Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and not a crazy crowded space. Go now — and get the fish tacos!

On our way back from Wiggly Field with our pups, my neighbor and I decided to treat ourselves to a frosty bevvie or two at Tavish. We asked the server(or was he the owner?) if our dogs could hang out with us in the outdoor area in front. «Only if they aren’t crazy,» he replied. After playtime in a dog park, we had some pooped pups on our hands. Perfect! We enjoy a couple of glasses of wine as well as the steak nachos. Odd combination, but it hit the spot. The server even brought out a water dish for Maggie and Lucy. They were very excited. Food and service was good. We enjoyed the atmosphere of a nice quiet neighborhood with friendly people passing by. I will definitely be back!

So I went back here with my sister because I was craving a burger and a beer outside. What a difference. The owner(same one who was so dismissive last time) was funny, personable, made really good food suggestions, and was social with us the whole time. maybe it’s hit or miss with him, but this most recent experience has made it worth it that I will be returning-expecting good food and good service.

Tavish is outstanding. I had the pleasure of dining here for lunch over the weekend, and the experience was nothing short of five stars. The service was great, even though I’m pretty sure there was only one guy working — taking orders, cooking, and serving, by himself. The food was fantastic — we had a burger and a chopped salad — both were great. Overall, this place is a gem. Wish I lived in the area so I could go more often.

I bet this place is ideal for families in the neighborhood. If I were a young dad who needed to get out of the house for an hour and treat the kids to lunch, Tavish would be the spot. The fireplace and toy ski-gondola hanging from the ceiling were a nice touch. We stopped by for some nachos and had the place pretty much to ourselves, except for a surprisingly well-behaved table of teenage guys having lunch and root beers together. The guy working the bar was quick to take our order, but he seemed a little distracted and rushed, considering there was only one other table seated. The chicken nachos were a good deal, the kind that have a 2-to-1 toppings-to-chip ratio. As a heads up though, don’t order their«Little Elephant» beer. It had an astringent taste.

Unilocalers –we trusted you and you let us down –or at least this place did. Seriously. Owner or waiter(not sure which but that doesn’t matter) really needs an attitude adjustment when it comes to customer SERVICE. Food was ok, Service below average. Go elsewhere is my reco. Plenty of better out there.

This is one of my steady spots. I really enjoy dinning here. I order a drink with my meal, but I reserve the boozing for elsewhere. I go here to sit and have a good meal. The staff are all very friendly, they love to talk– especially Jerome. They have really good fish tacos and I love the chips and salsa. There’s a full bar and they have outdoor seating, but NODOGS allowed. So keep the pooch at home. Here’s the NITTYGRITTY oMbIoUnS= a neighborhood sorta place. Really COMFORTABLE atmosphere, people at the bar are always chatting and they have tables off to the side if you just want to be alone or have a private convo with your boo. StAfF=GREAT. I like them all. John, Jerome, tall lanky guy, you are all great. *** oh, and I believe that I read a comment about the owner.. .let me say this, he’s actually very nice. I had a similar impression when I first met him because he was a bit stand offish, but after talking to him, my opinion changed. Now he says hi every time I walk by(even when I’m walking into Maeve!) pRiCe= very REASONABLE for the portion sizes. I always end up with food to go. fOOd= YUM-2-MY-TUMe *Side notes– I usually walk, I tried driving once and it was hard to find parking. There’s not public transport stop close by, so you should take a cab if you don’t like to walk. Happy Dining Experience, Cycette

Walked up here to attend a meeting with some fellow 12th night thes-peons. Enjoyed a nicely done blue cheezburger and my friends had meals they were all pleased with. The place has a neighborhoodie ambiance. There is a large back area(good for meetings). The proprietor was pleasant. I cracked up over the review about his«Baditude» I don’t mind when it’s the owner being a jerk. that’s his option, it’s when the employees are snotty — then Unilocal Loud! I’ll go back to this dive bar. The prices were reasonable, food decent, Beer OK, location close by(for me).

i will never patronize tavish again. i used to go there all the time with friends and family, and every single time – every single time! – the one waiter/bartender/owner(?) guy who was running the place(in the picture) was so rude/annoyed/inattentive, none of us could believe it. we are never a rowdy crowd, and we aren’t even hard to please, so i don’t know why he’s so unpleasant to us(and others; i always watch his interactions with other patrons). this guy’s badditude is so obvious and unapologetic that it’s driven me away for good. it really sucks because i do love the food(esp. the mini-burgers) and atmosphere. SAD. my husband started a social club over a year ago, and we would have made this our weekly hangout spot if that guy had EVER made us feel like he wanted our business.

I live right next to this place so I’ve ate there a half dozen times. To be honest with you, I’m not sure how this place stays in business. The food is great but there is NEVER anyone in there. Seriously, 1 – 3 tables filled during dinner time on a Friday? The people are real nice, the food is good(I recommend the meat loaf burgers). Worth checking it out though. (I’d question whether I’d consider it a «dive bar». It is more of a neighborhood bar)

It’s a strange neighborhood bar. The place was dead on a Friday night, my friend and I came in here to get a burger and a brew and since the other place across the street had no kitchen we came here. The signs up front said that it had the second best mini burger in the city. They were pretty good, the little patties were small but juicy and the pickles made it taste so much better. I am usually not a pickle fan, at all. Why the low rating? I am not a fan of super loud, obnoxious places but the place had no pulse. I found it suspicious that there aren’t people there. The bartender was pretty inattentive for a place that only had eight people total. I mean with us being the only three people left sitting at the bar you would think that he would check on us more often but he just seemed like he was just waiting to clock out early. I don’t know if I would go there again, not sure that the tiny hamburgers are worth it.

For some stupid reason I had a hankering for White Castle. I’ve never eaten at a White Castle but if its good enough for NPH then it should be good enough for me. So after a long day of work I threw it out there to some friends who live in Chicago and was summarily shot down. No, No, oh and yeah no. We are going to Tavish because they have beer, a full bar and mini burgers. Fine, who am I to argue with beer and dead cow all in one place. I have to echo others when they say its a great neighborhood bar. I like the darkness of the place with the open front looking out over the street and patio. They have a simple food menu and its executed quite well. I didn’t want fries with my food and was offered a great side salad that wasn’t iceberg lettuce. Service was great. It was a cool place to enjoy a spring evening with friends. My only complaint, if you ask us what game we want to watch on TV then at the very least turn the music down a little so one might hear it.

What a great neighborhood bar. I live about 4 blocks away and love coming here, especially on a weeknight. It’s very laid back and staff are always friendly. Definitely get the sliders. These are the tastiest mini burgers that I’ve ever had — not what you would expect from a bar! The chicken quesadillas are great too. Not a lot of choices, but who needs a laundry list of entrees/appetizers when your burgers are that good?!? Prices are pretty decent. As far as drinks, they have had issues with their tap where they won’t always have the beers due to something wrong with the line. I usually drink mixed drinks or wine though, so hasn’t been an issue for me. The bartender once even went across the street to the corner store to buy milk for my kahlua and milk request! What great service!

Pretty good neighborhood bar. If I lived around here, I would probably frequent the place. On a Saturday night, it was still pretty laid back, so I assume the weeknights are even quieter. The miniburgers were good and the folks seemed friendly. We were able to sit at the bar and watch some college football without listening to a bunch of drunk douchebags with backwards hats. Always a plus. I wouldn’t classify this as a dive by any means, if anything, I think this place would have more charm if it were a little more pub-ish.

Tasty burgers, friendly Staff. It’s a great neighbourhood bar, not my hood, but fits the bill when it comes to finding a non Lincoln Park location in LP. Down the street from a buddy’s place is the only reason I tripped across it. Small outdoor seating section for summer time enjoyment. Did I mention the Burgers? mmm
