This is the place to stop in after having a few cocktails in Edison Park because it’s like the only place open at 3 am. I’ve had the hotdog that comes with fries, the Italian beef dipped with hot peppers, & the mozzarella sticks which aren’t breaded but inside an eggroll instead. Everything tastes great, but at 3 am what doesn’t.

Open late, stopped by after a night at the Country bar around the corner, glad for a easy something to eat after a night of music. The hot dogs were fine, fries and fast food, service was no more than a transaction, not bad not exceptional, just what you would expect from a hot dog stand. I ‘m glad this place is open late and available in the Edison Park night life. Will be back many late nights up coming in 2016.

Stopped for a late afternoon hot dog. As I was approaching the front door someone stepped out and lit a cigarette in the tiny door way. I greeted that person and As I started walking in that person wouldn’t move out of my way. Turns out he worked there. I apologized in a jokingly manner for entering as he lit up(being a former smoker I felt his pain). «Whatya need» I immediately said«I’m good. Thanks anyways». One of the most obscene encounters I have ever experienced form an employee/possible owner. Douche bag. I’ll stick to Brandy’s.

now that i got your attention with a five star rating, here’s what i really have to say about the hot dogs… It’s truly amazing how BAD the hot dogs are. I wish I was a famous critic like Robert Irvine so I could say it on my show. Every time I’ve tried to eat the hot dogs they were terrible. Shame on the owner for serving such garbage to people and taking their money. WORSTEVER! GARBAGE! CRAP!!!

This place has a great Chicago dog and fries, and you can’t beat the price! I’m obsessed with their Snappy Sticks(mozzarella cheese in an egg roll wrapper!!!)! Foods always ready quick! I always leave really satisfied!

Got an Italian Beef, dipped, with cheese. Sandwich was light, but it fills you up. Beef was flavored very well, and the bread(always important) was great. Beef and a good portion of fries for 7 bucks is worth it for this beef sandwich. Definitely worth the stop!

The older woman who was working here Sunday 9⁄20 at 5 p.m. was incredibly rude. We live down the street and stopped in for a hotdog and this woman acted like we didn’t have the right to come in there and order food. We had a very simple order and were in and out so I’m not sure what her problem was, but she won’t have to worry about seeing us again. You have just lost potential lifelong customers who live in the area. Nice work.

The place is so small, blink and you’ll miss it but you really don’t want to miss it. The food is fresh and tasty, the portions are more than adequate for the price, and the mozzarella sticks are like nothing you have ever had before. As opposed to the heavily breaded mozzarella sticks you get everywhere else that are more breading and grease than anything else, these are tons of mozzarella wrapped in a thin wonton wrapper that is crispy and not oily and ups the ante on the cheese factor. Simply delicious. The hot dogs are Chicago dogs, good sized and Chicago toppings right down to the neon green relish and sprinkle of celery salt. This is a tiny little hole in the wall but boy is it worth knowing about. On Saturday night /Sunday morning — they’re open up to 3:30 a.m. and very little in the Edison Park neighborhood is open quite that late. Well worth a visit & I will be going back. Quick note, if you are coming during the daylight hours, be super careful about the parking as this stretch of Northwest Highway is notorious for workers from LLC waiting for anybody to walk into a store so they can pounce on you with a hefty ticket. Just saying, definitely go there but watch where you leave your car!

It’s pretty hard to mess up a Vienna dog, and this joint didn’t disappoint. Fries and a jumbo hot dog was $ 5.25, very tasty. Fast service also. My only problem was the guy at the counter looked at me like I walked into a restaurant in 1950’s Alabama and demanded a seat.

Edison Park is almost the suburbs, but Snappy Dogs are about as downtown as it gets. They’re classic Chicago style completely down to the celery salt. The perfect craving killer whether you’re drunk from the nearby bars or just got a hankerin’ for a hot beef injection. Besides the dogs they do this amazing Irish Beef Sandwich, which is an awesome twist on the classic Chicago Italian. It’s basically a Ruben on a pretzel bun slathered with cheese and Thousand Island dressing. The other notable menu item is the snappy sticks which are the offspring of an egg roll and a mozz stick. Dunk those babies in a side of marinara and you’ll be a happy camper. Overall, the place packs big flavor into a hot dog stand and the owner is pretty darn funny. If you’re up this way and pop in I’d bet you’ll be a fan.

Rosa J., a.k.a., «the Italian Beef Sandwich Junkie,» re-surfaced this afternoon. She went on and explored a little bit of Edison Park with«Chicago» on her mind… (singing in progress) Yeah, I’m leaving… on the CTA to… the Snappy Dog! I was somewhat disappointed that this place had no seating area. If you wanted to dine in, you would have to stand using the table along the window. Well, I was already here. Luckily, the Edison Park Metra station was near within one(1) block west to the Snappy Dog. I took my Snappy Stix, Italian Beef sandwich with hot peppers, and fries(all for $ 10.25) to the station. The order was processed so fast; within five(5) minutes, I was handed a brown bag with all of my goodies. The Snappy Stix, «Mozzarella sticks with a serious identity crisis,» disguised themselves as Chinese egg rolls. They were huge! One(1) order would come with three(3) of these sticks, and they could potentially fill you up if you weren’t hungry at all. Now onto the entrée, the Italian Beef sandwich hot peppers were made with«home-style taste.» The beef wasn’t the most tender that I’ve ever consumed, but they reminded me of how Mom fixed her beef. I felt nostalgic after the first bite. Anyways, it was worth of travel on foot, fighting with the annoying intermittent rain. At the end of my meal, the rain cooperatively stopped. Thank you, Edison Park Metra station and the Snappy Dog. I spent some quality«me» time quietly on my day off.

This place is a great addition to Edison park. Nice simple menu and a great hot dog at bat. The homemade mozzarella sticks are the bomb. I have tried almost everything on the menu with no disappointments. The owner and crew are a really great group of guys always doing their best to please. I will most defiantly be a long time customer. I actually told the owner and when I retire I’m going to buy this place. Just to give me something to do and to bring more enjoyment to our little slice of Mayberry, Edison Park.

Shit. What else needs to be said about this place? Some of the worlds friendliest people with the most heartwarming personalities combined with an amazing customer experience and unreal simple food. Just at the end of the Chicago city limits lies a food Sanctuary not to be missed. Snappy stix are a must obviously.

This is a standing room only, hole in the wall, hot dog place that serves up some interesting sides too. Passed by a number of times before finally stopping in and was pleasantly surprised at how decent it is. You walk in, there is a menu on the wall to the left and the tiny counter to order food and that is about it. So décor is nothing to write home about. But the Snappy Stix are mozzarella sticks like you have never had them before. Huge, melty, and served with a side of marinara sauce, these things could potentially be a meal on there own. The tamales were not great, tiny and they fell apart really easily, I would skip those. Hot dogs, also great. And they serve Green River! Always a plus. Great place for a quick in and out meal with no frills.

Amazing food. Highly recommended the Moz sticks. They are not your traditional Moz sticks these bad boys are the size of two highlighters taped together. Snappy Dogg its self is OK. I for one am a Chicago guy prefer mustard only. 5 stars for Moz sticks tho.

The Snappy dog is an awesome spin from the original hotdog as its longer and thicker. If your in the are make sure you stop in here for the snappy dog and if your a fan of mozzarella sticks then definitely try the snappy sticks, it mozzarella cheese inside an egg roll type crust!

Its a cool little place in the center of the towns downtown. Would recommend just ordering on the go since there is not much room inside. Since almost everyone on here raved about the mozzarella sticks I wanted yo try them. They were delicious! Its mozzarella inside a egg roll shell kinda thing. Who ever came up with that idea was a genius. Also had a chicago hot dog which tasted pretty good as well. I took mine with tomato, which was pretty big, pickle spear, mustard, green relish, onions. The fries came with the hot dog which were put on top of the hot dog inside the wrapping. The fries were not fresh cut but tasted ok. Its street parking which you have to pay for but you can find some free parking in the near by neighborhood.
