This place ruined my fiancé. He expects every gyro to be as good as this one. My god, it was to die for. I had a Greek salad with basically a plate of feta. The stuff I live for. Wonderful food, fast service, plenty of cheap beer and good drinks. People watch, or just watch the little bartenders do their thing. Either way, so good. Came here before a House of Blues show, best decision ever.

Great for simple drinks only. A place to hide while conducting business. Forgetabout the food, go to Lunch Specials in other venues. STEAK N EGGS($ 8) — decent guy portion, serves 1. No option in steak temp. Good size steak but the meat quality is questionable. A weird taste on potatoes. Good eggs. COFFEE($ 2.75) — overpriced. Generic and bottomless cup is optional due to counter service. You have to go to the bar for refill. FRAPPE($ 4) — on menu but they don’t have it. :-( SERVICE — decent. Attentive. VENUE — tables and high chairs are cramped. With winter coats, absolutely no space. In the summer time, the windows open and it feels like you are in Europe.

Fun atmosphere for a group of friends! Only problem is the bartender has a bitchy rude attitude. Customer service is lacking at the bar!

I stopped here for breakfast on Christmas morning. As the only place open in the area, there could be no expectation the food would be any good. Why should they make the effort? But I had probably the best breakfast I have ever had in Chicago. The grill guy is a master. A life-changing gyro-and-feta omelet and real fried potatoes. You can call this a dive. I call it a rare slice of reality – an oasis in the ocean of fake crap in the near north/Michigan avenue area. And yes, as other comments have noted, the bartenders are beyond delightful.

Loved the atmosphere. It was really cool place. Beer was reasonably priced. Cocktails were a little outrageous. Service was good.

Great Dive Bar! I always stay in the loop and so I just walk a couple blocks to Snicker’s they have these Russian Hottie Bartenders and drink specials. I have met artists, CEO’s, and blue collar workers just getting off work at happy hour there. You just never know who you will meet and the juke box is rockin too. This is a must every time I go to Chicago.

Great bar(if like the dive-y look & feel) with cheap beer and 6 or 7 TVs that were playing all different football games last time I went in. I’ve never eaten here. Cheap beer in the River North area is very hard to come by, and I still can’t bring myself to just buy beer at a gas station and just drink it on the train. although everyone else seems to do it…

Decent dive bar in Chicago a couple of blocks from our hotel. In a high-priced city, it was great to come across this place. Service was fast and friendly, people were having fun and kept to themselves. TVs for games and a typical bar menu. Thanks for the beer!

We went here after a show at HOB… I’m always a huge fan of dive bars and we just wanted a cheap, cold beer. After reading reviews about everyone raving about how cheap it is– I have to admit I’m disappointed. Now, I don’t consider myself cheap. But when I see one $ on Unilocal!and read that it’s cheap, I get a little taken aback when I see that a draft 312 costs $ 7.00(and I know the fact that someone in my group drank a 312 likely discredits this entire review). I would expect to pay that or more at any restaurant in River North, but not at this place. I can still smell rancid sewer on my clothes, and after the sub-par service we received on a Tuesday night at 10PM I wonder why so many people rave about this spot.

Decent bar with great beer choices. $ 18 for 2 beers a komakozi and a jäger bomb. It’s not The Garage in Mobile Al but it will do.

Great bar, friendly staff… Didn’t get the chance to eat anything, Dirty martinis were good, not great. Atmosphere is «college like». Bartenders amazing!!!

This is the kind of neighborhood bar you wish was on your street. Full bar with a great selection and great service by very tall, pretty European blondes with cool accents, «you vant more vodka?» and they make a REAL cocktail, not the over priced, sissy drinks you expect in a tourist district. The food, right off the flat grill with lots of flavor, fresh ingredients and big portions. Good prices all around. I wound up there on a daily basis during my stay, it was addicting. Each time I sat at the counter, I met people from all over with great stories. This is a tiny place with a huge, welcoming, fun atmosphere with good food and drinks. Did I mention the drinks were cheap and good?

This is the definition of «dive bar»! As you know, I rarely give out 5 stars. This is a 5 Star Rating for the overall experience. This is a fun place for the after-work crowd or the tourist. Snicker’s is located on the coveted corner of Illinois and State Streets with a corner entrance and windows on both sides of which the State St. side opens up completely. You’re immediately drawn in by the noise and the place is always, always packed! Because it’s packed, and not very large, it’s impossible not to meet someone new. I’m not saying it’s a pick-up joint, but I’m not saying it’s not either!). I’ve met all sorts of people there. You won’t have the finest drink ever created there, nor will you have culinary orgasms from tasting their food. You shouldn’t. It’s a basic place with basic drinks, and basic food(burgers, gyros… that sort of thing) at absolutely fantastic prices. It’s an experience that’s fun and affordable. It’s the perfect, «go-to» place. If you don’t have a good time here, then see if you can have your lobotomy reversed. It doesn’t get any more Chicago than this.

I had walked by here quite a few times and was hoping this place would be my answer to Moe’s tavern on the Simpsons: a no-frills place to get my drink on, devoid of attitude. I came in on Sunday after July 4th. With the long weekend, the party was still going strong. Word to the wise: there is no a/c so it is best to grab a seat near the windows on a stifling summer day. Breakfast service was still going strong even in the late afternoon, with patrons nursing their hangovers in a dark, relatively quiet environment. The food didn’t look all that appealing to me. I wanted to go with the gyros but a look at the guy’s plate a couple of seats over showed congealed meat and not much in the way of add-ons(pita, sauces, etc.). Since I eat first with my eyes, I knew this wouldn’t be an option for me. Instead, I went for the Chicago-style hot dog($ 3.50 and otherwise unremarkable, although I did enjoy the lightly toasted bun). The people-watching was wide ranging– everyone from tourists, to rough looking characters and a guy wearing sockless loafers and downing Heinekens. Good to have finally satisfied my curiosity about this place.

Snicker’s is a great place to grab a drink mid-day or in the evening. Super casual place to hangout and chill. I’ve been there a handful of times and the same staff is always working. Always smiling, friendly, and she always remembers us. Which I think is very impressive because we are not regulars. The best time I had at Snicker’s was after the Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup rally last month. We stayed most of the night. Great music was playing, people were dancing, and everyone was having a great time. Definitely will come here again for a drink or two.

Centrally located in the near North on State St. and Illinois, Snickers is a fun dive bar. I recently whiled away an afternoon with a good friend here and the pretty Mexican bartender served up some awesome Margaritas. I recommend getting yourself a seat on the end by the window. With the window upon, there’s a nice breeze coming through. The juke box has some good tunes. Place fills up with the after work crowd… go and have fun.

What a perfectly dive-tastic bar in the midst of a very NOT divey neighborhood. When you get sick of fancy steakhouses and upscale everything, you can stop into Snicker’s for a dose of reality. The beer is cold and there are often specials. I haven’t eaten here… and I probably never will. It looks questionable at best. But for a totally chill bar that you could totally go to in your sweatpants, I’ll be back.

Reminds me of Billy Goat Tavern as a bar. Full service bar and grill, the grill is managed by the cutest much older man who looks scary at first but once you start talking with him he’s a charmer! I’d say much of the folks at the bar are regulars and the table customers are visitors… I’m a bar girl to learn the ropes. You will not be disappointed with the scantly clad bartenders you;ll be mesmerized into ordering more & more.

A local to the Chicago city directed us here and was very enthusiastic about this bar saying that we HAD to go there. Usually locals know best, so we listened to his tip and headed this way. There are lots of great bars in the area and I’m upset we chose this one… I was definitely disappointed by his recommendation. We had about an hour to kill before heading to the United Center for a hockey game. We ordered a couple of shots, then I got a rum & diet while my boyfriend ordered a Long Island Iced Tea. The Long Island was terrible, heavy on the coke, light on the sour mix, and strongly tasting of cheap tequila. My boyfriend had to ask for a little bit more of the sour mix to be added after we both struggled to slug down some of the terrible mixed drink. My rum & diet was pretty strong, so I wasn’t complaining. All of the drinks were really expensive as well. I understand that we were in the city but a $ 10 disgusting Long Island at a dive bar? No thank you! We also wanted to order some food but we were unable to order food because the bartender didn’t know where the cook was? Unprofessional if you ask me. Instead we were forced to drink on empty stomachs and that never ends well! The service was fine and the bartender was nice but I won’t be returning here.
