This place was ok… but it is now empty and for lease!

Cheap bastards like me generally stay away from Hawaiian food because we know it’s going to be expensive. But remember, it’s all about value for cheapies. If you’re going to get a lot of food for your money, then it’s all relative. L & L is Hawaii’s most popular export to the mainland. If you’ve never been to one, then you’re missing what it’s like to eat Hawaiian fast food. It’s pretty simple really. Just take a styrofoam container, fill it with something fried(like katsu) or simple to make(like some hamburger patties with some eggs on top and plastered with gravy — that’s a loco moco) and put some macaroni salad on the side and you’ve got yourself a Hawaiian fast food meal. You may wonder what the difference is between a chicken cutlet and the chicken katsu. The answer is that the cutlet comes with gravy on the side. You still don’t get it? Watufaka! Don’t worry about how much the food costs. It may seem like a lot but when you end up taking half your meal back home, you’ll realize why. The only thing missing here is the ocean breeze and all the tourists that fill Hawaii’s beaches.

Even for an L&L, this place isn’t great. I’m thinking it might be because the workers aren’t from Hawaii, so they don’t know what the food is «supposed» to taste like… but then… isn’t it all subjective anyway? I had some awesomely bad kalua pig here – laden with lumps of fat and too-big chunks of meat. The lau lau, too. And for some reason, even the bbq chicken has ligamentous lumps of fat. I don’t know what’s up, but it isn’t this.

I’ve always been happy with my meals here. The portions are big, no matter what size you order. BBQ, Chicken Katsu, Loco Moco, Spam & eggs you can never go wrong. Had the Portuguese sausage masubi, taste was absolutely fantastic. Just need a thicker cut of the sausage to rice ratio.

This L&L is pretty good and they really make good spam musubis. I keep thinking I could make it too but I get too lazy to try and I come here. Now they have this after school«special» on monday to fridays from 230 to 530(i think) and they give you two spam musubis and a drink for like 3.69. Their chicken katsu was very good, made just right. Most of the time now I get it when it’s all burned and dry. I wish they give more macaroni though; they have gotten a little stingy… They have cute specials on the wall like the Obama special(which is kalua pork) and salmon steak. However, their coke/pepsi I was a lil disappointed in… It was very flat. This place is close and I’ll stop by if I’m into some hawaiian flavor…

I’ve been a fan of L&L for awhile. From locations near my office to a location in Puente Hills Mall, it’s obvious that all L&L’s are not created equal. I’d have to say that this location ranks pretty high in my book. Regular Chicken Plate — This comes with the super delicious BBQ Chicken, 2 Scoops of rice, and a scoop of macaroni salad. This is the first time that I’ve been to an L&L where they give you a ton of chicken. I would say almost 35% more than other locations. They also package the macaroni salad separate instead of just a scoop right next to your chicken. That’s not a big deal I guess but it is a nice touch. You have to eat the chicken with their«Teri» sauce and Sriracha hot sauce. A very filling plate. A friend of mine ordered the chicken katsu plate and the volume of food they gave her was obscene. The same double scoop of rice and mac salad were served with the meal as well. This is a place to go when you’re tired of burgers and all the other junk that’s out there or if you’re just craving some good food. I’ve tried several of their dishes from the Loco Moco to the Kahlua Pork and they all hit the spot. Top it off with a spam musubi and you’re in business!

This place is very popular and crwoded at times and will most likely be the Biggest chain of Hawaiian food. Gotta love their Spam Musubi and Saimin and Teriyaki. A little on the sweet side for my tastes but good nonetheless. Table here are small. My family is from Hawaii and how do you expect to fit Hawaiian people in here if you got tiny tables. ;) The only minor gripe I have about this place LOL Great service and very clean.

Looking for somewhere different to spend our lunch break we headed over to try out L&L today. I was very happy with my Kahlua Pork lunch, which came with rice, and macaroni salad. It was delicious, and the portion was huge, so much in fact that I will be having kahlua pork for lunch again tomorrow. Both of my friends ordered the Chicken, which I’m guessing was pretty good, since it literally disappeared off their plates! They also have those ‘Hawaiian’ juices that I have always been a fan of. Overall this place offers good eats at a good price.
