Service slow, not enough menu choice, too many have a spicy component. Overpriced for what you get. Had a wine flight & the server was going to leave the large holder on a small 2 top table.

Locally owned and creative and casual. I’m new to Chico and stopped in by myself and sat at the bar, where I was served an amazing cocktail with hand squeezed juices and just the freshest ingredients. My appetizer orders were the sweet potato pancakes and potstickers. Delicious and lovely attention to detail with garnishes and toppings. The folks next to me were swooning over their entrees. Plus as a solo diner they made me feel really welcome and everyone had a smile for me — and all the other guests. Can’t wait to hit the patio in the warmer months. Be sure to check out Weds. Jazz nights — with live music. Chico seems to get really hung up on prices. For me, you get what you pay for and this place rocks! My co-workers tell me this is THEPLACE to take a date!

New owners have greatly improved this gem of a restaurant. Quality of the food is excellent. The mushroom dumplings were fantastic! The pianist and singer made the experience even more enjoyable. The owner greeted us we walked in and wait staff was friendly and professional.

Have been their recently — much improved since new owners hit their stride. I think for food, service, ambiance is the best(perhaps only) place to go in Chico. Was there over the Dec 2015 holiday.

We went to Red Tavern last night for some jazzy music. Ambience was great as always. We ordered a couple of drinks, Caesar salad(it was $ 9 plus $ 2 for anchovies) and an appetizer of three meatballs($ 9 I think). It was wonderful but a little pricey $ 64 for salad, app and 4 drinks! There patio is my favorite in the spring/summer. Great bocce ball court and wine list.

We’ve been here twice with 2 different owners… service and ambience great both times but I’m afraid the food quality dropped just a tad the 2nd time… still excellent! Boche ball was fun!

The meals that I’ve had there for dinner have been great. Their baked chicken with sage is still one that I think about… But I recently went there for brunch and was left a little underwhelmed. My eggs benedict came out cold and didn’t have a ton of flavor. I might give them another shot some day since their dinners have always been great, but there’s many other breakfast places in town that are much tastier. A glass of wine and bocce on their back patio is a real good time!

Surprised to find a bigger city style restaurant here, so extra stars for them. Under management, Red Tavern is a nice neighborhood restaurant with a pleasant and creative menu. The concepts are great, and the execution is usually quite good. The happy hour menu lasts until 6, I think, and is different than the dinner menu. They do a pretty good job compensating for gluten free(husband has allergies). The wine is a little hit or miss at times, but the selection is fair.
