This pizza is every bit as good as the big dogs like Giardinos. Its just not in an extremely high traffic area. The deep dish is great.

Stefano’s is probably my favorite deep dish in the city(awesome crust), so if this review was based on the food only it would definitely be a 5-star. Also, I believe that you can request that your pizza(deep or thin crust) be made into the shape of a heart… so that is nice for V-Day or Anniversary occasions. I’m deducting the 2-stars for the strange vibe that I get from this place. We tend to be the only patrons in the whole place when going in to eat, which is weird to me. The wait staff is pretty slow and not very attentive, especially when there are no other tables to wait on. And lastly, unless it has since been corrected, be careful when paying with plastic. Instead of the normal last-4-digits, the receipt always prints your entire credit/debit card number on it. We have made a comment about it to the staff, but nothing ever changed.

My experience this weekend was just like many others on here recently — pretty darn bad service. Great tasting pie though — that’s why it still gets 2 stars. But unless you have a lot of time to kill and can generally tolerate extremely sub-par service I’d skip this place. A couple of notes on this weekend’s lunch: –we were the only people there at 1pm on a saturday. kinda weird –they have RC and Diet Rite instead of regular coke/pepsi. Ugh. Its tolerable, I suppose. –waitress acted like it was her first job. No personality, no checking on us for refills, inexplicably brought 1 straw to our table for our 3 beverages, then when asked, brought 1 additional straw. Are we trying that hard to save money? –she dropped off the check but never came back for my credit card. I finally walked to the front and the elderly lady behind the counter looked at my confused. Then the waitress came up to ring me out. We were the only table in the restaurant — she must have been taking a nap!

We had a horrible experience at Stefano’s. After waiting forever for our appetizer our pizza arrived first. They had forgotten to make the appetizer and, even worse, the pizza was not the one we ordered. Instead of a thin crust a thick crust pizza was served. I’m not sure how this happened as the waitress specifically confirmed with us when we ordered that we wanted thin crust. We refused the pizza but the waitress kept asking if we still wanted it. She just couldn’t take no for an answer. Since we were starving we did eat the zucchini sticks appetizer and it was very average. The waitress did not bring us our check and we had to walk to the counter to get her attention. Keep in mind that there was only one other party in the restaurant so she wasn’t that busy. Being new to the neighborhood we wanted to give Stefano’s a try. We will never go back. From the looks of the place, several people have also made that decision and it’s doubtful Stefano’s will be around for much longer.

I ate here for the first time about 3 years ago. Their deep dish pizza is very good… not the best I have had… but def good enough to continue to order it. Their thin crust is also very good, not too greasy. Appetizers are nothing special, but good nonetheless. I just don’t get how this place can afford to own a huge building. Every time I have come in to eat… there are no more than 3 or 4 tables occupied and this place can easily hold 150 people! I guess they do a big delivery service. The building goes waaay far back, but they never have any lights on in that section. The walls are lined with tons of sports pictures which is kinda neat. I have always had a pretty good experience here(with both service and food), but last time it took like 45 min for our THIN crust pizza, 20 min for our salads to come out(which were $ 6!!) and it was soooo cold in the restaurant that I ate with my coat on!

We have had Stefano’s stuffed pizza a few ways but would recommend the basil and fresh tomato. It was very tasty. This is an old style pizzeria; very authentic. The thin crust is still pretty thick. The dinner salad is fresh and basic. The inside seemed huge when we were there but might fill up when«the gang» finishes a softball game… A good place for pick-up and delivery.

Ordered delivery from Stefano’s for the first time ever – also first time ordering anything from here. Tropical deep dish with addition of green peppers – my favorite combo. They got it PERFECT. I usually trash the crust on deep dish pizzas, but I ate everything this time. Delivery took about an hour, but that’s to be expected during dinner time. Minus one star because the second time we ordered, they must have known we were hooked because there was very VERY little Canadian bacon, peppers and pineapples. Disappointing. Even my bf commented like he read my mind. I thought I was just being fussy. And delivery took a good hour and 15 minutes. I’ll give it another shot though.

Stephano’s is sort of a campy local pizza place. The walls are plastered with Chicago sports mementos and you almost feel like it could be the set for those old Super Fans(Da Bears) sketches on SNL. But whatever, you’re there for pizza and at least it’s not the trite rubber stamped faux neighborhood bullsh*t you’d get at Giordanos or Applebees etc. So I’ve been there 3 times and it’s really not that good. It’s not Bad. Just not great. I’ve had both deep dish and thin. The sauce is OK and the deep dish is not remarkable. It’s not that reasonably priced so I guess if you going to try and get some good deep dish go elsewhere. And if you just want some junk pizza there is a Little Caesars down the road.

Growing up we used to go here when it was still Giordano’s and they still made a pretty decent deep dish pizza. Then one day we picked up our pizza and from the first bite I knew something was different. This was not the Giordano’s pizza that I once liked, not even close. From the sauce to the crust — it was just all wrong. When I took a closer look at the box and the attached menu I realized we’d been duped! Giordano’s was now Steffano’s, and with the name change came a change in pizza goodness. Sorry Steffano’s, not a fan.

This was one of the oddest delivery ordering experiences in my life. I might be quibbling but it really stressed me out. Since my fiancé’s sister is on a gluten free diet, she was wanting to order the baked cheese fries with a couple extra toppings. We also wanted to order a stuffed pizza with garlic(it brings out the flavor in the sauce). Before we ordered the fries, we needed to make sure there was no flour in the recipe. I called the phone number and spoke with a man who barely speaks english. I asked him about there being wheat in the fries and he had no idea what I was talking about. I then asked about putting some garlic and olives on the fries and he thought I was talking about pizza toppings! He almost hung up on me as well. After a few minutes of bickering back and forth, the order was straightened out. The pizza was good and service was quick. The ordered was delivered in around an hour. We were scared that my fiancé’s sister would get sick due to the person on the phone not understanding what I was saying, but everything ended up ok — she even got her garlic and olives. The pizza was good except that the crust was slightly salty. If I have to order something like this again, I will make sure that my wishes are totally clear.

my boyfriend and I happened upon Stefano’s due to a horrible dinning experience at Pizza D.O.C. This fabulous pizzeria is often overlooked which is a shame due to the fact that it offers fantastic pizza(though not a vegetarian we are both a huge fan of the Parma Pizza ask for fresh garlic on a wheat crust) The sandwiches that are offered are just as delicious(the meatball sandwich is big enough for two people) For really great pizza, great service all at a great price you gotta give this place a chance.

I know I have heard a lot of people compare Stefanos to Giordanos, but that might be because this place actually was a Giordanos about 3 or 4 years ago. Overnight one day, the sign changed and it was now Stefanos. Surprisingly, the menu did not change much. I cant even recall if the pizza is any different as I havent been to a Giordanos in awhile. The pizza is pretty good, but like others have said, they are really pricey and greasy. So if your stuck in the neighborhood and need a quick bite, go for it!

I have been ordering Stephano’s for years and I just ordered a thin sausage pie on Saturday night. I haven’t had it for a while so I was missing my Stephano’s. Well, it was a hell of a lot greasier than I remember. They put so much cheese on their pizza it’s almost a sin. I seriously went through 20 napkins blotting my pizza before I ate it. I ate 2 squares and a tiny triangle piece and I was done. We ordered an XL for 4 people and we had a lot of left overs. The staff is friendly and the delivery guys are sweet. Order from Stephano’s and you could be waiting at least an hour. However, they told me an hour on Saturday and they showed up in a half hour! I never ate in at this restaurant, take out only. They also have a huge non-pizza menu too.

I thought the Meat Lovers’ deep dish I got was excellent. The service was friendly, but very slow from our waitress. The guy upfront made some sort of comment about us «being in a hurry» as we were waiting to take our credit card. Another guy working there got visibly mad at a woman who said that she was brought thin pizza instead of the deep dish she ordered. the rap is true: good food, questionable service.

All the pizza’s here are pretty good. Deep dish is very good. Greaser, cracker like crust. It is very similar to a Giordano’s if you like that pizza. Eating in is decent, the interior is very sports bar-ish.

The pizza is good. Very cheesy and the crust nice and flaky and doughy on the inside. I have no problems with the food here. BUT I DO have a problem with the owner or manager or whatever that big guys name is. H e is such a crab, and he yells at his wait staff in front of customers. That is soooo unprofesional and demeaning. I had to restrain my girl from going up to him and putting him in his place! go monsta go! He needs to get his head straight.

My most recent experience with these guys was enough to send me back to Giordano’s Chicago-style pizza for good. The pizza itself was fine, if a little burnt, but the guy answering the phone pretty much made me feel like I was bothering him by calling. I really hate that.

I think the pizza is overpriced. It’s «stuffed» style, as opposed to «deep dish» style. For those of you who don’t know the difference, «stuffed» typically has a sweeter sauce completely coating the top and a softer, gluteny crust. «Deep dish» has crushed tomatoes on the top and a crunchy crust. While I prefer the latter, Stefanos is my favorite«stuffed» pizza. It has just a little crisp to it and it’s got some kind of salty coating, which is actually a nice counterpart to the really sweet sauce. FYI, they make heart-shaped pizzas for Valentine’s Day, which is perfect for those of us who would otherwise be fine completely ignoring it.

Stefano’s was a Giordano’s for years, until the owner got tired of dealing with the Giordano’s folks and went his own way. But he didn’t go far. The menu is still pretty similar to the standard Giordano’s menu, as is the pizza. That said, the pizza is good. The crust is flaky and buttery, and the fillings are substantial. The sauce is very fresh, with chunks of tomato, and a sweet edge that might put some people off but which works for me. I generally get delivery from here when I order deep dish, and the service is great. Delivery takes a while, ’cause its a big honkin’ pizza, but it’s always hot. This is one of those places that has your info in its database, and I’ve got no problem with that. Yep, I’m still in the same place, send me pie!

I had my food delivered. Portion size was good, I ordered the Chicken Parmisian, but was kinda greasy, and it looked like it had been cooked in the flimsy foil tray with the flimsy lid placed on it right out of the oven. The cheese was hard by the time I got it. Probably won’t order from here again.
