Service is slow, unfriendly staff. They close at early but have a dance floor??? Not open on Saturdays unless they are booked for a party??? Mainly empty most of the time. Have a dance teacher come in to teach dance lessons for what if they are not open to dance??? When dance teacher is there people just sit there like if she is there to dance on her own. One of the times I was there kids were running around and screaming like as if they were out in a play ground. Owner had no control over what goes on in their place. Who wants to sit and eat with kids running around?
All and all great food!!!

Oh gosh where do I begin… #1 there are never any more than 2 customers. And I’m thinking to because the food SUCkS! #2 there are ants crawling all over the counter tops (ewwww, barf!)
When i told the lady about the ants, she didn’t seem bothered or even apologized. She said «oh look at that, I might have to call the exterminator again»
Don’t waste your time or money at this place. I’m sure you all can find a much better Mexican restaurant near by.

Found this place on groupon, so they hubby and I gave it a try. We loved it! The queso fundido is awesome, flautas were not oily, beans were delicious and nor reheated. Overall great experience, we will be back :)

Great Mexican Restaurant. Super clean and cute inside. The salsa is amazing. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier. The enchiladas and fajitas were excellent. The margaritas were also great! I would definitely recommend and will be returning.

I ordered through Grub Hub– 2 burritos and 2 steak quesadillas. Over $ 40 with tip. I wouldn’t have minded except my quesadillas came in the shape of 3 steak tacos on double corn tortillas.
1. The steak was old, over some and dry with NO seasoning.
2. Who the heck makes quesadillas with small corn tortillas?
3. Was informed they «always make their quesadillas that way». Ok then you need to call them STEAK TACOS!
No offer to make it right, hostess or waitress (female) just argued with me about how that is how THEY do it.
It would have been a 1 star but the burritos were decent. Oh and by the way THEY at least were on large flour tortillas. What a concept!

Cynthia is the best! I love this place. The food and service is great. Sometimes they are busy and short staffed so it takes a bit longer but chill the eff out and just wait for your sh*t because it’s worth it!!!

I’ve been here twice so far. Both times using a groupon, but I will be back for more.
Tampiquena steak with cheese enchilada is awesome! Fajitas, guacamole and their margaritas are all yummm! I ordered a guava Margarita and it was amazing.
I’ll be back to try more dishes soon!!. Large seating area, friendly servers and family owned. Run dont walk to try this place and order the Tampiquena!

Edison Park has many restaurants, but I feel are way too overpriced and you can easily get sick of the places you order almost every day. I wanted to try a new restaurant that had tacos. So as usual I look on Unilocal because I love how there’s ratings for each place. Not many people deliver to here so I am so grateful that you guys delivered to us! My meal was definitely worth the extra delivery fee since we are over the miles. Everything was fresh and still warm. The salsa on the sides are so delicious I wish there was more in the bag haha! I ordered the steak taco dinner. The delivery man was so sweet and we received our food right on time! I will for sure be stopping in to get the fried ice cream since I was a little nervous to have it delivered :) I will also be recommending to anyone in the area looking for a yummy taco joint!

I have now ordered from here 3 different times including today and every single time it’s been very good. I have tried the tampiquena, Taco dinner and Burrito Dinner. Everything has been good and fresh not one complaint. My mother in law enjoyed her food and the margarita wanted it a bit stronger but no complaints. My Girlfriend loved her food and the choriqueso. My daughter loved her food and her horchata. Definitely recommend it!

very mediocre, food wasn’t bad. they just charge you for everything extra. example i got fajitas, if you wanted cheese, tomatoes sour cream etc, thats extra!!! not a big fan of paying for something that is given to you at any other mexican restaurant.

I come here often, always have the tortilla soup either in a cup or bowl with chicken. Also order the shrimp cocktail every time, both are the best I’ve ever had. Anything with steak is awesome. And you must finish with fried ice cream or the flan. Drinks are good too. Everything has always been delicious here.
Give this place a shot.

I will start with DO NOT COME HERE! we called ahead to inform the staff that we had a party of 11 headed their way. Once we got there it took the waitress 20 minutes to bring one of the women in our party the Margarita she ordered. We asked the waitress several times to take our order and were told that she would be right with us. Meanwhile, a separate party walked in and immediately had their order taken, when we pointed out to the waitress that they received their food before us she stated that they ordered ahead when we WATCHED her take their order ahead of ours. There were a total of three tables occupied and the wait staff could not handle it. Disappointing to say the least. I will never come here again, I suggest you don’t either.

So I’ve never written a review before. I always just used Unilocal as a recommendation tool, but today I was in the mood for some Mexican food and Unilocal suggested this place. I read a lot of the reviews and figured that this was a safe bet. Man, was I wrong. I’m assuming that the people that have reviewed this place before have never been to a real Mexican restaurant. If they had, they would know that this food is terrible. Everything was bland. The molě was so bad that it stained the Styrofoam that it came in. I am Mexican. I was born and raised here in Chicago, but my grandparents were all from Mexico. I know what Mexican food should taste like. This is not Mexican food. Trust me, do NOT eat at Tortilla Soup. It is a waste of money. Go to the Mexican place on Diversey and Harlem for authentic Mexican food.

Been here a couple of times already
It’s a new restaurant in the neighborhood and I’m liking this place. I Love the fresh salsa and the pulled chicken enchiladas a lot of Mexican places don’t really make them that way. The mola sauce is yummy! I have no complaints
I hope their here to stay!!!

OMG!!! I was at tortilla soup yesterday, with family 6 of us!!! The food had great the strawberry Margarita was very tasty. We order a variety of food and I’m happy to say that everything was authenti!!! The restaurant is great for family event, for party group, or just for 2. LOOKING 4 GOOD MEXICAN FOOD, WELL TORTILLA SOUP IS THE PLACE!!!

Just ordered two tacos, burrito dinner and two fried ice creams. Delivery came to the exact time estimated (I love that!) tacos were good & hubby’s burrito was good. The fried ice creams came picture perfect (p.s. It is 91 degrees today!) they wrap the styrofoam your food comes in in plastic wrap so it stays intact (yay!) and they included yummy chips! Good salsas (we asked for green and red-​those were in plastic wrap too!) This place delivers class AND good food. Definitely have to make this a date night restaurant in the future, I want to try the flautas next!

Salsa was AMAZING. Chorizo Sope and Tostada and Assda Tostada were good. Fried Ice Cream was also good. We came for lunch but want to return for dinner. Prices were very affordable.
