I too had gift certificates from Cosco. They gave me 80.00 on. Costco card. That’s fair.

Is better get a refund from Costco… Pretty sure it’s illegal to sell something like that… Seems fraudulent.

Just found out today that they are closed and I still have gift cards we got from Costco right before Christmas. Now what?! Will Costco refund? Highly unlikely!

The food is made fresh daily and the service is always top notch. Great atmosphere and delicious wine, this place is definitely a favorite.

Food was good. The other factors such as atmosphere, service and timing were lacking. Many accidents with loud bangs, half of the menu was unavailable and food was sequenced strangely. It was as though we were in some bloopers show with all of the ongoing blunders.

Let me preface this by saying I have only been to Monks on one occasion. Every restaurant has a bad night once in a while. Let me also say that the atmosphere is cool here. The servers were great, and it’s a nice place to take a date or have a relaxed evening. It also has a good wine list for a place its size. If you are going here for the food, you may be disappointed. My wife and I had two different dishes. A rib-eye and a lamb dish. The rib-eye was well done on one end and medium on the other. She ordered it medium rare. Her dish was served with lemon infused potatoes that tasted predominantly of lemon. They were just wrong. The«lamb» which turned out to be chops were over cooked as well and were served on a mound of rice with a curry sauce. This was a pile of mushy, bland, blah. Both of these dishes felt amateur, like someone was experimenting with flavors and had not learned what worked yet. My wife said it felt like the chef was gone and someone else was cooking his menu without ingredient amounts. We thought desert might redeem the meal so we order Chocolate Boudin. It looked beautiful, but was just a big sugar bomb. I had one bite and she had four or five. We just laughed at the time because we could not believe how elementary this all was. The most frustrating thing for me was that I walked away having spent literally $ 100 on a meal that I would not pay $ 35 for if I knew what I was getting again. This should not be the case. I can hardly believe the reviews I read saying that the food is good, but as I said, everyone has a bad night. Do notice that many of them are not raving about the food. I want to like this place because its cool inside, feels homey and warm. The food was really disappointing.

Super good! Love the service and the food. They have a great wine list too. Their outdoor patio is so cute. Had the best night with my husband there away from the kids haha.

I love their Monday night pasta deal. 15 dollars gets you a 4 Oz glass of wine, a nice balsamic salad and spaghetti with a slice of garlic cheese bread. The spaghetti was really good. The garlic bread I think was made fresh with cheese and was warm out of the oven. I was really impressed with the quality of everything and of course the wine was perfectly paired with the meal. I’m happy to say I will definitely be returning.

The best word to sum everything up here would be excellent. From the service to the food and dessert everything was excellent. When you walk in automatically feels very welcoming with the dim lights and they also had a outside back patio area to dine in which was very nice. For the 2 entrees, drinks and dessert it was fairly inexpensive.

I’m giving Monks a one star for customer service. We were looking for a new place to try for dinner last night. Monks sounded really nice. We were off to a late start– I called at about 8:20pm to see about getting a reservation, as the website stated they were open till 11pm. The woman who answered said the kitchen closed at 9pm «for summer hours» so we’d need to get there by then. We quickly left the house for the 5 minutes to get there. In transit, my phone rang– it was the same woman saying that she had spoken to her manager and they really want us to come by 8:45 because the kitchen starts closing down. We went elsewhere, as we felt unwelcome at Monks, who clearly stated«open till 11»… in my opinion, it would be good customer service to talk up their wine bar or say they’d be happy to give us appetizers etc in this case rather than flat out turn us away.

After visiting the Farmer’s Market, we decided to have an adult beverage at Monk’s. They have a great selection of wines and specially selected craft beers. I decided on the white wine flight which included Complicated… awesome!

10 out of 10! Found Monks on Unilocal… hooray…had a delicious beer and the Monks salad with chicken and it was a fabulous meal. I enjoyed eating outside al fresco on the lovely patio and I look forward to returning to Monks.

We celebrated our anniversary at Monks. Nice atmosphere and appearance. My wife had the Big Vinny and it was very well prepared and delicious. I had a dish on their«specials». Beef cheeks resotto. This dish was one of the most delicious meals in my memory. We shared a wonderful desert, an Italian chocolate custard. Also, the service was excellent. We’ll be back.

I wish I found this place sooner! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect dining experience. Everything from the service(Kendrick) to the food and selection was EXCEPTIONAL! The Chef here is top notch and you MUST try the Bone Marrow with Quail Eggs and Toasted Bread! I was a little skeptical at first but in the end my mind was blown! Excellent ambiance, great local beer/wine selection and reasonable pricing. Really felt at home coming here. I just can’t say enough. The desserts are amazing. Just ask for the chefs choice and you won’t be disappointed.

Nice and fancy dining spot for Chico. I enjoy the cheese plate, trio of tapas, and pasta. Tonight I tried the creamy polenta special and it was wonderful. It paired great with the glass of sav blanc from Chile. Their wine selection is great and includes several varieties from different countires. I cant wait to come back and try more!

Our large group of eight was lucky enough to get same day dinner reservations here last weekend. Being foodies we were eager to sample their diverse and creative menu. First off, service couldn’t have been more friendly, attentive and welcoming. We ordered several starters to share and all were delicious. Entrees were presented artistically and as with modern fresh cuisine, focused on flavor rather than huge portions. Don’t get me wrong none of us left hungry. We did find room to share a few decadent desserts as well. Our only regret is we didn’t eat at Monk’s sooner since our son is graduating this May. A wonderful find in Chico, classy warm atmosphere with fantastic food! Their Monday night«all you can eat» pasta dinners for $ 15 a person is something college students should take advantage of. Mangia Mangia!

If you haven’t been to this wonderful place in downtown Chico, you are missing out! The wine selection is amazing and has something that will please every palette. And the food, well, it’s really some of the best in Chico. Not only is it delicious, but I learned that it’s all homemade and uses local ingredients and they even do their own canning. The setting is super chic, but also very welcoming. And the service is really top-notch. Attentive, but not over the top. I also had the pleasure of attending an event that Monk’s Wine Lounge & Bistro catered. Absolutely awesome! The whole set up was just gorgeous, complete with center pieces incorporating pomegranates from the chef’s property. And the food was displayed perfectly(and was of course amazing!) The bartender who worked the event was professional, super nice, and just really welcomed guests.

Wine lovers and foodies can celebrate this amazing spot in Chico. I have been there several times(AKA: 3) and each time has been amazing. Their wine flights are quite generous. You really only need to order one flight between two people. Additionally, the servers all seem to know their wine. They actually ask you about your taste preferences prior to bringing the flights(choices are red or white). I asked them for their dryer wines and they happily obliged. I would be quite remiss if I did not mention their fried avocado dish. This is heaven on a plate! It is a great spot for groups of about 4(anything more may be a bit awkward and you would have to go to their backyard patio for comfortable conversation). However, it is a great date spot or double date spot. They have high-top tables that seat 4. This is my new favorite special occasion spot in Chico.
