Raley’s

Am I the only one that notices that Raley’s rips everybody off?! You’ve got to buy 4 of something just to get it as cheap as the local gas station. Or the gas station out in BFE, for that matter.
Even when something is on sale it’s more expensive then any other grocery store in town. I hate myself for going there for a couple quick items and coming out spending a fortune. Again, a gas station would be cheaper. And I don’t care what they say, the quality of food is no better there than the Grocery Outlet.
(Ok, that might be a bit if an exaggeration, but not too far off.)

I like this Ralyes, I always find what I need and more. Their balloon and flower section is better than Safeway’s and their meat is delicious and cut very clean.

When you think of going to lunch with your coworkers you don’t think going to Raley’s. When I make the suggestion I get a questionable look, however, those that have gone and had a Dagwood sandwich understand what I am talking about. This sandwich is hands down the best sandwich in Chico. They provide a little eating area to enjoy your lunch. Give it a try!

This is only store in chico that carries Tab soda. Like any store you get the good with the bad and at this store there is more good.

The customer service at this store has always been good, but Giovanni in the deli went over and above to make sure I was taken care of and happy. It’s always nice to shop in a clean well organized store, which this store has always been. But if all the employees have a smile on their face and a positive attitude like he did, it Would make even the most grumpy old ladies smile and say thanks

Nice place to get groceries! There isles were nice straight and full ! The employees were fantastic to me and my daughter!

Let me start with the good: They have decent meat and a large selection of everything like most grocery stores. Parking is easy and the folks working are mostly nice. The have BOMB sandwiches! YUM!
The bad: make sure you check expiration dates on EVERYTHING you buy. I’ve bought expired chips and expired chocolate bars at this Raley’s. Totally gross dude! If I found 2 items that are expired… what else is old, moldy, dirty, etc…
I also have to say I like when they have the 30% off 6 bottles of wine. Can’t beat that!
Clean up your act a bit Raley’s and I’ll re-​review!

Nice store, prices are ok, the best part of the store is the bread section. The breads are fresh, super soft and smell delicious… yep! The bakery rocks :) I found the best price on coffee creamer (almost a dollar cheaper then at Safeway) Yippie! I drink coffee every single day and getting a good price for my fav creamer is KEY! I’m finding that the prices all over Chico are more expensive then in LA which is very weird :-/​Anyhoo this store had a pretty good organic fruit and veggie section as well as a super extensive flower department.
Since this was my first visit, I inquired about the customer loyalty program (I LOVE the Ralphs program and will miss it tremendously :(. No Ralphs in Chico. Waaaaaaa!) I’m a bargain shopper, a loyalty program is what will bring me back, digital coupons on items I buy the most, cash back… all that good stuff, gotta have it! Thanks to Javier, the store manager for setting me up with my new account and showing me how to use it. Its a bit more complicated then simply flashing a bar code from my iPhone but whatever, Chico is a little behind the times and I’ll have to adjust. Its an ok store, I’ll visit the other location and keep my fingers crossed that I like it better :)

It’s a great store when you need fresh flowers and last minute ingredients for dinner. I would have given an extra star, but the bakery department has let me down on a couple of occasions. They’ve managed to completely mess up two pre ordered cakes… seriously? The second time I came there to pick up a custom birthday cake, I was told that the person who took my order didn’t write clear instructions and didn’t take down my number so they didn’t follow any of the instructions down. This was an order placed 3 days in advance. I won’t be ordering any future cakes from here.

Wow! For the first time ever in a long time did a cashier first off ask if I wanted paper or bag and even more amazingly… asked if I wanted ALL items in one bag! OMG! Finally a store that doesnt put one item in one bag! Someone actually got it that you can fill the entire bag and not be wasteful! For that reason I commend Raleys! Would be great if they didnt even offer bags but I get it, baby steps.
Not so great was seeing a bunch of disposable drinks, water bottles ect. sitting around on the shelf right in the front of store by the door. Is that really where staff puts their drinks to hydrate? Looks messy and unprofessional. Tip… hide the drinks or put in break room!

I really dislike the fact that the natural/​organic foods section was phased in to the rest of the store in this particular location. It makes it so much harder to find what I need. I now journey to the East Ave location to shop that section.
I might sound like a raging hippie here, but the clerks are TERRIBLE about using reusable shopping bags, like Chico Bags. They always act irritated/​put out by having to use them, even though I unfold the bags for them. Other stores in the area actually thank customers for bringing in their own bag, yet Raleys employees behave as though it’s a major inconvenience.

The pharmacy is very small but the employees really make it a great place to go. I have been picking up my prescriptions from this Raley’s for years and now most of the emploees know me by first name. There is never a wait and you can pay for some grocery items when you are getting your medicine.

Nice raleys, always clean, good service. Great parking usually quick in and out service. Nice deli.
