Stopped in for a lunch special and was utterly disappointed. Rice were unflavorful, meat was burnt. Was also disappointed with the service. Not recommended.

Excellent. Its not a Middle eastern establishment, but the Meditarranean food is as good as it gets. I had the chicken shawarma in a bowl of hummus which came with tahini and pita bread; the pita was grilled and warm as it should be(not micro-waved from a packet as in some establishments in the loop), and the hummus was just right too. One strange thing was that it was totally empty; I don’t know if they mainly do delivery, but there was nobody else despite a nice enough seating area. In any case, I’ll definitely be going back; highly recommended.

Not a bad stop for a quick meal. I would rate the food 4 out of 5 but the massive portion in $ 10.99 combination surely earns an extra star. Over all good option if your craving some meditaranian food especially if your in the neighborhood as all other options are limited to indian/Pakistani cuisine.

–3 is the real score IF I could… so, let’s discuss: Having done some groceries on Devon Ave. my wife and I decided to have Saturday lunch at 330pm at a place different and new. Voila! We ended up here at the Pita Xpress that was brand spanking new. Walk in, greeted very nicely, looked at the menu and wanted to order everything because guess what? It was Middle Eastern food. Being on Devon Ave. in the Pakistani/Indian area I did not expect this at all. Being a lover of Middle Eastern cuisine I was so happy. Moving on, we ordered: I ordered a large hummus, a Mix Grill plate, and my wife ordered the Chicken burger combo that comes with fries and pop. We sit down, clean and brand new seating area. We wait for the food to come out. There was only one cook and only one waitress working. So she brings out a salad, a chicken soup, some pita, and the yogurt. We begin to taste the salad: not bad; the yogurt: pretty good; the soup: weird and not tasty. The hummus comes out: it was from a can and you could tell because it had a really bad after taste. The tahini sauce and hot sauce were both watered down so much that you could not even taste them properly. You would have to empty out the bottle half way to taste it. Our food comes out: Mixed Grill: the rice were a bit old, the kabab was burnt at the edges, the chicken shawarma was not«shawarma» and was burnt more. So, right away I wasn’t satisfied with this cooking. My wife’s burger and fries comes out and as she begins to eat it the bun was rock hard. YES! I am not exaggerating. So we call the girl and as my wife is explaining, she does not understand and doesn’t believe her so she TOUCHES the burger with her hands and is squeezing it. The waitress goes back, talks to the cook and comes back apologizing saying that it just happened to be my wife’s LUCK. At this point, I’m disgusted. She comes back with another bun, not toasted or even warmed and begins squeezing it to show us that this was better. Again, no gloves, just bare hands. My wife is disgusted and sends back the food saying to cancel and she doesn’t want it anymore. So we ended up sharing my dish was not so good anyways. The waitress comes back with 4 falafel to make up for her burger. Guess what? They were so bad that they tasted like soap and had a worse after taste than the hummus. We ate one each and remembered that we had ordered 12 falafel to go. As we got up to pay we asked the girl to cancel the 12 falafel and she states that it was already made and that we HAD to pay and take them. So after going back and forth, we paid, took the falafel and left. Lesson: their food isn’t tasty, has bad after taste, and isn’t worth the money. They do not speak english very well and therefore, communication is a HUGE issue. GOATOWNRISK! My recommendation: DONOTVISIT

Oh yeah! I was planning on trying some more Indian food since I’m new to this area and while walking down Devon passed this place and kept walking. On further thought I decided I really wanted to try this place so I did an abrupt 180 and went back to indulge in what I hoped would be at least good food. They exceeded my expectations. I took the easy choice and went with a shawarma beef combo plate and everything on it was very good. I really can’t think of one thing to complain about. Upon entering I noticed the restaurant was nice and clean and I was immediately greeted with a smile and really felt welcome there. They get strong kudos for making such a good first impression on the customer service side of things. I even asked a question that some people might have considered a fairly dumb one and the young man who answered it did so with warmth and no hint that he thought it was wasting his time. Since this place is near where I now live I’m sure I’ll be stopping in on a pretty regular basis. Stop in and check this place out. If you’re looking for a break from all the Indian food on Devon this will be a welcome break. Keep up the good work Pita Xpress Grill!

We tried to order delivery, waited an hour and 15 minutes, then when we called the person on the phone first had no idea what we were talking about, then had no delivery drivers, then said our food had been sitting out in someones car… NOWAY. This place is a joke with morons working.
