Glad to have this great place back! Matt was excellent and took care of us. Try the chicken ravioli which is their best meal!!!

In my opinion, the food wasn’t very good. Service and atmosphere are why I’m giving it 3 stars. Also, the setup of the restaurant is confusing

Growing up, I remember going to the Pompei location in Schaumburg. Since then, I’ve moved, and that location is closed, but this is similar to what I remember. I would describe this place as an upscale Sbarro. That is, most all the menu items(or samples of them) are in a glass display case. Unlike Sbarro, you can get items like calamari. There are also daily specials that can help you decide what to get based on price, if seeing the items doesn’t help. Recently, I got lemon chicken over spaghetti because it was a special. I wasn’t disappointed. The classier parts of what I don’t remember from childhood are the beer and wine options and the coffee shop area. In the coffee shop area, there are desserts. I’ve gotten the cannoli, which left something to be desired. There just wasn’t much flavor in the filling, felt sort of like a shell with ricotta in it. The gelato is good though. Overall, I like Pompei and want to give a solid 3.5 for decent food at fair prices. I think the format is great for picking up or eating in with a family. With the forced Unilocal decision of a 3 or 4, I’m rounding up based on service, as the cashiers have been prompt but also very welcoming every time.

Wow, what a disappointment, and I didn’t even have that high of expectations. I met a buddy here for lunch today, as it’s near his apartment. I took the Red Line to Belmont, and Pompei was an easy 3 block walk from the El. I ordered the Sausage and Ricotta stuffed pizza. What I got was a cold, tasteless waste of calories. First, yup, my «pizza» was a few degrees over ambient. The ricotta was congealed and cold, and the«crust»(I guess this is what the bread around the cold insides was) was room temperature. The sausage had NO taste whatsoever, nor did the red stuff that was supposed to be pizza sauce, but they provided something that looked like marinara sauce, so I figured I’d dip my stuffed pizza in this. Bad idea. The marinara-like red sauce must have been right out of the refrigerator, and like everything else, had no taste. No amount of grated parmesan, red pepper flakes, salt or pepper could save this mess. Under no circumstances will I go back to any of the numerous Pompeii restaurants. It’s obvious they just yanked my pre-made«pizza» out of the ice box, waved it across some warming device, plopped it on my plate, and collected our money. Seriously, I’ve had better pizza at a gas station… it’s embarrassing to even call this«Eye-talian» food, let alone an «Italian Restaurant, Sandwich Shop and Pizza Place». Good thing founder Luigi Davino is no longer with us, as he doesn’t have to see how far his once solid restaurant has fallen.

Great place for some affordable Italian. I ordered herb chicken ravioli and it was solidly good. Would recommend. The serving size is just right for one person. In addition to the ravioli, I’ve had their pizza strudels in the past as well and they’re okay. Nothing to rave about. They redid this location with some modern furniture and upgrades a few months back and it looks great. Parking is a lil difficult but you can take public transportation to get here. It’s right off the Wellington brown line stop.

Yes, Pompei is the best value for the money in town. The food is authentic, fresh, and flavorful; a no frills cafeteria style restaurant where you can eat at your leisure in an unpretentious atmosphere.

Been coming here for quite some time. My last visit I gave 5 stars. I usually ordered pizza and maybe deserts. I I have had problems the last couple of times I have ordered pasta. I asked the manager and told him the portion sizes were small and not consistent even when I ordered 2 of the same dinner side by side. I also must have picked up the wrong persons order another time. I was kindly trying to tell him my issues I was having and he didn’t care. He in fact walked away. I paid for my current pasta and went to eat it and it’s dry dry dry. The manager said the vodka sauce was $ 3.00 extra but the sauce didn’t even cover all the pasta even if I moved it around the to go box. Management didn’t care-I will give someone else my business.

I really wanted to like this place, but everything we had was not great. We had the po boy sandwich which had absolutely no flavor. The fish special with pasta that was swimming in sauce. The sauce was mostly lemon juice and butter, and tasted off it really ruined the dish. We also ordered the asparagus salad, and the asparagus was not fresh, and even though it was topped with olive oil and cheese it still wasn’t edible! Because we were starving we decided to head over to the desert/gelato bar in the back we got the fresh made cannoli, but the filling had no flavor it was just flavorless crème inside the shell. I was extremely disappointed! There are soo many better places in the area! Instead head over to fish bar, DMK, or kirkwoods!!!

Lasagna. Mmm. That’s what this place is about in my book. On the surface, it’s one of those places where you can get a slice of pizza that they toss into the oven to warm up when you order. Ain’t nobody got time for that. But opt for the lasagna and you’ll be in pig out heaven. Just as quick as a reheated slice, you’ll get a two-inch thick slab of noodles, meat, cheese, and sauce that’ll make your belly scream with delight. For about $ 9. Dig it.

I have been going to this location for a number of years now. Anyways, I went here with my mother and some friends. The staff here always treats you so nice like your a family member. even the new people I take to this restaurant always say how welcoming and happy everyone is. Its even a major plus that they have parking in the back for customers who don’t want to pay for parking on the street. My personal favorite is the mela Verde salad with Maria’s vinaigrette dressing. When I say this salad is everything to me, its a light salad yet full of so much flavor. Even my guy friends that are(meat and potatoes kind of guys) say that they have the best salad at pompei. My last visit I notice that they have recently renovated the place so it looks very stylish and clean. They have a café/gelato area that looked very put together. I I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I think I need a member card for the number of times I have went to this location. If your looking for good Italian food then this is the place for you to go.

Great Italian food that is made fast. The employees are super friendly and treat you really well. I left feeling full and happy. Best customer service I have had in a while. The place is clean and the music is good, give it a try when you can!

Five star YUM. SO happy this location is open again! Definitely my favorite To-Go pasta in the city. It was one of my staples when I lived in this hood eons ago and continues to be a great place to visit. The Herb chicken ravioli in creamy tomato sauce is so good that when I visit a friend out of town, she asks that I bring her a container whenever I visit. :)

Date of Visit: 06.09.15 This is a series of restaurants that have been around for ages. This particular location, located across the street/near the Illinois Masonic Hospital was closed once before, but then reopened; I’m not really sure why as it did not look like anything changed. If you need to get your pizza-fix, and just want slices versus a whole pizza, then this could very well be the place for you. From the menu(below), there is a wide variety of pizzas, salads and other great stuff to eat here! On this particular visit, I had two slices(which they cut into two), the Sausage/Mushroom, Green Pepper and just a plain Sausage; along with their Garlic Bread. Personally, I know they are trying to make money — but I think the prices are a tad high. For the entire meal including drink, I paid $ 15.25 — I’m thinking maybe more around the $ 12 mark would have been about right. It’s a clean restaurant — they take this seriously as I have been here twice since this review, and I see people cleaning all the time. The staff is friendly and more than willing to clear your table for you as they tend to bring out many plates depending on what you’re eating. Final Word Would I go back? Yes Do I recommend? Yes My Grade: 3.75 out of 5(mainly because of pricing)

Please go to this Pompei and not the one on Taylor! Totally different experience as far as food quality and customer service. Anyways, I went here with my mother and sisters on Mother’s Day and they gave all of us a flower! They were so welcoming and happy! The manager also made it a point to come talk to us which we appreciated. Can’t exactly remember what we all individually got but I remember all of our dishes being tasty. We were all definitely full and satisfied after leaving. I also loved the complimentary bread that was given to our table. We also ordered the banana bread cake and it was sooooo tasty. Also, I remember the fries being really really good. Not to mention, they recently renovated the place so it looks very stylish and clean. They have a café/gelato area that looked very put together. I would definitely return and would recommend this for solid Italian food!

The food at Pompei makes me sad. I was sad when I opened my wallet and had to shell out almost $ 40 bucks for a tiny piece of pizza, a spaghetti and meatballs, an order of fries and some dessert. I was even sadder after eating my dry tasteless pizza. The pasta was forgettable and who could screw up fries? I have a major sweet tooth and always crave something sweet after dinner. This place has a cute little dessert bar with a variety of delicious looking treats so I was willing to overlook the sad food for a great dessert. I should have saved my $. The cheese cake was ok-nothing to write home about. The cannoli was no good. It didn’t really have any flavor. This place is great for families with kids though. I’ll stick to the dozen other great restaurants in the area.

Was incredibly disappointed by this place. I thought it was over priced for the quality of the food and for the casual atmosphere. Soupy marinara sauce and bland meatballs. Made Olive Garden seem like a Michelin star restaurant. Total meh. Would be okay in the suburbs but with all the delicious restaurants in a block radius save your money, I mean DMK is right across the street.

I love this locations’ new look. It looks very clean and organized well. I ordered a chicken parmigiana strudel or what looks like a calzone. It is breaded chicken breast with tomato sauce and cheese. It was perfectly cooked with a nice crispy outside layer and tender chicken on the inside. The staff is very attentive and makes sure that you have everything you need and they will also come to your table to see how everything is going. I will be back again to try the desserts as they had a cannoli that was calling my name. They had a sign by the cashier that said — Waffles, which I thought was pretty interesting for this place. Will definitely be back.

It’s open again! This is the best Italian American fast food you can get. I like the atmosphere, all renovated. Pizzas are good, pastas are good. My favorite is the lasagna. All is good! Good prices, kind service. I hope they will stay for a long time, this time.

New pizza and attached gelato spot that just opened up again for the second time. Ordered the works pizza strudel and a small order of the Cesar salad. The strudel was good, came with enough inside compared to the wrapped breading. The Cesar salad tasted fresh and defiantly had enough dressing on it. Right when you walk in it’s easy to order lunch because they have all the options in front of you. It’s cute, clean and upbeat restaurant. You can really tell they go the extra mile to make people feel welcomed. Had to order some dessert comes with 4 scoops per serving so asked her to give me 4 random ones. They were all pretty good. Lemon and blue were my favorite but I’m pretty sure all the other ones are great too. There is another location on Taylor street, pretty sure it’s the same owners. So far my experience was good, obviously need to try a couple other things on the menu before I can really judge the food. For the cost you defiantly get enough food to fill you up!
