ve saved room for italian ice, but I wanted something warm and filling — which my meal definitely was. So great location, great food, good price and warm dining room made me a happy girl.

Yay for free delivery(you gotta spend $ 12 or more)…yay for the free sampling of Italian ice w/every order! I totally agree w/Anonymous P. I was so surprised to find the large variety of food on their menu. From muffaleto sandwiches to Fettuccine Primavera. If you can’t find something you like on this menu, you’re not human or have zero taste buds. I just had their rotisserie chicken, steamed veggies and greek salad. They put a lovely slab of feta across the top of my salad(and folks this is no BS side salad, it’s a decent size) The steamed veggies were perfectly steamed and thankfully not soggy by the time they made it from Armitage to Chicago Ave. For $ 8 I ate like the queen I am… and they even sent a nice sampling of Italian ice free w/my order. Big hug for Metropolis!!!

I’ve only eaten here once that I can recall(although there are probably at least one or two I cannot) — 9÷11÷2001. After being dismissed from work that day, people were wandering the streets aimlessly. I aimlessly wandered in here with some friends. For a day that really sucked, the food and service were nice. The one upside to that day was that — for once — everyone was genuinely concerned for one another and kind. It was a little miracle for those few precious hours. If the service is even half of what it was that day, I’d heartily recommend the place!

Oh hells yeah, I got here first! This place is great. We were in the neighborhood looking at invitation stores and we stopped in for lunch. It’s a slightly bigger than small family joint. They had a great selection food, starting with the rotisserie chicken that you can see spinning through the glass. The chicken was seriously tasty. It came with some crusty grain bread & a choice of two sides. Between the both of us, the wife & I had the chunky mashed potatos, the polenta(quite good), cole slaw, steamed broccoli & zuchinni. Everything had a tiny punch of shaved parm on top & they tasted really fresh. Since it’s a family joint, there’s no décor whatosever. They could definitely use a professional designer to help the interior match the food. The weird thing was that it seemed there was more family than actual customers this afternoon. Because half of the crowd kept popping into the kitchen. unless that’s just how they roll.
