We just had dinner here this evening. Food is very good with large serving sizes and reasonable prices. I enjoy the pleasant casual atmosphere so I happily recommend Tony’s.

Went in to order rib eye steak and beef dip to go. They don’t take phone orders over the phone. Got home and they gave me bbq ribs and half beef dip sandwich. Was so disappointed. I should have checked the order before leaving but trusted it was right and paid to much. Not very flavorful or seasoned well. Won’t be going back ever !!

The service is horrible, but at least the good was tasty and inexpensive so it balanced one another. Recently they dramatically increased the prices and service remains horrible not sure we will go again.

I dined there a year ago. In the area tonight but this visit was disappointing. Dinner wait to be seated was 25 minutes. Service was slow. We ordered two 16oz. Ribeyes. One surly was a ribeye, but over cooked, ordered medium was medium well. The second steak was a poor grade top sirloin at best, overcooked. We ask the young waiter, and he gave was a blank stare. Fish platter was cold, with only one small shrimp but lots of very tiny breaded clams. Cold fish no bueno! The berry cobble was doughy and under cooked. But hey the vanilla ice cream and their fresher brewed iced tea were great! I can’t imagine returning! 1.5 stars.

Very very disappointing. This is a place close to home that my family and I frequently visit. One thing I can say is very slow service, hair in my food, no compassion for anything and no manager on floor. I have been a waitress and I know what it takes to serve a table. We sat here over two hours for a dinner. My mother is diabetic and had to wait after taking her medications. The server also served her friends first who came after us and did not check on our table at all. Seemed under staffed. I can go on and on. The only pleasant part was the bus boy who came by and apologized and genuinely cared about us. He should be acknowledged for a job well done. Again very very disappointed by the food and customer service and most likely will not be coming back!

Whaddup Spunky Steer… A close friend of mine was raving about this place and I was in town so we decided to drop in. After watching three tables come in after we did get served first, we finally got our salads(sans myself). As I watch my friends dig into their salad, my girlfriend pulled out a hair that was wrapped around a piece of lettuce from her mouth. A very nice bus boy saw this happen and ran in the back to tell someone… The waitress said there was no manager available but offered to make her another salad. No manager, slow service, only two waitresses in the whole restaurant, hair in the food… I don’t know how they are still in business… I decided to cancel my order… Won’t be coming back… So disappointed.

Always love the food here, great service, and fast. Went for hubby’s bday, he got steak and ribs, with steak fries, all gone. My daughter ordered the burger, it was tasty, I expected a bigger patty. Another ordered pepper steak, a ton of grilled veggies on top. My favorite is the specialty steak, it seemed bigger than 8oz, and delicious. The coleslaw was good, a little sweet, they may add pineapple. Toast was perfection, the salad is basic but always crispy fresh. No one liked the clam chowder, it was fishy, and seemed out of the can, so no five stars. For hubby’s bday the gave him a free ice cream we all had some, the vanilla ice cream-nobody liked it, funny taste, but appreciate the gesture. Great steaks, Spunky Steer never disappoints. One tip, the menu picture on Unilocal is very old, so the prices are higher.

I went there today and had a somewhat ok dinner for the price I paid… I got a stockyard steak 20oz steak, bake potato, garlic bread and soup… all for $ 20…the price was good but the quality of steak wa so so… service was okay and place seemed fined… But I would definetly go to a better steak place to get a real porterhouse steak, NY steak, or better cut of quality meat… The steak almost tasted like the breakfast steak and eggs… looks like very low quality cut of steak or meat… overall…I wouldn’t go there again as food was just okay… spend the $ 30 for steak dinner elsewhere… my favorite best steak place is Jocko’s in Nipomo, near Santa Maria. its kind of far from my house.

Headed not been for an excellent waiter they would’ve only gotten one star. I ordered a ribeye medium rare it came out wrong the first time and then burnt the second time. When I asked to speak with a manager apparently all of them had gone home.

I’ve had dinner here 3 times now and have enjoyed it each time. I had the Tuesday night special, which includes a NY steak(which is not small btw), a potato side(baked, mashed, or fries), garlic bread, and soup or salad. Definitely a good meal. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was cooked just how it should, seasoned well and I enjoyed every bite. The baked potato was big and was loaded with butter sour cream and chives, just how I like. And all of this for $ 13! Cannot beat that! The service on this night was great, our waitress was very friendly, refilled our drinks several times and made sure we were well taken care of. You cant beat the price of this place, its a no frills steak joint, the décor is like and old fashioned Texas steakhouse and I will be coming back again.

This place is on our regular rotation. When you step through the doors, it’s like stepping back into time. The service is consistently«okay», and the food doesn’t disappoint. While it’s not the best steak ever, it satisfies the meat and potato craving my husband and I will get. Our usual order: 8 oz stockyard, which comes with salad or soup(we get chili), baked potato(or other side), and garlic bread. I once tried the liver and onions(grilled). I ended up chopping up the liver and mixing it in with my baked potato to tame the strong liver flavor. Tony’s is our go-to place when we can’t think of anything else to eat. Haha.

Spunky steer is a family owned and serves nothing but great food and great service i ordered rib eye steak that came out sizzling and juicy. It was better than anything I experienced at Mortons steakhouse. service is attentive. this is a great spot to take clients

Although this is a super old school place and the interior could use a little boost, the food itself was really good! I ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon and it was super yummy! :)

Tony’s Spunky Steer! Got to love the name. Tony’s Spunky Steer is the epitome of an old school steak house. They are located in a nondescript strip mall in Chino that you would not give a second glance to while driving by. Dark on the inside with no windows, booths that reminded me of diner’s like Coco’s, Norms or Spires and an interior that is bigger than expected providing lots of room for large parties. It was kind of trip down memory lane to be inside and the only thing missing was the group of good old boys holding court in a corner booth. The service is prompt, friendly and attentive. No matter whether I’m drinking beer or iced tea(I drink massive amounts of iced tea) the waiter always makes sure to check in frequently so that I’m never running on empty. One of my pet peeves is to order an alcoholic beverage or soft beverage for that matter and finish it before a refill is offered. The menu offers a variety of steaks to choose from. I’ve tried the rib eye, stockyard(which claims to be sirloin but is somewhat nondescript but tasty non the less) and the country fried steak. The steaks are usually served and on pewter plate that is so hot that the steaks will to stick to it. I know that doesn’t sound attractive but it’s part of the old time steak house experience. Also on the menu is a selection of ribs, chicken, seafood and salads. There’s something for everyone even if you’re not a meat eater. They have a nice selection of combinations to choose from each served with your choice of soup or salad, two sides and garlic bread. Sides range from baked potato to coleslaw, to veggies. I’ve yet to try their soup but I can say that I am a big fan of the dinner salad. One of the joys in my life is finding restaurants that serve what I fondly refer to as industrial strength Thousand Island dressing. Many restaurants serve it but not many do it right at least not in my book. Tony’s Spunky Steer is in the Thousand Island done right column of the salad balance sheet. I would go there just for the gunky salad dressing and probably will someday. The prices are very reasonable and you pay at the cashier in the front so bring cash for the tip. I did say old school, right… For a steak dinner that’s definitely not going to break the bank and that will hold you over in between visits to the highly overrated Ruth’s Chris and Morton’s, Tony’s Spunky Steer fills the bill. Have a good night.

Had the bacon wrapped filet… wow. tender and cooked to perfection. Service was good and attentive. Just one word of caution — the plate is one degree away from melting when served… keep you hands, arms and anything flammable away from it. the only disappointment is when I spoke to the manager about if they could handle 25 + with notice on a Tuesday night, she was less than enthused and I got the impression she did not want the added business. She kept trying to convince me that lunch time would be a better option rather than dinner time… too bad spunky, I would have loved to introduce you to my friends and club members.

Very affordable steak place! You can’t go wrong with anything you pick, the main dish comes with your choice of salad or soup of the day + choice of baked potato, Apples, Mac and cheese, and many other options that I can’t remember at the moment but they will go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied. My favorite dish is the pepper stake, it comes with bell peppers onions and amazing little mushrooms, plus your garlic bread choice of soup or salad and your side. It has everything, great food, great service, sanitary and excellent prices! I love this place, it’s my to go to stake place.

I came for mother’s day. With the understanding it would be busy. Our service was beyond terrible. Drinks were not brought out, then when they were they were all wrong. I ordered a more expensive cut of meat. It came full of fat. When we spoke to the server, he basically said the owners son would do nothing about it. Our other steak was brought out overcooked. I will not be returning here ever again. I will pass this on to friends and family to not eat at this establishment

I am so sorry I waited so long to try this place. Tony’s is a very affordable steakhouse with really good food and even better prices. I was here with only about 45 minutes to spare on a lunch break and they got me in and out and well fed in plenty of time. I enjoyed the Stockyard with salad, mashed potatoes and garlic bread and loved every bite! I will definitely be back!

I’ve lived in Chino my whole and never knew about this place. My girlfriend has always bugged me about going to this place because her family and herself have gone a couple of times to this place. So I finally decided to give it a try. First of all, the sign outside the restaurant it’s not noticeable at all. They have to change that to make it stand out. This place may look small from the outside, but it’s huge inside! Very cozy inside. A family vibe type of place. Staff was friendly. I ordered their Bacon Wrapped Filet Steak. It was a bit undercooked, but they did warmed me. Can’t complain too much since it still was good. The baked potato was good as well. I’ll come back and give some of their other entrees a try.

You would think from the OBVIOUS«aroma» that engulfs Chino/Chino Hills at times, that there would be a whole buncha steak options to choose from. WRONG!!! The Spunky Steer is a local business that sits amongst corporate America in the Chino Country Fair strip mall. There are no signs on Central Ave. to hint it’s location, so look for Carl’s Jr. and Spunky is behind it, next to Susie’s Deals. All you see is a sign and a door. No windows to peer in and get an idea of what yur gettin’ into, but I still pulled open the door only cuz of FAITHIN Unilocal, HAH! What’s inside looks like vintage Denny’s with a country western influence. YeeHAW! Alan took care of us this evening, and the chap was pleasant throughout. Lots of menu items, so we sampled a few things… *FILET&SHRIMP($ 17): Came as a 5 oz. filet that was bacon-wrapped, although menu didn’t indicate it should have been, and Alan recommended the filet be «opened» to ensure a better outcome. Really? It’s a 5oz, filet?!? Wifey went with it, and sure enough, the request for«medium» came«well done.» Alan, ‘Ssup?!? Ya steered us wrong :(Wouldn’t go with that recommendation again. Shrimps were a good size and not too much breading. Baked potato was cooked just right. *T-BONE STEAK($ 16): They drop a BIGHUNK of meat for this price! This 16oz. Porterhouse was cooked as requested: medium and tasted just right. The grilled veggies were buttery crisp. NO complaints here. My filet part was WAYBETTER than what dropped in front of Wifey! For lack of steakhouse options in the area, this is a decent no frills choice with great prices, you just have to order the right thing. I sure did, and I would easily come back to order THESAMETHING ;)
