Don’t like this place. Getting my drink was fairly quick, got it within 3 min after my ordering took 2 minutes because there was a trainee behind the register, but barista didn’t read label properly and made my drink incorrectly but I was in a hurry so took it anyway. I have yet to find a consistent experience at a Starbucks in the area.

This is unfortunately now my new starbucks being across the street. In the last month or so ive been here, at least 4 times theyve made my drink wrong as I watch others have the same issue. A lot of product being dumped down the drain. The employees are pissy and complain, ive never seen anyone smile here and thats me coming in every other day. Ive had a few times ive been waiting at the counter to order and they completely ignore me and ask the person behind me what they want, like hello im standing at the register for a reason. Ive frequented many starbucks in many cities over the years, this has to be my least favorite. In reading the reviews im not the only one with bad experiences. If I owned this starbucks I would fire everyone and start with a new fresh team

Very bad Starbucks, slow with no customer service. Went a week apart and they hadn’t ordered something simple like a bagel. Not ever going again which is sad cause I liked Starbucks. I know think it’s worth the customer service at a small coffee shop.

This Starbucks is close to my house but I try to avoid this one at all cost. Like many people, I have an addiction… My addiction comes in the form of a Venti Soy, white mocha, stirred with whip. I get one everyday and I’m not afraid to admit it. I’m not a coffee snob… I don’t like Pete’s coffee or any of the other«real coffee» shops around Streeterville. I like Starbucks and that’s it. I don’t mind spending $ 6 a day on a drink because I used to work at Starbucks which helped pay for my college. So I truly appreciate everything the company does for its employees. Now for the review of this location. Thee employees… Are the most unmotivated, non-customer centric, horrible coffee barista’s I have ever experienced. Every time I come here it’s a minimum of 10 minutes in line to order my drink then 15 minutes in line to collect my drink which is usually made wrong. No one has 25 – 30 minutes to wait for their coffee in the morning. Need better employees at this location.

Worst location ever! Every time I order something they don’t have all the ingredients.

I’m new to the neighborhood and thought I would give this location a try to get an early start on my caffeine fix, rather than hit my usual location near work. Mostly this store looks and operates like any normal location — same offerings, speed, etc. However this location has missed the mark in three ways. 1. The a/c is not working properly and the store is a sweatbox, especially when busy and crowded. 2. The staff does not have the same interest as other locations I frequent to learn your name or preferences. It’s more of a get your $$$ and move you along process here. 3. Staff has zero interest in customer satisfaction. After purchasing an iced cinnamon dolce latte, the cashier gave me a card and told me that when I completed five purchases I could redeem the card for a free drink. So, after 4 more iced cinnamon dolce lattes, I request my free drink and they tell me that it can only be redeemed for plain iced coffee or iced tea. Even though the card was completed with iced lattes, it could only be redeemed for iced coffee. I tried again the next day with a different cashier and got the same denial. They agreed that it made no sense, but those are the rules. Rules before customer satisfaction at this location. Of course, when I turned in the card at the location at work, they told me it would be no problem. I’m very disappointed no one at this location was interested in resolving this minor issue. Obviously, I can afford my own lattes, but it would have been nice if someone would have made the minimal effort to do the right thing in this instance — we must be talking about pennies here. Needless to say, I have been recommending Dollop or the SBUX by work to my neighbors and friends who want a/c and a more personalized experience.

If you pay cash, watch your change! I have been short changed here twice by the cashier. First time she acted like it was a mistake and asked the manager to open the register once I pointed out I gave her a $ 20 for a $ 6 order. Second time she shorted me a $ 5 when she gave change back. I know the second time was intentional(if not both) because as soon as I looked up at her she knew I was missing a $ 5. I can not imagine how many people don’t check there change and get taken advantage of. I called the manager to say that there a problem with the cashier and it appears there has been nothing done. Big disappointment.

It’s hard to fall short of expectations at Starbucks. There is a consistent quality and taste to their products. This establishment is no different. What is surprising is that the service is slow. There are often multiple people behind the counter with long lines of customers and one staff member at the register and one making drinks. Definitely skip if you’re in a hurry

It’s ok! Just an average Starbucks. There are plenty outdoor seats. The indoor space is super small though.

About 15 years ago I frequented a Starbucks in the Mission District of San Francisco. It was the worst Starbucks I had ever encountered, but it was close to where I was staying. I complained(very politely) to the company about the filthy conditions of the store. Starbucks said it was because of the types of customers there, they tried to keep it clean, but my best option was to get my coffee somewhere else(at another Starbucks, of course). My reaction was to avoid Starbucks whenever possible. I have since found some great locations, a lot of OK locations, and a few mediocre ones. This one is the worst. It is a block from my home, so I go there occasionally. Until about 18 months ago, it was a great little shop, busy but comfortable and friendly. Then it changed management and it has been downhill ever since. I believe they use this one for training, because the baristas(and managers) seem to change monthly. About a year ago I complained to Starbucks that this location was usually dirty and that the staff did not seem to have any interest in keeping it clean. Starbucks Corporate’s response this time was that they couldn’t identify having a location at Ontario and McClurg. I guess I was dreaming. I have noticed a very clear deterioration the past few months. Today was my last visit. Apparently, there was a plumbing problem and everyone was told to leave. The guy at the table next to me was asking if he could finish his cup of coffee and the answer was«no, you will have to leave». The employee was extraordinarily rude to him. I was just amused thinking that Starbucks must have completely removed customer service training from their employee training. In any case, I left, along with the other half dozen customers who were told to leave in middle of drinking their coffees or eating the crap Starbucks calls«food»(including people on the outside tables who were told they couldn’t sit there any longer). I guess they didn’t want to pay the employees to keep the place open for another ½ hour if they couldn’t sell anything. Please, Starbucks, just shut this pathetic location down. There are now a number of options in the neighborhood and the comparison with this Starbucks should be embarrassing to the company. And get back to training your employees that companies stay in business only as long as they have satisfied customers.

Stopped in this afternoon for an iced coffee! Strong, hit the spot, just what the olé brain cells needed! Lots of seating here — with some outside on the sidewalk.

Today’s Starbucks stinks. It’s not just this store, but the complete switch to computerized machines and«calibration service contracts» that take away the human aspect… from labor right on through to taste. Go ahead, Starbucks, pinch your pennies and serve meager shots, but lose customers for good. I’ve been getting pretty crappy/weak coffee at Starbucks for the past year in one of their small-town shops. They always have the same excuse«it was just recallibrated»(as though that makes it okay that what used to be a good Americano at Starbucks now barely rivals the drip brew of an average diner?!). Just had the same crappy coffee experience at a Streeterville Starbucks this morning. Seems obvious they’ve gone that route to up the profit by reducing the pack of the grind for shots(if we want it stronger, we have to BUY another shot. What they don’t realize is that it’s STILL weak/missing full flavor). The weak shots could be because the machine’s grind isn’t fine enough, or it’s not packed tightly enough, and/or insufficient water temperature. Whatever it is, they’ve destroyed the product. And the fresh taste is GONE. Maybe the grind is done hours in advance. What is also obvious is a drop in patrons. The Streeterville location used to be twice as busy during the morning rush. Noticed 7-Eleven just across the street was crawling with business at the time — now THEY serve better coffee(than Starbucks), and it’s just the old BUN drip! Starbucks no longer means a great cup of coffee. They’ve broadened their focus to include so many menu items to attract a broad market segment/add-on purchases, there’s no longer a focus on great coffee. And bring back the community newspaper rack. That was a great feature. It added to the atmosphere of the shops. Let’s put it this way; we’ve never spent a dime on a NYT, but used to grab the crossword puzzle portion from a recycled issue to do the puzzle and buy additional cups of coffee and sometimes a couple biscotti. We spent more money for store products when there were free papers available.

Unfortunately this is the Starbucks closest to my work. They are always running out of wooden sticks, splenda, half and half, bagels, cream cheese, you name it and they run out of it. Even more frustrating is the inconsistency of drinks. The number of pumps put into a pumpkin spice latte or into any coffee drink depends on the time of day and the barista. Starbucks became as big as it is today because of consistency. Really, that is why any big food chain is successful. I never know what I am going to get when I walk out of here, which is why I started to go to other coffee shops in the area, even if it’s an extra 2 – 3 block walk. Luckily Julius Meinl and Café Decartes are in the area. Also, I don’t appreciate cash register employees coughing all over their hands before handing back my credit card or picking up my coffee cup. It is really unsanitary and I think re-training is needed at this store. Sorry to be blunt, but this is Starbucks. If I am paying $ 4 – 5 for a cup of coffee, I expect it to be clean, sanitary and consistent.

Terrible. I ordered something was charged 2x what it should cost and then when I asked about it, the barista repeated back a different order. When I corrected her she denied that was my order and demanded that she had repeated back what she had charged me for and that I had agreed. First of all that’s not true and second, she had quite the attitude about it. She refunded me but didn’t change my drink back to what it was that I ordered in the first place. I decided to cut my losses and go with it. I can understand overworked baristas and that the customer isn’t always right, but if I’m paying for a 4 $ coffee drink, I’d like to get what I ordered

This Starbucks is a mess. I’m not sure why I’m writing a review for a Starbucks anyways — but it’s been a disastrous experience here a few times now so I thought I’d share. The service is slow, they mess up your drinks(wrong milk, or wrong size). It’s sort of a small dingy environment with too many people crammed into the space. Dollop Coffee is nearby and much more spacious with better coffee.

Above average Starbucks! The baristas are always friendly here. It’s a pleasure to talk to them in the morning. It can get quite busy during morning rush hour, but the line always seems to move pretty quickly.

Boy, is it ever time for an update. This Starbucks used to be good, even very good. But over the past several months it has deteriorated painfully. Starbucks as a brand is still good, even better now that they’re helping baristas get college degrees, but this particular Starbucks has gone way downhill. I still go to Starbucks and I do so faithfully, but not this one. The service is consistently poor with an offensive mix of persistent attempts at up-selling and complete disinterest in friendly service. And the cleanliness I once found pleasing has gone by the wayside. I’m done with this shop.

This place is TINY, with barely a good spot to study, but it holds decent hours and it’s close to me… so i’ll take what i can get. Because it’s so tiny, it also feels louder than your average coffee shop.

I’m in love with this Starbucks location and come here all the time. I usually stop in every morning before work, and it gets crowded but they do a great job of keeping the line moving quickly. All the employees are really friendly and enthusiastic, and I think it’s awesome that they remember people’s names. Two thumbs way up.

It’s very difficult for me not to be a fan of Starbucks. This was my go-to spot at 6:30am during the days of my conference before boarding the shuttle which came at 6:45am or 7am. It was temperamental, but my service at this Starbucks was not! Great service, accurate drinks, and timely response. Happy to have found this during my short stay in Chicago.
