Pie Hole is a yummy pizza joint, They are open late and have an array of choices to pick from to make the pizza your own. I like the little innuendos they have on the menu like«I want a Large Sausage» and«Our Hole is Open» it gives the vibe some humor. The workers at pie hole are quite friendly and kind themselves, I always chat up w/the head pizzaiolo/a. I’ve had 3 different kinds of pizza slices. The 1st pizza I tried was the Chicken pizza it was very good and filling. The veggie pizza which I added my own toppings of mushrooms, green olives, red onion, and green peppers was absolutely hands down so delicious, it was the Best. I also tried the 6 cheese pizza and although it’s quite flavorful the one slice is just not enough. So I had to order two slices. Another thing I might add is that if your gonna order 3 slices you must as well order a medium size pizza because it’s gonna cost you the same. I really like Pie Hole and if you don’t then you can«Shove it in your Pie Hole» lol. 5 stars all the way: D

Very sad to see this place closed. Great GF pizza, probably some of the best I’ve had. *sob*

Best gluten free crust I’ve had in the city(yes, I’ve been to Giordanos). My boyfriend even loved it. Small pizza perfectly serves two people. The ambiance in the place needs work but the pizza makes up for it. The workers seemed pretty grumpy but were still helpful with all my annoying gluten free questions. I definitely recommend this place to those who are gluten free and not!

Pie Hole was on my list to try from its review on Chicago’s Best and I wasn’t disappointed. After having some beers at a neighborhood bar and wanting something to absorb the alcohol, we crossed paths with Pie Hole. I had a slice of cheese and the crust was was very crisp but not at all charred. The cheese was plentiful and still tender. The sauce was enough to taste which was very«tomatoey» but not so overpowering or piled on that it was obnoxious. Pretty much a perfect slice. I would go there again!

I have been here twice now. The pizza has always been good and the service responsive. BUT… This last time I went the guy at the counter was haggling with a customer over $ 0.82 in change. When we finally ordered 4 slices to go, we ended up waiting 25 or so minutes to get our slices. What made it worse was the fact the manager was chatting with someone at one of the tables and didn’t step in to help make pizzas… When we got home we realized they only gave us 3 of the 4 slices of pizza we ordered. I called the store and they were very apologetic. I asked for them to credit my card but they couldn’t do that. Instead I have a slice«on account» according to the manager… I’d love to give 4 stars but this last time was a bit of a disaster…

We live next door and have been here 3 or 4 times. Each time, our pizza was more than 20 minutes later than they quoted. Last time they hadn’t even STARTED making the pizza until we got there(to their credit, they comped us a few things). Additionally, they screw up the toppings pretty frequently. To sum up– the Pizza is OK but not worth the headache.

I would proudly take my friends here, where else can you get a customized *slice* of pizza??? Everyone here is friendly too, they make you feel welcome. They offer your typical beverages and then some more tasty options like a pineapple ginger soda for instance.

I’ve been here twice now, both times I walked in around 30 minutes after they opened. The service is very friendly, I can only assume being an early bird has gotten me a better server than those who have prompted a bunch of angry reviews here. I live three blocks from the place so I can’t vouch for their delivery. The pizza tastes very good, with crust that’s firm enough not to be floppy yet still soft(no cracker crust like Vito & Nick’s). The first time I got a slice with sausage, white mushroom and garlic. The sausage is fairly bland, but the fresh roasted garlic is outstanding. The sauce is tasty and you get a good amount, enough to be present in every bite but not oozing out everywhere. My second visit I had a slice with sun dried tomato pesto(plus the regular sauce), spinach, portabella mushrooms, mozzarella and feta, and it was also very good. I didn’t taste the pesto much but that’s likely because I had so many other things on it. Their fries are baked rather than deep fried, and have a nice texture with no nasty shards to avoid. For 99 cents I got three brownie bites, and wow are they amazing, fresh from the oven; I’ll be getting those every time. As a bachelor I greatly appreciate a place with made to order slices. I finally have a quality place to satisfy my pizza craving without having to pay for a whole pie or find someone to split one with.

Pie Hole’s delivery service has improved dramatically. A few months ago they were royally screwing up delivery orders(once our pizza arrived two hours late), but this weekend our pizza was delivered right on time! Although delivery has improved, there is a discrepancy between online and phone orders. Large GF crusts aren’t an option online, but they are an option if you call to place the order. Pie Hole is delicious. The toppings are fresh and the sauce is just right. They offer a fabulous gluten free crust that would make any person with celiac blush. It’s a fun BYOB date night joint too.

Angry«Vegan» Pesto Warning — Update and reason for changing the rating. I emailed the general info and the owner responded quickly and with legit sympathy. They are actual removing items with the same name from the vegan and gluten free menus to help avoid errors and adding more options with new names. Also they’ve started to talk to staff about folks with special diets. Yes I’ll try and review again. — I ordered called in an order for what was supposed to be a Vegan Angry Pesto and it turned into a train wreck of an experience. I asked several times on the phone about it being vegan as listed on the website. The order was supposed to take 30 – 45 minutes. When I arrived after 45 minutes I asked if I could wait another 10 minutes. At this point the person at the register was super sweet and offered me a drink. Honesty so nice this review would have been about that. When I got out of my car with pizza I grabbed a slice and bit into it. Realizing it wasn’t vegan at all. When I called the first thing I was told was the Angry Pesto isn’t vegan. This led to a fairly long conversation with me explaining that I am reading directly from the website several times. I read verbatim the description«Angry Pesto We kick the boring „meat and mushroom“ in the ‘Hole. Sun-dried tomato pesto sauce with crushed red pepper flakes, Boca ground soy burger crumbles and thick-sliced ‘shrooms. Topped off and baked golden with Daiya vegan mozzarella.» And was told a vegan pizza like that could be ordered, I had to reiterate that no this is what«YOUR» website says. I was told the website is wrong. Finally I was offered other food. I said I want my money back and the pizza I was supposed to have. Twice I was offered a medium but was finally offered my pizza and the refund. I was told it would be another 30 – 45 minutes since they had pizzas ahead of me. I was stunned. I didn’t make this mistake. I was hungry, really really hungry. The other thing that sucked was I has also used a gift card so I am also out the money for that which I won’t get back. If you have any special diet needs please make them really, really clear.

Oh, Pie Hole… you’re so good! This is a must have if you’re around the Lakeview/Boystown neighborhood. The food is good, it’s quick and it’s super cheap. If you’re cheap, hungry or drunk — this may be the place for you.

The absolute best for pizza. Thin crust that crispy. Lots of ingredients. And they regularly have sriracha. Parking can be tough at their 2 locations but it’s worth it.

My girlfriend and I live right around the corner and have come hear often. I personally think the prices are a little high but they use fresh ingredients and make a good pie so I don’t mind. Just today we were headed home from vacation and decided to order ahead and pick it up. We flew into O’hare and caught the blue line. At Jefferson park we called and we took about an to get home after catching the Addison bus. When we arrived they apologized for being busy and began to starting making the pie. I’m sorry but that’s well over an hour and if we had asked for delivery it would have been close to 2 hours.

I’m from New Jersey, this is THEBEST east-coast style pizza I’ve had since living in the Midwest for the past 7 years. I will be back again and again.

Inconsistent. We went in for a slice once and loved it. We ordered a whole pie last night, and it was like it was from a different place. The sauce was completely different, and full of thyme! It was inedible. Moral of the story: go in for a slice, but never get it delivered.

With a name like Piehole, you know it’s gotta be good. Well not necessarily, but it is! I was walking around Chicago and saw the Honey Badger sign and it grabbed my attention, enough to step inside and see what it was all about. Wow. Talk about a fun place. Every menu item sounded right out of a cheap gay porno. The puns and innuendos abound here ranging from the«tops» and«bottom» selection of items right down to the names of the pizzas such as GLBT and Buff Chick. Definitely catering to the gay male crowd here but as long as you can take a joke and aren’t offended by some of the insider references here you’ll have a great time. But how’s the food? Great. I got some of the signature pie holes(essentially round breadsticks) and the sauce and dough was great. Greasy and filing(no pun here – maybe). Although I’m a vegetarian, the«After School Special» really caught my eye. Sausage and Marshmallow pizza really? It sounds crazy but I think it would work. Sweet and savory just works — think Hawaiian Pizza(canadian bacon, pineapple). The location is rather tiny so a threesome(or foursome if you are really lucky) is about all they can accommodate at a table. On this visit, I was filling my pie hole on my own. Although I got filled up, the fresh baked brownies and cookies looked and smelled amazing. Alas, no more time to ride the hershey highway on this visit but I’ll be back for a happy ending next time. You’ll leave smiling both because of the food and the punny atmosphere here.

WARNINGTOVEGANS: Sometimes their pesto is NOT vegan. You have to check and double check if the pesto sauce they have actually has dairy in it or not, even though it’s advertised as vegan on their website. I ordered for pick-up, but I was going to have to wait another 10 min once I arrived. I double checked if the pesto was vegan, and the staff had to check and said no. I then had to wait 25 min for them to make a new pizza with a regular sauce. Otherwise, the pizza is okay… The sausage is just Boca crumbles, which are very salty. We were very disappointed that the pesto turned out not to be vegan, as we were very excited for it. Will probably not go back because it’s not worth the effort to ensure that the pesto I’m getting is actually vegan.

Delicious pizza, good balance and very fresh. They have a wide range of standard and somewhat elevated toppings options. The cheese is nicely melted, the crust is perfectly browned, and you can tell that these slices have not been sitting around in a warmer waiting to be returned to the oven for sixty seconds. That makes a big difference in quality; freshness is key. I don’t know what kind of mozzarella they are using, but it is the best; when is the cheese ever the highlight of the pizza? The sauce is a little bland and tomato-ey though. The crust is drier and crisper than typical New York style, but the thickness and density are very similar. The quality of the toppings is another strong suit, practically unique among by-the-slice shops. Freshness too. Did I mention freshness? On my last visit I ordered portobellos and I saw the cook take a whole mushroom cap out of the cooler and start slicing it. Service is usually genial but a little careless bordering on absent-minded. Table/counter space goes unbussed for long stretches of time. Last weekend, they crossed up the ingredients on my slices then brought them out in a bag even though I had never been asked«for here or to go?» And when I took the slices out of the bag and started eating them right in front of the employee, he didn’t comment. So, maybe this is a better place for takeout, as there is also limited seating and sometimes the music is cranked past stadium level. Based on product alone, this is a worthy competitor of Dimo’s in this vicinity, and that is saying an awful lot. I’d say come to Pie Hole when you want custom slices and go to Dimo’s when you want to indulge in their delightful toppings combinations. Or flip a coin, because both are excellent.

Been here several times, the staff always recognizes me and says hello. It starts off with great atmosphere. The music is consistently amazing. WiFi is free, so you can set up and get some online errands done while enjoying your lunch or dinner. I love the custom order slice concept because you can order not only to your personal taste, but also to your appetite at the time. BYOB is always a great bonus! Well managed, well carried out concept. Absolutely love this place.
