recently I had my daughters VW repaired here for 3 issues and they got everything just right. i’d had another mechanic but circumstances made me search for a european import specialist closer by
andy gave us helpful tips too. he’s open to 6pm and has some saturday hours too. credit cards accepted but I think I got a discount for paying cash. oldest model year they service is 1996 I think.
i’m not too surprised there’re 8 5-​star reviews, but 40 reviews not recommended? what is that, that’s confusing! is it the service or the reviewer that’s being reviewed?

I’m so glad I found this place. My air conditioning was blowing warm air and I figure I needed a re-​charge. I called a couple of places I usually go to for my BMW issues, however none of them could take me, they were all too busy. I found this place on Unilocal and I called, I spoke to Ana and explained to her my situation. She asked Andy, the mechanic, if he could take care of me and he said yes. As I arrived, it seems this shop was busy themselves as Andy was working on cars and was with a customer. Ana explained to me that although they were busy, a re-​charge isn’t a grand task that Andy can’t do in between working on other cars. Perfect!!! Now if only the other places think the same way. To add icing on the cake, they also do everything else here such as oil changes, troubleshooting for BMW or other European cars. Ana even offered to put me in their book for future endeavors. The price I was charged for the service was very reasonable; they certainly have my business and I plan to come here for all the needs of my BMW. Thanks Ana and Andy, you guys are awesome!

I have been to many, many repair shops in Chicago and surrounding suburbs in 11 years of driving, with four cars. All of them giving me exasperatingly weird problems that can’t be fixed at home. Most of these many shops have ranged from absolutely awful places that couldn’t be duplicated if they tried, to mediocre garages that want to fix everything else except the actual problem.
Precision is among the most highly-​regarded repair shops that I’ll patronize.
Precision is very honest, patient, and do not play games whatsoever. This repair garage is one of the few that I can give a five-​star review to, without hyperbole.

Amazing service and polite people… I bought a used 540i and took it here to get my fluids all changed and to have some checks done; and here is what I received: Oil Change, full car overview, three replaced bulbs, and a list of items that I will be wanting to keep my eye on. All I paid for was an oil change, and the owner reviewed the seriousness of each issue found, and gave me ball park repair costs so that the issues I wanted to fix I could be intelligently approached and some really good info on my car.
With over 180,000 miles on my speed demon, there is no one else that I trust to do repairs on my car.

It’s hard to find a mechanic that you can trust and Andy is one of those rare finds. This car is my first «nice» car and I had been taking it to the dealer thinking that they would take the best care of it. After I discovered one of the dealer’s workmen had been taking a nap in my car while I left it there for service I needed to find someone else to take care of my car. Precision Auto is clean, honest, reasonably priced and nice people. I wish I could give them more stars!

Outstanding BMW service at reasonable prices. They used quality parts and oil. Their customer service is friendly and great. The wife of the owner offered to walk across the street to Dunkin Doughnuts to buy me coffee. The oil change, with TOTAL Synthetic oil, quality filter cost half as much as at my BMW dealer. They didn’t try to flush my engine, change my coolant, replace my springs, or any of the other repair shop scams most shops try. I trust them and will not take my BMW to any other shop.

When the engine light comes on right before the holidays, I think that your stomach is bound to do a flipflop. Panicked, I called my Dad. He was able to identify the trouble after a long series of questions. But since he was thousands of miles away, I needed to find a local mechanic to fix the problem.
I called the dealership to be quoted only at outrageous sum. When I called here, the estimate was half of the dealerships. I decided to roll the Unilocal dice and brought my gigantic SUV aka «Big Al» here.
The service was top notch. They took care of Big Al and even identified a second problem. Since the second problem was going to cost $$$, they suggested that I wait until after the holiday’s. I am glad that they didn’t try scare tactics like I’ve experienced from other mechanics in the past. I would definitely go back… although my fingers are crossed that Big Al will not need a follow-​up visit.

Recently had major overheating issues with a BMW 3 series, after getting some scary estimates and outrageous hourly rates, I Unilocaled this place and took my car in. $ 100 and a few hours later my car was repaired! I’m happy to have found an honest, professional mechanic-​AT LAST! It’s been over a month now and my car is running smooth.

At last, an intelligent, honest mechanic in Chicago… huzzah!
I came upon Precision Auto after failing an emissions test. I dropped the car off around 6 in the evening, and got a call from Andy the next day around noon. He had diagnosed the problem as a defective oxygen sensor. I had the part ordered and a few days later, I went to pick my car up. Andy spent a good chunk of his time after his normal closing time to give me instructions on how to get my engine’s on-​board computer settings to reset, so that I could pass the emissions test. He recommended using a testing device that could plug into the car and would signal when all the settings were reset, so I gave him a deposit on the device, drove around until it showed everything was ready, and took it back to Precision Auto.
One of the settings was still not reset, which he couldn’t figure out, so he said that I should just drive my car normally and then take the emissions test in a week or so. That afternoon, while I was out, he said he had called the Illinois agency that deals with the emissions testing program and they confirmed that having 5 out of the 6 OBC settings reset is sufficient to pass the test, so that afternoon I took the test and passed.
In addition to the above, he also discussed known transmission problems with my make & model car and warned that I could experience an expensive, catastrophic failure at some point, which is good to know, as I might now be in the market for a new car.
