Mr. Beef & Pizza

Love Mr Beef and everyone that works here is always so nice ! My favorite neighborhood place. They have the best beef sandwiches in Chicago in my opinion.

The best Italian beef in Chicago! It has gotten pretty pricey over the years, so I don’t come as often.

I tried the Italian beef w/​sweet & hot peppers. It was delicious and piled with meat. I will definitely be trying other items as well. I heard the chili is also good.

Best beef in town and delicious pizza. Cordial service, drink refills, bbq beef on Saturday for $ 1.90. You cant go wrong here.

Use to be great. Fresh pizza, fresh beef, fresh hot dogs, and fresh fries. Nope. Not for a year or more have I gotten a dog that was not sitting in water for way to long. It loses all is flavor. The fries, forget about it! Horrible! If they are not from the all day left overs then they have to be from the half hour order before yours. Side note: the pickle they put on your dog’s are sick. They look and taste like sick little pickles.
The pizza can be ok at times if you catch it fresh. They love to pile on their sausage on it. Some times less is more.
This place use to be better. It’s just died down and got comfortable. Who knows maybe the owners will try to come back one day with it or do us all of favor and sell so it can go back to its full potential.

I been in this restaurant for years. The «hot beef» it is delicious and the draft beer it is very good. My kids love the «double hot dog» and they ordered twice last time we stopped by. Going to the «Irving Plaza «shopping mall? Stop by and try it ! We will comeback soon and recommend them to everyone.

This is my favorite place for Italian Beef as I have been coming here for years. Yes, Johnnie’s and Jay’s are pretty good as well, but Mr Beef is always consistent. Their hot peppers goes hand in hand with the Italian Beef. I will be coming back for sure.

One of the best beefs ever! Its juicy and flavorful. Better than any other spot I’ve been too! Highly recommend this place. There pizza and chili are delicious too.

In my opinion this is THE best place in Chicagoland for an Italian beef sandwich, Italian sausage sandwich or pizza and I have tried a lot of restaurants. Want something different on the menu? Try a flame broiled hamburger or a hotdog with fries it’s all excellent and don’t forget the onion rings. On holidays and family events we buy the beef by the pound it’s always a hit with our guests. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

They deliver and usually pretty quick. Awesome loaded beef sandwiches. Decent pizza by the slice. Good mozzarella sticks (marinara is a little runny) and great fries. Usually my go to beef place in the area.

Amazing place, friendly staff, ample parking, and quick service. Everytime I visit Chicago, I must stop by Mr. Beef. The gentleman working at the counter is always happy, treats customers with respect and never makes me feel rushed (A huge deal for me) even though I stopped twice 10 minutes before they closed and he insisited that I dine in instead of taking my order to go as he knows I like to eat their mouth-​watering italian beef on site. I would highly recommend this place for quality italian beef and a taste of mid-​western hospitality!

Why are people crazy about their dry Italian beef?! Definitely go for the mr. beef deluxe whatever inch bigger the better pizza

This is a great place if your are craving an authentic Chicago Italian Beef or just want awesome pizza. The giardiniera they use on their Italian Beef is amazing and they don’t skimp out on the meat they put on their burgers and sandwiches.
The pizza is delicious with great quality in the toppings and they’ll even put giardiniera on your pizza if you want. I wish they also served Deep Dish Pizza, but you can’t have everything I guess. If you eat in you’ll find an upbeat place thanks to it’s 50’s style pictures on the wall, friendly, and clean. So enjoy a full Chicago Italian Beef!

Rosa J. has started doing what a Chicagoan is supposed to do: eating hotdogs, burgers, and sandwiches around towns. Blissfully, she has been doing so on her days off from work.
Today is MLK Day, and Dr. MLK Jr. would for sure be happy to consume some tasty Chicago-​style Italian Beef sandwich, if he had the opportunity. I would also kindly remind him to add some sweet peppers as well.
Rosa J. did the exactly the same: ordered an Italian beef sandwich with sweet peppers (50 cents extra). I wasn’t expecting much from this place, but they obviously know their stuff! The sandwich was delicious! Their beef was tender and flavorful to every slice and string. I can honestly say that it was $ 6.50 well-​spent.
Hubby ordered the cheese pizza and regular-​sized fries. Be aware of that «regular-​sized» fries; it was a fairly large serving. I was glad that I didn’t ask for fries; otherwise, I would need a spare stomach.
Their fountain drinks are re-​fill able. Just respectfully ask one of the dudes working behind the counter.
It’s freakin’ ironic that Wen*y’s and Kentucky F’ied Chic*en are the next-​door neighbors. Do not go there, please. Come to Mr. Beef & Pizza instead. They also have parking available. Though tight and congested, the parking lot is ample for the city standard.
It’s also very close to the HIP. Let me tell ya; Harlem Ave. in Chicago is really the road containing some of the best food in the city.

I used to come here for the cheese slices in my fatter, processed food eating days — had to eat something in a hurry Saturday because I was running low on energy and needed some protein fast — opted for a dry beef with hot peppers. Decided only on one bite of the bread since I didn’t want the crappy white flour carbs. Trust me, I could have eaten it all!!!
The beef was AMAZING! Haven’t had one in years and MUCH BETTER THAN JOHNNIES ON NORTH AVENUE AND A BIGGER BEEF!

Not too much to say… They have the best and most consistent beef you will find… Ive been to Johnnie’s, Ive been to Al’s on Taylor St., both solid beefs but its just not Mr. Beef.
Now Ive heard Baris’s Italian Deli makes a mean beef, but until I try it Mr. Beef is the one. Its juicy, flavorful (oh that oregeno), those peppers and it all stays together on the bun.
Find me a beef that beats it.

When people say stupid things like «Portillo’s has the best beef in Chicago, blah blah blah.» I automatically think «suburbanite» or «that’s terrible that poor person has been in a tragic accident causing them to lose their sense of taste”(if its the latter than ok, its acceptable)
This here folks, this right here is the real deal. The beef is super tender, melt in your mouth perfect. They do it all in house so its extremely fresh. I won’t go on and on about it even though I could, best beef and fries combo in the city hands down.

My fiancé and I decided to come here to eat pizza. We’ve ordered the cheese with beef. I have to say, it was really good. You can tell the sauce is homemade. It’s a good sauce made with oregano, cumin, and a bit of sweetness. The beef is juicy and well prepared. It wasn’t overly salty or greasy. The decoration and atmosphere is very retro and comfortable. They even serve beer, either Miller and MGD.
I should’ve tried their Italian Beefs! We’ll definitely try their other foods in the near future.

Everyone has their favorite local hangout place that they grew up with, and crave as adults every now and then. For my buddy Marc, it’s this place. For me, it’s a place in Orland Park.
These places have food that makes memories, that entwines itself into your mind and heart and when you have to have it, you HAVE to have it.
I got to experience Mr. Beef with Marc last Friday, and to me, it was good. But to him, it’s the end-​all-​be-​all. And I get that. If I took him to my place, I’m sure he wouldn’t drool over the food.
The beef sandwich I ordered was good. A little dry, but good. I should’ve ordered it dipped, but that’s my bad, not theirs. The beef was tender and fall-​aparty. The bread was fresh, and it came out really fast. Marc had a slice of pizza that looked good too. I might have to try that next time.

Sure, I’d totally go back. It was good. Would I go back myself? Mm. Maybe, if I was in the neighborhood. But you can bet that if Marc wants to go again, I’ll go too.
